Deborah Cornell me too! I think it is hilarious to hear Brian may speak so politely and then here comes a Roger and he’ll say some curse words. I know they are Bestie‘s now but at one time I believe that Roger and Freddie were soulmates.
Hard to judge value on the gear, tens of thousands for sure. It’s when you add the “Deacy Amp” that John wired custom for Brian (meaning it’s one of a kind) and the absolutely priceless “Red Special” it goes into the stratosphere. The Red Special alone has a value SO high that it cannot be insured as it has none other like it to compare to. It’s absolutely priceless. Insane.
Hands up for John Deacon showing everyone just how excellent he is on the bass because people notice Freddie Mercury and Brian May being out front the most but don't tend to see the PowerHouse in the back; John Deacon and Roger Taylor. Roger spaying a lot and has some drum solos so he gets more attention and John has a few bass riffs but he's the quiet Dark Horse that's really very powerful. I love this video because it shows exactly how good he is not playing alongside Brian and everyone else. Got to remember that John Deacon joined to this group in February 1971 six months before he was even 20 years old. He was 19!!! They had gone through about six bass players because they were either good bass players and had a crappy attitude or they were awful bass players with a good attitude. John auditioned and was excellent!! the first couple of months was to see if he would fit in and he did. Most known bass players with that level of skill would have been arrogant but John wasn't- just good! Those four guys worked together so well and I think of bands with the best chemistry like Led Zeppelin and Queen.. and they'll definitely go down in history. Depending on which one is your favorite band depends on which type of music you favor most. I like some hard rock music, but can't stand heavy metal so I tend to leave more towards the Glam and progressive rock ballads and operatic Orchestra sounds--- QUEEN & GENESIS. ❤❤❤ Queen being the better and the most powerful/lasting. Phil Collins reached the level of success that Queen members did, but nobody else in the band did except Peter Gabriel in the 1980s. Led Zeppelin's all of my love was my song when I just wanted to chill.
You know what's almost as much fun as watching them work? Watching your inner rocker emerge. You've been feeding it some great music for several weeks now. It's blossoming, growing..Release the Kraken!!
At first when you said it seemed quieter in the studio than you expected, I said to myself "Freddie hasn't arrived yet." lol And then when you said magic was happening, there he was as the song began to take shape. it's fascinating to see the band working together like that. Working hard but having fun, too! My favorite parts were when Freddie was trying to explain to Roger what kind of sound to play on his drums, and when they were working on getting the lyrics to fit the melody. Oh and of course, Freddie's improvisation: "One dump, one turd, two tits, John Deacon"!
@@Motown-1966 It was Roger Taylor's idea to write a song honoring Martin Luther King. Roger said that the longer they were in the studio, the more the lyrics changed. Roger stated it in this documentary. Beginning in 1985, every member of the band got the writing credits no matter who wrote it.
Hey nice reaction!!🙌🏻 I just love these kind of „behind the scenes“. That’s why I just can recommend the behind the scenes/ making of for Freddie‘s version of „The Great Pretender“. Very funny! Sadly I cannot tell you how much all the music based stuff (like instruments) they owned back then was actually worth but a little interesting fact I can tell you is, that Brian May‘s guitar is infact the least valuable thing they owned as a band because he made it by himself together with his father when he was a teenager and they mainly used things lying around the house like parts of an old bicycle, knitting needles and so on☺️ hope to see you soon👍🏻🎉🙌🏻
Mrs Fahrenheit It was actually the only invaluable thing they had (besides maybe Deacys Amp) bc it literally couldn't be replaced. Brian has stated that he can't insure it bc it is actually priceless.
Arwen Odinson yep weird situation one one hand it’s basically the „cheapest“ thing they owned but on the other hand it’s valuable because it is unique object and irreplaceable🤷🏼♀️☺️ quite paradoxical in a way isn’t it?😂🙏🏻
Mrs Fahrenheit It is weird! I'm reading the book by John and Freddies roadie and he talked about how in the early days, everyone felt bad for Brian bc he had a homemade/non-branded guitar. The crew members were very judgemental about his "cheap" handmade guitar until they saw him play it and saw how successful Queen was becoming. Never judge a book by its cover!
It really is a treasure to see how it all comes together. Just like it says in "We Are the Champions" when the lyric said they thank us all but it's hard work and no bed of roses. They worked their asses off to give us their best. No ProTools then. Two inches of tape. Lots of cuts, only so many tracks to put over that two inches. Can't have many mistakes whist recording.
