- Today I wrapped my 2021 Bass Tracker 175. I go over each step on how to vinyl wrap a boat and the tools and materials you will need!

Boat: Bass Tracker 175 Pro Team TXW
Wrap Material: 3M IJ180 Cv3 - Printed with Latex HP365
Wrap Laminate: 3M 8418G - High Gloss Laminate (1.5mil)
Tools You'll Need to Wrap:
75% Isopropyl Alcohol - To Clean Boat
Paper Towels
Masking Tape
Application Tool - Felted Squeegee
Olfa Blade - Preferably a Carbon Blade 45 Degree
Torch or Heat Gun - For Install & Post Heating
3M Tape Primer 94 - Pre Wrap
3M Edge Sealer - Post Wrap

Any problems going over the original decals? Car you see them after the wrap is on?
You can layer over the decals with no issue. They are slightly embossed under the wrap.

Will it bond on sanded 2500grit or need to be polished surface. And is foil good aginst algee?
How is the wrap holding up under the waterline? My black tracker needs paint, but I may try to just gloss wrap it over painting, do you think it will hold up long term?

Depending on design cost, I’d estimate around $700 👍

Where did you get the wrap
How much did the printed wrap cost or did you print it yourself?
Depends on the shop, $8-$10 a sqft normally for 3M-IJ180
Where you popped the pin holes to release the air bubble would you put sealer over them
No sealer needed, just post heat and your good to go!
How do you apply sealer to the edge if you cut the wrap flat without overlapping to the bottom?
Just wipe it on, vinyl to hull
Try one with rivets and a rib down the side. It took me 2 hours per side on an 85’ 18’Alumacraft. I didn’t use any seam sealer mines been on for 2 years not a pealed place on it. I cut it 1 inch above the bottom of the boat. Putting on a wrap is not for a beginner. I only used the heat gun on the rivets.
Rivets are definitely fun, good times!

Same, as long as the gel coat is in good condition. No oxidation or roughness, needs to be slick to stick 🤙
is there a difference between car wrap and boat wrap
material?
There are different wrap materials but 3M IJ180Mc-10 was used on this boat, and can be used on vehicles as well. Side note, the gloss laminate is 3M 8518.
Can you put knifless tape to primer and still use the tape to cut?
Yes it works well on top of primer 94
Is it difficult to remove the plastic casing around the cut tape once it’s put over the primer.
Question: so you just trim to rub rail.

No need to silicone, unless you need too.
