I so loved Lost Man’s Lane!! I also have lived all the books I’ve read under his Michael Koryta name; particularly An Honest Man! I’ve now added the Castillo, Armstrong, and Leede books into the 2025 TBR!! Thank you!! 🙏🏻 😊
Lost Mans Lane may be my favorite book of the year too! Have you read The Chill by Scott Carson? Another terrific book. This author is definitely on my radar.
Great video. It's always fun to see your best of the year lists. I am most interested in trying the books or series by Armstrong, Lapena, Castillo, and McFadden. I totally agree with your choice of Lost Man's Lane as the best thriller this year. That was such a good read.
Hi Rachel, just found out Disturbing the Dead is part of a series (you probably mentioned it) and The Toronto Public Library has all three. I will definitely check them out. FYI, Kelley Armstrong is Canadian (you probably knew). Cheers, Andrew
Hi Rachel, hope you are well. Greetings from Toronto again. Rachel does Thrillers. Cool! I’ve put Disturbing the Dead, What Have You Done?, and Lost Man’s Lane into my TBR notebook. Freida McFadden was just not for me. I couldn’t get into her writing style. To each his/her own. Take care and good reading to you, my fellow Canadian!
Love this time of year where favorites lists are coming out- and I was definitely excited for this one coming from you, Rachel! Great recs here and super glad I found the two Frieda McFadden's you mentioned here recently- I've read 3 of her books so far and dang they are so readable! Definitely will be checking out Scott Carson's Lost Man's Lane, thinking it has to be pretty excellent to be in your #1 spot :)
The best 2024 Mystery/Thriller I read was The God of the Woods by Liz Moore. Honorable mention: The Mysterious Case of the Alperton Angels by Janice Hallett. While I enjoyed parts of Creation Lake and laughed out loud several times, it did not really work as a novel for me. It certainly did not feel like a thriller. More experimental and...well, meandering. I think I like Kushner's nonfiction better than her fiction, but I might try one of her earlier novels to give it another shot. Thanks for the recommendations!
I enjoyed American Rapture and am about to read Maeve Fly. The fact that you actually like the latter even more makes me confident I’ll have a good experience with it. Be well.⚛❤
Thank you, great video! Cant wait for your top horror books.😁

Enjoyed the first 2 Kelly Armstrong books recommended by you. Just put the third one on hold with my library. Thanks for another great video!
Thanks for the recs. Will probably check out Lapena's book soon. Happy Holidays. 📚
Lapena's books are all really good!
Great video Rachel! I’ll be reading The Grey Wolf this weekend thanks to your recommendation! Can’t wait!✨✨

I love Ms. Freida, she is the queen of domestic thrillers.
Keep up the great work. We readers need you :)

Hey Rachel,
Lost Man’s Lane was a winner for me🐍
One of your recommendations!
Would like to check out Creation Lake.
Take Care📚

Have you read The last one at the wedding?I was kinda expecting it to be on your list...
I've heard it was boring and the ending was bad, so I took it off my TBR!
@BookReviewsWithBecky I didn't find it boring at all and I liked the ending😂

If you like eggs 🥚🥴
ugh Freida - her books are not good in general but this is one is seriously just an objectively awful book.
And the blatant plagiarism from other authors in many of her books makes her an instant no for me.
@ exactly! She publishes like 6 books a year- it’s insane. Seriously if you think she’s a good writer I have a long list of authors you need to read
SO BAD
😊🏆🏆🏆
Normally , I enjoy Frieda McFadden but this plot just sounded gross! I loved What Have You Done! Did not see that twist coming!