I'm having such fun watching you enjoying Queen... I always liked them, but never realized how great they really were until I saw the movie and started getting more into them. Happy New Year!!!
Love John such a nice guy, refusing to take credit he doesn’t feel he deserves. The video thing, I sort of feel the same about what lyrics are supposed to mean, because we always have our own take on a songs meaning.
Have you checked out the video Queen put out for Freddie after he passed? It was written by them all and sung by Brian and Roger. It is so heartfelt and truthful to how they felt about Fred. It's called "No One Like You". Check it out! ✌🏼🌹
Something that always amused me in this video: When Freddie comes in and sees where the mic stand is he says something like "I need a little fucking room." And near the end of the video when he's singing, you see that the mic stand is nearly across the room. He had more than a little room. heh.
I like you, you're not like any other queen reactor and newbie. I would love to see you interview Brian may and Roger taylor and ask them about queen history. If only...
It is nice to see the creative process. It is amazing to see where the song Began as compared to where it Ended. That is why I recommend Studio versions. You get the Layers, complexity and harmonies that are virtually impossible for the band to replicate in a Live performance. Now, let's start the new year out right with: Queen: "Brighton Rock", "White Man" (official versions). Queen at its best!!!
WOW. I love that your Queen 101 journey led you 2 this meticulous, insightful, pure MAGIC from scratch, unfolding and building before our eyes. The creative process either is or ain't there, and MAN did it flow seamlessly 4 this song between such a UNIQUE, ICONIC quartet of artistic talent. Plus, there's the added bonus of really seeing their individual personalities, FANTASTIC, PRECISE musicianship, and powerful chemistry. Keep the great Queen reactions a goin!!!
I had just finished watching the documentary. Then I came across your input. Like I said over there, I felt like I was there. Yes it's TRUE, we don't know all the work that goes in to making a song. I love Queen's music. I do miss Freddie. Good to see Roger and Brian keeping this band alive. AND Freddie. Thanks my friend.
Millions worth. Back in the early eighties they guys were filling every venue they played in unlike most bands of this period. They had different set ups for each type. One set up for concert halls one for stadiums. Lots of duplicates. Except for the (red special) that is a one of a kind Guitar that Brian and his dad built at home. Never did something like that before so they just did it. lol
You should check out 'Inside The Rhapsody', Brian and Roger talk you through how the song came about, how the video was made and then it ends with Brian taking you through the mastertape and how the tracks were laid down for it.
Yes! Part 3 of the doc where Brian plays the ancient master tape with all of the individual vocals/instrumentation is a must see. Brian is re-living the whole thing, and it's so beautiful to watch. Seeing Freddie's doodles on the song sheet made me so happy
Love this. It's so true when Freddie said a video can ruin someones image of the song. It's the same when you hear someone live and you realise they can't sing out of a studio. Top of The Pops in the UK used to be live and if a band played or sang badly their place in the charts would drop overnight. For that reason bands began to mime, some good bands were so pissed off by having to mime they purposefully didn't, this was the beginning of the end for TOTP as it was being shown up as a joke but it was the only way bands could reach a wider audience so they were stuck between a rock and a hard place really.
Much more fun watching a song being made when everyone is in the studio than it is today ,all the hard work and everyone playing their part , love your reactions and your due diligence lol good luck from Liverpool uk x
Great reaction! You should react to no one but you (only the good die young) it’s written about Freddie’s passing and Brian and roger sing it. It’s a great song always makes me tear up.
You're so right about not thinking about what goes into producing a song. Until I saw the making of the Radio Ga Ga video where Freddie is checking a crib-sheet for the lyrics, it had never occurred to me that when the song is written by someone else in the group, Freddie has to learn the words. Such an obvious thing and I feel so stupid, but I had never, ever thought about it.
Yes, watching genius, times 4, at work. We are blessed and very fortunate that some of these sessions were recorded and made available for us to enjoy!
