The foreign policies of the western countries are based on racism, if arabs, africans, asians, slavs die by the hundreds of thousands like in Jemen, Iraq, Syria, Ukraine it's not very concerning to them, but if their is a slight chance that they get in harns way, everyone on the planet must be concerned and do their best to give them security, even if it's against their own interest. Think about it, did they realy made an effort to stop the war in Ukraine? Would it be so hard to say, OK Russia we will not expand NATO to your doorstep but you will give security guarantees to your neighbouring countries???? Is it impossible for the western powers to stop the genocide in Jemen? Does Saudi Arabia build the warplanes and bombs themself or do they buy them from the US and other western states? Who are the biggest arms sellers in the world, is it possible that it's the same countries who are always talking about human rights? Is it a human right to die by western made weapons? Is it beneficial for gender equality to be murdered by western bombs irrespective of your gender???

finally someone with common sense, for example. War in ex Yugoslavia in 1989 ( thats when it really started not when the west said it did), west has placed sanctions on entire region and embargo on weapons being given or sold to any side involved. Even Russia was part of it. Yes black market was operating but there was no weapons delivery like they do to Ukraine. If NATO really wanted to stop the war, they would tell Russia ok you stop and we remove sanctions and negotiate from there but the real agenda is to have prolonged war as no western soldiers are at risk ( they dont care about mercenaries ) and to use it globally as an excuse for financial crisis every western country has, all western countries have inflation rising and cost of living raising but they had to hide it somehow as pandemic wasnt any more a valid excuse.

So all they had to do was say they weren't joining NATO huh?
What about what Putin said when he announced his special military operation? He said they did it to stop the Nazi regime (who is jewish). He said they did it to stop the genocide. He said they did it to stop the biological weapons being made. He said they did it to prevent Ukraine from developing neclear weapons (even though they have had the ability for 50 years). He said they did it to liberate the Ukrainian people from oppression. He said they did it to restore Russian culture to Ukraine. These are all his words, watch his hour + long announcment when this started.
So you think all of those reasons would magically disappear if they said "we aren't going to join NATO"?

The only countries whit legitimate existential concerns I see are Moldova and Ukraine.
What Russia is concerned is that it won’t be able to manipulate those countries that easy anymore.
According to the Russia Nato founding act from 1997 the US nor Russia were allowed to station nuclear weapons in east Europe no matter in which alliance those countries are. This treaty was abandoned first by Russia then by the US and UK in march 2022. Now the US can station nuclear weapons in any countries bordering Russia no matter if they are in Nato or not. A Nato membership was never a requirements to host those weapons.

Do not conflate Finland with Sweden in this and remember that applications to NATO are individual.
Sweden prides itself as being all things to everyone and "support" for Kurds is in there with other virtue-signalling things which Sweden polishes and displays while hiding violent crime in many cities.
There are 30 or so Kurds arrested for something and Turkey has asked for extradition. The precise details and legal niceties need to be described clearly rather than the fog of ignorance reducing a complex matter to a simple stand-off between Turkey (joined NATO 1952) has a distinguished history of action and mediation but it has a long running dispute with a particular Kurdish political group. Not with all Kurds and many are key in the armed services and industry as well as government and diplomacy.
People in the west fail to understand that Turkey has the key to the Black Sea to Caspian region with proximate neighbors (especially Khazakstan) the towards the lands where Indian/Chinese trade will expand. Russian railways will also be involved and Chinese investment will improve development in the Eurasian sector after the Ukraine conflict is resolved. Do not underestimate Turkey but also do not mistake it for being other than itself.
The status of the 30 prisoners is for lawyers and so calm down and Sweden will or will not join NATO after a lot more talking and soul searching -- notably about its "strategic neutrality" = hypocrisy 1939-1945 and whether or not the country's weakness of government stability would make it a reliable NATO partner.
Finland is Nordic but not Scandinavian. Its culture is unique and a self-reliant society emerged from the the post-1945 years, a few ceremonial border treaties with the Soviets and votes against hosting foreign troops.
If it joins NATO it offers passive tracking for military and civil use entering the Arctic development phase by relevant nations but Finland will not tolerate being used by the USA -- the leader of NATO -- for threats or 'special equipment'.
NATO really could do with new leadership because Stoltenberg is tired and was about to end a long term. Perhaps Secs General should no longer be ex senior politicians.

At the same time, Erdogan has denied that he intends to invade northern Syria again to create a broad buffer zone between the areas controlled by the Kurdish YPG and Turkey. But since Turkey then risks ending up in direct fighting with the Russian soldiers in the area, Erdogan must get some kind of green light from Putin. By arguing about NATO enlargement, he hopes to win plus points from Putin. At home, he must win an election to be held next year. Most opinion polls show that he risks losing. To show that he can force the United States and other NATO countries to make concessions, he hopes to increase voter support.
Bringing life to the fight against the terror-branded PKK, the main internal enemy, also goes home to the electorate and makes it easier to ban the pro-Kurdish party HDP. Sweden and Finland's NATO applications have ended up in the middle of a complex political game where the two countries do not have control over their own destiny even if they make concessions to Turkey. In the end, it is how far the United States is prepared to go to pressure Turkey that makes the decision. Given what Joe Biden has said so far, it is difficult to see that the United States would accept a continued Turkish veto against Sweden and Finland for any length of time.

@@BOBO-wl3yp If Swe and Fin joins NATO there will be less USA in Europe so they will gain on it too and can concentrate more on the other side. Many Americans are starting to open their eyes to see that their system ain't as perfect as they thought it to be when comparing themselves with Europe so the influence goes both ways.
I'm just watching the talks between our president and Stoltenberg. The Turkiye issue seems not to be only about us, more a shout from Turkiye to the rest of NATO to take their terrorist problem seriously and not just write down a law and say ok we did it. We do have diplomats that have managed to see both sides in issues before and get groups down to talk so maybe we can be a good tool for Turkiye to get their voice heard(There is a risk that Erdogan is just using this as a tool to get reelected but lets hope their complaints are real and from the hearth).
We already have defensive pact in EU, we have separate pacts with our neighbors. USA ain't using us, it was our choice to apply because the war in Ukraine brings back the history we had with USSR and this time even if Russia is weak compared to USSR we have to have all possible alliances not to have to do it alone again.
So what USA gains from us joining is the European front getting stronger and will free up some resources for them(yes they will still send troops here to train with Europe but they don't need as many permanent troops)
What we gain from NATO. We get triple defensive alliances with some, double with others and then we get Norway, Canada, USA and Turkiye also(I might have missed someone). Like stoltenberg said: When we are in NATO the Nordic countries can have their own defensive force(Yes we are that united that we don't even bother to defend towards each other).
What we also gain is another legit reason to protect Estonia and the other NATO members can protect them better(yes they are one of our family members that managed to survive the horrors of "Russia" towards our people). You do know that back in the day Finland sent volunteers into USSR to help our siblings to get free, like we were a thorn in "Russia's" back until they let us go and after that we tried to help them to be part of Europe instead of a thorn in Europe's side.
Putin ruined everything that the generations had achieved and now it will probably take 80 years again for them to even be trusted.... Like this whole thing is so stupid. Yes we all disagree with a lot but is war the solution...
