How neat! Great for holding the pan on the stove when cooking popcorn..... Just a tip.....I had the neighbors give me their old ironing board covers and used them for the insulation for my hot pads. Everyone said they worked.
What a nice idea, Robin. I didn’t see them before. I don‘t eat popcorn anymore because of diabetes. But I did enjoy it when I was young. Greetings from Germany.
What perfect timing! I was just looking at purchasing a set of 4 skillet handle covers. ($18) They would make great stocking stuffers for my adult kids and spouses. Thank you for sharing 😊
Saving money and making gifts. Always a good thing. If you like to make a themed gift basket I also have a video for pan protectors that go between the pans when you have to stack them.
Robin... You read my mind... I saw this and immediately thought for Christmas I would make gift sets with towels and pot holders... I'm going to make some of these to add to it.
Hey Robin, was glad to see your video in replay as we had no phone (landline or cell), WIFI or cable from about 5:00 a.m. yesterday until about 3:00 a.m. today. Such a cute and useful idea. I would give multiples to the same recipients as you seldom have just 1 pot or pan on the go. Popcorn with butter and salt.
Oh no Marion. That’s no fun. At least you had electricity still. I know we shouldn’t be so dependent on wifi and cable but it’s everywhere nowadays. I’m glad your back back up running again.
Thank you Robin. I have tried several versions of this. Just made one using your instructions. Very easy and no fighting to turn. Tried it out on my cast iron pan. Works perfectly.
Popcorn, love it with butter, and also, sprinkle with seasoning. I love the pot handle cover idea Robin! Thank you for sharing, these WILL make great gifts!
I'm always burning my hands on handles. This is a great idea. Thanks! Popcorn! Butter of course! But homemade kettle corn is great too. I've never seen kettlecorn seasoning- now I gotta go look fir it. Lol
Thank you very much for this video! Years ago I bought both the round and square Skookie cast iron pan kits that came with handle covers similar to these. I loved them but they weren't big enough for my regular cast iron pans. Now I can make these. ❤️ I got my first hot air popper for popcorn over 40 years ago and replaced it about 20 years ago. I love it! I like a little butter and salt on my popcorn. My mom would use a little cold-pressed unrefined peanut oil with a little salt on hers. That was also yummy and good for those with milk allergies along as they didn't have peanut allergies. I loved making popcorn flour in the blender from popped popcorn for making popcorn meringue cookies using a recipe from the cookbook that came with that first hot air popper. Thank for reminding me that I need to make those again as soon as I unpack my box of cookbooks! 🙂
I am definitely a buttered popcorn girl! And I do love popcorn. These are cute...I am wondering if my girls might need some of these. They are a great idea.
I like enough butter to hold the salt or other seasonings. The movie theaters tend to use too much for me. 🍿🍿🍿. The pot handles don’t take much time or fabric. Even if my family didn’t use them I wouldn’t feel bad.
Makes great Hostess Gift too, along with something I call Micro-Mitts. People love these!! Popcorn?? Love it any way I can get it. Lol. Hope you’re having a good summer, Robin.
@@rsislandcrafts Similar - sort of like the long, double-ended casserole potholders downsized to fit fingers and thumbs. I add small magnets inside at the “turning hole” so mitts can be conveniently stored on side of microwave. People love these and they’re washable! I designed these years ago due to my bilateral hand disability, but everyone who saw them wanted them! Lol.
Popcorn - I pop my popcorn with peanut oil and just salt it but every once in a while, I put a little butter on it yum Very nice tutorial Thank you Robin Sincerely Your Friend Lynne
Last year I bought a silicone popcorn bowl for the microwave. I like that I can make the popcorn without oil and if I don’t go crazy I can make It without burning any kernels. I like my popcorn with a little butter and salt but I once tried It with chili powder. I was surprised that It actually tasted good. 🍿🍿🦩
I use a long handled Phillips screwdriver to help turn and poke out points. It's sturdy, the end I'd round but has the slightest bit of a point. It's just enough of a point to pop that puppy out without poking holes in the corners.
I know several people that have the new version of the old fashioned stove top popcorn pan. It has a handle that you crank and It turns a paddle inside the pot mixing your kernels so they don’t burn. I always thought It was magic. 🍿🍿🍿. I stopped making popcorn on the stove when I bought a glass top stove.
