      With your 2.5hp tohatsu, if it’s a two stroke you can remove the restrictor washer from behind the carburetor and it’s a 3.3hp straight away. Nice and easy 😎😎😎

      The only mod that I can see is to fill in a slot for the fuel pump pulse to the block. The engine your modding has the half round port over to one side, and the Yamaha has a straight to the block port.
      I have both engines so I might try the mods you have done and add the Yamaha 6 or 8hp carb.

    That’s a great vid showing the details, so easy with some of the new small fuel injected four strokes that share a block etc, just buy the new fuel injection model and air intake mod to change from 9.9 to 15 and then change back again. But still not the punch and simplicity (smell) of a two stroke. Keep the vids coming please, love the content.

    Interesting stuff. I have done chainsaws and used a timing wheel to get timing of the ports and transfers to where I wanted them. Yeah it's not about just hogging it out as much as possible. You will end up with a 2 stroke with no low down toque. Good video.

    Dear Sir,
    Is it possible to do tuning on a 4-6hp outboard motor, but a four-stroke one, or is a two-stroke engine best for something like that...?

      I shaved the head to an exact amount and then re-tuned the pot. You cannot shave the head on the 5 without re-turning the squish band and the pot.

      @25hpboatracerman thanks for the reply. That's about the same I have come up with. Can't be too ambitious or all low end torque is lost. With 10" aluminium self made cleaver, lightly ported 5hp my 10 year old came up to almost 22 knots. Now I'll try to make an engine that would make 25kn 😅

      Hi mate,
      Yes definitely. Now that the motor is run in the compression is 145psi. It’s still not to bad to pull start.
      Keep in mind a 25 - 30hp tohatsu two stroke has about 150psi comp and they are still pull start.

    Hi Aussie Boat Guy! Can you help me please? I have 2003 Tohatsu 5hp, I have replaced crank bearings with top quality sealed bearings, QUESTION" I found a vacuum hose with One Way Valve in it from cylinder to lower case, is this for oil to bearing or pressure for lower crank seal? " As I was going to remove if for lubrication of bearing! And I have done all your mods from porting exhaust, intake and carb grinde from 15mm to 17mm, high compression head work, after market reeds, and rejetting! Thankyou, or anybody! Love all your videos cheers!

    • @25hpboatracerman
      @25hpboatracerman  Рік тому

      Hi mate,
      I would remove the bearing face plates so that they can be lubricated by the two stroke mix like the factory ones, not sure what probs could occur from having sealed ones?? If it was a good idea, they would be in all the motors from factory.
      That line is to circulate oil from the bottom of block to the top, leave installed and make sure it goes on the same way as it has a one way valve in it.
      Hope this helps mate.

    How tight of squish can you safely go on a typical 2 stroke outboard when having a head shaved ?? Just not sure what size or make outboards have heads or bling hole cylinders. Love you videos brother. Yours in 2 stroke outboards

    • @25hpboatracerman
      @25hpboatracerman  6 місяців тому

      Hi Mate,
      It likely changes with most motors, I tend to shave about 20 though off some of my stock heads as a start. Some the squish is to close to the piston to shave any off without re-turning the squish.
      on some motors I remove the head gasket, re-bolt the head on gently and check squish with that thickness removed as a start.
      Cheers 🍻

      Hi mate,
      My mate used to deal Ramco boats in Australia, I liked them 👍
      The USA merc 15 is a nice motor and if in good nic they are smooth and quiet too. Firstly I have a few vids on balancing props you might want to check out if your prop is a bit banged up.
      I am not sure you would spin up an 11p but worth a try for sure.
      Often for example the 9p will get up on the plane well and top out at say 40kph revving at around 5800rpm and an 11p may be slow up onto the plane, top out at 40kph revving at 5100rpm.
      Like going up a hill in your car in 3rd or 5th gear.
      In saying that, I always try different props to find the best performer for each setup.
      I am currently using a 10p alloy on my 18hp 11ft tinny, tried others even stainless but can’t argue with what works best.
      Your motor has a 2 to 1 gear case drive and the 15 super (18hp) has a 1.84 to 1 drive.
      I have owned that motor you have and was impressed so definitely try some setups and keep me posted.

      Check your manufacturer for what sealants they require.

      Hi mate,
      Unfortunately not, a bigger carb on that motor without porting does nothing as it is so restricted it cannot accept more fuel - air mix, on a lot of outboards you can add a bigger carburetor (make sure to get the jetting correct) and you will gain a bit of hp - like the 30hp Yamaha 3 cylinder, the 40hp Tohatsu carbs fit and give more power.