Hi I've been watching your videos for a while now. I've been a fan of queen. Since 1991. Since I was 11. I'm so pleased to see over time. And over your videos. You become more of a queen fan. Once the music gets you. You're a fan forever
This was an awesome reaction my friend... I love watching your love and admiration for Queen and Freddie grow. But if you don’t bring the New Year in by reacting to their Live Aid performance, it’s quite possible I will self-combust 😭... Happy Hogmanay from Scotland 🏴 x
Great reaction, so glad you finally got to see a bit of the magic ( aka hard work + talent)😁 its lovely to see them bouncing ideas about and enjoying themselves. I agree with most of the requests below, though I would like to see your reaction to 'I'm going slightly mad' the reason behind the song is sad but Freddie turns it into humour beautifully as always. I must say, loving your tshirt, Ali is another beautiful, talented and loved man, my favourite quote is "Hating people because of their color is wrong. And it doesn't matter which color does the hating. It's just plain wrong.". See you next year!! 🖥🎙🎹🥁🎸🎶🎄🥂🎆💖
Please react to I'm Going Slightly Mad! It is an awesome song, and the music video is fun to watch Also I recommend Who Wants To Live Forever - Live at Wembley that is one of my favorite performances by them
My favourite Queen performance is White Queen Live @ Hammersmith '75. It has the most amazing, spine chilling instrumental section which when mixed with Freddie's vocals make the whole thing just out of this world.
OMG ...such a Fantastic song ...and they seemed to have such a great time making it ... the chemistry between the members of the group is awesome, at times they drove each other crazy but that's the dynamics of family and brothers ... cuz they were like brothers ...
John Ishmar Punta...ITA but I'd suggest he watch the one with the interview and extended version as it was endearing, funny, & poignant all at the same time! Everybody says Roger was a looker in this one...for me...he was average. Freddie was smoking hot in this one. I do love the banter infront and behind the scenes!
It is incredible that there are still hot songs from Queen you haven’t reacted to and I’m saying this bc it shows how many popular/hit songs Queen has done.Pls React to The story of Bohemian rhapsody (2004 part 1and 2)pls it’s really good
This is why their music, their performances, their legacy, is so far above all the other (great :) ) pretenders. They didn't just bash out a tune - they lived it, re-worked it, refined it and ultimately remastered it into what we are so very privileged to listen to. Given the incredible array of tracks on all their albums, just imagine the countless hours they must have spent getting the absolute most out of every one of them. Masters? Gods? Superlatives fail me!
Yes, Freddie had a very special sense of what could be attained from each instrument, and his own voice, and knew what was right. He said he never wanted to be bored, so he was making sure we would never be with their music. And we haven't!
16:12 It wasn't actually analog reel to reel like previous Queen albums but DAT (Digital Audio Tape) This was the first Queen Album ( A Kind of Magic) to be recorded digitally.
The mastermind and perfectionist making sure it is absolutely perfect for the fans of us out there, it is a brilliant insight into Freddie, would love to have seen one of him with Bohemian Rhapsody
When you get a chance react to the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert that the surviving members of Queen and other amazing acts put together at Wembley Stadium not long after Freddie's death. Left me in happy tears!!!
With this being New Year's Eve, I don't know if you're planning to post a reaction tonight & if you are you might already have a video picked out. But I'd like to suggest one for now or whenever you want to do another fun, simple (by Queen's standards) straight-ahead rocker. "Now I'm Here" Hammersmith 1979. Freddie's half-mic stand somehow gets a little bent. And at one point he loses it to the crowd & reels it back in in time to continue singing without missing a beat. If & when, make sure it's the one posted by Chief Mouse. For some reason it has fewer views than other versions but it's much better quality!
You not kidding brau. They really did work hard. No flash in the pan..... epic talents behind the machine Queen. And they friggen earned their acclaim. What other band rehearsed before LiveAid?? Queen. Nobody else and the performances tell the tale.
A journalist/music critic for a magazine, said, when she visited Queen in the 1970s, when they were recording, they spent the entire day doing just 30 seconds of music. Queen's jam sessions weren't so musicians making music, but scientists experimenting and taking their time with their work, and checking each step of the way was perfect. And of course, all four of them being individual song writers, there were numerous arguments all the time.
There’s still a lot of popular songs Queen did you haven’t reacted to like you’re my best friend, I’m going slightly mad, play the game, flash but I think before you react to those you have to see The story of Bohemian rhapsody 2004 part 1 of course
Funny you should say that you can see the magic happening, considering that One Vision is from the 'A Kind Of Magic' album. Speaking of which, someone combined 'A Kind Of Magic' and it's reprise 'A Kind Of A Kind Of Magic' into one extended track and it's pretty damn awesome, especially as they edited the video to fit too. You should look for it, A Kind Of Magic Extended. It's an awesome track BTW, and one of their better known ones, hell you might even recognise it 😂!
