You can use either channel for time code plus you can also pick 25 fps or 30fps depending on systems you may be working with. All you have to remember is passing the correct channel to the correct equipment. I've only heard time-code played to the audience once. Quite painful. A new firmware version (v6 currently under test Feb 2018) for the FireTek FM-99s remote controller will now generate time-code automatically.