Great idea for stocking fillers. Make 2 or 3 of different sizes (5"-7") and clip together with a gift tag/label. Also useful as a small wedding gift, with other sewn items: pot holders, place mat, kitchen towel, your tortilla warmer 😍 Only 5 months to Xmas now!!!
Great idea. While I was talking about the pot handle cover I was envisioning how It would look hanging at the store. A cardboard cutout of of a frying pan with the quilted cover on the handle. Otherwise the recipient will never guess what It is. It could be interesting. 😉
Really….popcorn is my favorite snack!!! I like it with the spray butter on it and seasonings. I don’t like my popcorn soggy with butter. But the spray butter is good (I think so) and a lot less fat and calories…. :). These are super cute! I wonder if you could make them really simply by taking a pot holder and folding it in half and hot gluing it. Funny….I have many of these I made years ago to hold my scissors!!!
I had the same thought minus the hot glue. It would be super quick to use a pre made potholder. I wish I could have the spray butter. I haven’t found a dairy free/soy free version down here. My first thought was my rotary cutter 🤣. I also have at least one here somewhere for scissors. 🍿🍿🍿
I’m sure they’ll appreciate the gift. I have an upcoming tutorial for something else that might make a nice combination gift for everyone. Pan liners. I don’t know about cast iron and popcorn. I imagine they did long ago. Maybe over a campfire. 🍿🍿🍿
They look very easy to make. I have some handles that have a semi circle (half circle) on both sides of some pans.Easy to carry due to the handles, but when hot, it's no so great to carry lol Would you do be able to another tutorial on how make a cover for them Robin?
I have a few pots that have the hanger too. I was thinking that It might work to make one a bit wider and maybe longer. To make a test version I would start by taking a piece of fabric and batting larger than the one I show in this video. Maybe 2-3” wider and 2” longer. Put pins in as a pretend seam. Slide It on the handle and see if It fits. I wouldn’t change up the shape or anything like that. It might be too complicated. If the test piece works then I’d move onto making a for real version but maybe not with my favorite fabrics. That way if It doesn’t work then I wouldn’t waste the good stuff. It never hurts to have an extra handle cover or you can gift to someone else with similar handles.
Robin, good afternoon. Do you have any suggestions for handle covers on any double handled magnellite pots? They are bare with 5 lines (mine is) engraved in the metal. I was asked to make a set, which now, I'm inspired to make me a set. 😉
I had to Google Magnalite pans. My first thought was the finger pot holders. Without having one of the pots in front of me I can’t tell if the handles are long enough to have handle covers and have them stay on. My suggestion would be either one part of the finger potholders if It would stay on the handle. Otherwise I’d suggest using the finger pot holders to grab the handles. I do not have a video for the finger pot holders but It is on my video list. Good luck.
@@rsislandcrafts Thank you Robin for responding. . I was thinking of trying one like this you made but make half that size and twice as wide? I'll make a template so I can have for the second set. Lol
When I read your first comment I thought maybe you were looking for something different than what I showed in this video. Sorry. In the comments below I was chatting with 68 69 about making the pan holders larger. The same theory should work for your situation. It’s a small project and It goes together so quickly that I wouldn’t hesitate to make a few test items. Making sure I wrote down my numbers for each test piece. Please email me if you need more help.

Try parm cheese on hot popcorn with a little butter..yum
Sounds yummy but I’m very allergic to milk. I’ve vegan butter but I haven’t come across vegan parmesan cheese yet. I love kettle corn though.

Thanks Cindi. That’s an excellent idea. No need to buy anything special.
@@rsislandcrafts you could probably find the small board covers cheaper than the fabric one, maybe
@@stitchincindi Probably. It’s something to watch for at thrift stores or garage sales.
Perfect video! I love your detailed explanation. I’d love to follow you for other projects!
Awesome! Thank you! I’d love to have you join our little community ✂️
I 💕 all types of popcorn. Also as a gift idea potholder, bowel cozy, towel and handle holder as a set.
I love combo gifts. And popcorn 🍿🍿🍿
What a nice idea, Robin. I didn’t see them before.

I have a couple more fun gift ideas planned. Pint size ice cream cozies and pan liners. The pan liners are great for stacking pans.
Great idea for everyone who cooks. I like my popcorn with butter 🤗😁

It took this video for me to learn that there’s a kettle corn popcorn seasoning ?!? I’ve been missing out.
There’s a few different seasonings you can buy. I remember kettle corn and white cheddar. That’s what my family liked.