It's great that the movie caused y'all to finally wake up and hear what I, and so many others have known since they banned together. Good morning, folks.
You should check out these songs by Queen: No One But You (Only The Good Die Young) - This song I’m pretty sure is about Freddie because of his death, really sad, and only hearing Brian and Roger’s voices without Freddie’s voice is sad to think about. ‘39 A Winter’s Tale And these live performances: I Want It All - Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert We Will Rock You - Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert Radio Ga Ga - Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert Love of My Life - Live in Argentina Somebody To Love - Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert The main reason why I think you should react to the songs performed at the tribute concert is because of the crowd. It was like Freddie could lead them without even being there ahah! And if you can please react to some of Freddie’s solo pieces: How Can I Go On In My Defence
I love this video so much One true religion part is soo freaking Funny 😂 Also can you please react to Freddie Mercury - Living on my own The video Shows you how Freddie's 39th Birthday party looked and it's fun😁
Interesting that Queen made Bohemian Rhapsody without any money behind them at the time and with limited equipment. As you said, they have all the bells and whistles in this video later on when they were successful.
It would be hard since Freddie is a perfectionist. Look at how great all their songs are. I wouldn’t be surprised if some bands say “good enough” I don’t think you would ever hear that from them.
"That ROTTER Freddie!"" I love Roger. Really, you've gotta love all four of those guys.💙
Insane.
Red is so special. No other instrument like it in the world, only can be played by it's owner.
marningritaguy I have a soul sinking feeling he’s taking it with him when he leaves the earth
marningritaguy there’s two others. Made by an Australian luthier. Given to Brian and literally never get touched.
Also it’s made from his old oak table and fire mantle.
Sugarcat I’d hope he’d put it into a museum. It’s a part of modern music history and British history.
Just amazing how these guys could work together. Get a little upset, but end up laughing together and creating a great song. Queen forever.
Hands up for John Deacon showing everyone just how excellent he is on the bass because people notice Freddie Mercury and Brian May being out front the most but don't tend to see the PowerHouse in the back; John Deacon and Roger Taylor. Led Zeppelin's all of my love was my song when I just wanted to chill.
I would think Brian’s red guitar is priceless by itself
nah.... I would think this is the most valuable music instrument in the world, over 100mil$
It literally is. Brian can't insure it bc of that!
Wow I didn’t really know that. I had suspicions because it’s one of a kind and getting old.
Anita Paulus I believe it's right at 55 years old! Amazing how it's still better than ever. Shows how great the craftsmanship is.
Arwen Odinson I agree, brilliant man
You know what's almost as much fun as watching them work? Watching your inner rocker emerge. You've been feeding it some great music for several weeks now. It's blossoming, growing..Release the Kraken!!

Etc 😩 Roger simply understood Frediense 😂
It's funny how this is Roger Taylor's song but Freddie is directing him how to play the drums.
Tom Crawford...I thought they all wrote this?

Freddy could suggest ideas for instruments bc he played 6 himself.
I know, the irony wasn't lost on me. Freddie was a bit controlling
Missing35mm controlling? If that’s the case, he was doing the right thing considering how successful queen became.
Hey nice reaction!!🙌🏻

Arwen Odinson yep weird situation one one hand it’s basically the „cheapest“ thing they owned but on the other hand it’s valuable because it is unique object and irreplaceable🤷🏼♀️☺️
quite paradoxical in a way isn’t it?😂🙏🏻

Jeepster Peepster well - how very disappointing 😔...
Happy new year from me in the UK to you and all your family.
It is priceless because it helped them create their incredible music
One Vision is one of my favorite Queen songs. Brian’s guitar in the beginning makes me so happy, and I love this documentary
So much work that goes into this Masterpieces we enjoy
WHEW! Thank you Guys, glad they thought it, "Was Worth It"!
Please react to I'm Going Slightly Mad! It is an awesome song, and the music video is fun to watch

@@samloveslfc that's my favourite aswell. Love it
The slightly mad making of

OMG ...such a Fantastic song ...and they seemed to have such a great time making it ... the chemistry between the members of the group is awesome, at times they drove each other crazy but that's the dynamics of family and brothers ... cuz they were like brothers ...
Magical!!! 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Love you are doing this video ! It’s great ❤️❤️
The visual of the video, in the case of Queen/Freddie, is a wonderful glimpse for us into the musical talent and brilliance that went into it.
Hey, hey, hey!!! Please react to Freddie Mercury Solo....Living On My Own and I Was Born To Love You. I truly enjoy your reactions!!!!!!!

What's up bro! Please next " I'm Going Slightly Mad " or " Breakthru " I have been listening for 20 years. Greatest band of all time!
Yes, Freddie had a very special sense of what could be attained from each instrument, and his own voice, and knew what was right. He said he never wanted to be bored, so he was making sure we would never be with their music. And we haven't!
Love this video thank you 😊
That stuff is like gold
YAY....HAPPY DANCE
Wait till they get to the alternate lyrics..chicken feet baby
Thanks! One suggestion: "Freddie Mercury: The Untold Story" - it is by far the best documentary to watch if you want to learn more about Freddie.
thats stupid shallow people who watch soap operas, and "voice of..."
Rover Waters ?????
Stian Bye ITA!
I have come to love them all, and I notice belatedly that Brian May has a sweetness to his face. I would call him the "artiste.""
*the Mixing boards are a million bucks +
*Brian always wore clogs.. hilarious
I could watch them work the rest of my life. BRILLIANT
"One dump, one turd, two tits, John Deacon" cracks me up every time.
Agree with everything you said!!
I likr how you react to almost about queen!! Legendary band
Incredible
All that work for one great song what a band 😄
Yes!
Now I'm here 💥💥
Now I'm there 💥💥

🎸🎤💙
@@deborahcornell171 Yeah I know you just go crazy! Cause it makes you live AGAIN! 😎
You not kidding brau. They really did work hard. No flash in the pan..... epic talents behind the machine Queen. And they friggen earned their acclaim. What other band rehearsed before LiveAid?? Queen. Nobody else and the performances tell the tale.
The Miracle! The Miracle!!
Brian said once they had a warehouse of equipment and surprisingly the only thing stolen was the white guitar that Freddie sometimes used.
I love this!!! ❤
Amazing
A journalist/music critic for a magazine, said, when she visited Queen in the 1970s, when they were recording, they spent the entire day doing just 30 seconds of music. Queen's jam sessions weren't so musicians making music, but scientists experimenting and taking their time with their work, and checking each step of the way was perfect. And of course, all four of them being individual song writers, there were numerous arguments all the time.
I love Roger’s drumming.
Hard to believe they all smoked and could still sing
Perfection, wow
It must have been a blast working with Freddie Mercury.
Queen just performed at the Oscars, and won four Oscars! Time for a couple Queen songs! ❤️👑👑❤️🥂🥂
Yes you're right magic was happening
"That rotter Freddie" Lol I love Roger
You should check out these songs by Queen:
No One But You (Only The Good Die Young) - This song I’m pretty sure is about Freddie because of his death, really sad, and only hearing Brian and Roger’s voices without Freddie’s voice is sad to think about.
‘39
A Winter’s Tale
And these live performances:
I Want It All - Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert
We Will Rock You - Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert
Radio Ga Ga - Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert
Love of My Life - Live in Argentina
Somebody To Love - Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert
The main reason why I think you should react to the songs performed at the tribute concert is because of the crowd. It was like Freddie could lead them without even being there ahah!
And if you can please react to some of Freddie’s solo pieces:
How Can I Go On
In My Defence
Did you notice that Freddie and John switch shirts.
All those guitars, but Brian only needs one!
I love this video so much
One true religion part is soo freaking Funny 😂
Also can you please react to Freddie Mercury - Living on my own
The video Shows you how Freddie's 39th Birthday party looked and it's fun😁
Me encanto tu reaccion.
Notice how many times their shirts change, this must have taken days or maybe weeks, I love this song.
Interesting that Queen made Bohemian Rhapsody without any money behind them at the time and with limited equipment. As you said, they have all the bells and whistles in this video later on when they were successful.
Pretty cool to watch them develop the song huh. Queen is pure genius.
It would be hard since Freddie is a perfectionist. Look at how great all their songs are. I wouldn’t be surprised if some bands say “good enough” I don’t think you would ever hear that from them.
Perfectionest at his best.
This song was in the film iron eagle, starring lounge gosset Jr.
“They can hear things that we don’t” so very true
Freddie forever my Heart ❤
THE band 👍👍👍
