These guys are all amazing, but I gotta give a shout-out to my boy John Deacon on Bass, bringing that “backbone of thump” in the live concert. Gahhhh, I love him!
Maria Rosen Me too!! I don’t think he’s given enough credit for his massive contributions to Queen. Sad that he never recovered from Freddie’s death. It would be interesting to listen to the songs without the bass.... then everyone would realise how important John was🤗
M. M. Monroe Oh I agree wholeheartedly about those who’ve know and loved Queen from the start, and of course Freddie and the boys being his champion, but amongst the press and some commentators - even Bob Geldoff dismissed him in one interview - he’s just been ignored. I don’t think the fact that he wrote so many of Queen’s massive hits is recognised by the wider public. But yes, thank goodness for the movie and for channels like this one. I’ve always been nuts about Freddie but I love all of them:) A Granny to two little ones but a girl can still dream😇
I’m Weak For Deaky I agree with you and I absolutely adore John Deacon. He’s the Dark horse of the bunch, and even though he is quiet one - sometimes - he could come out with the number one song overnight.
As awesome as Freddie is, in this live performance of Magic, Roger, John and Brian are actually the stars and Freddie knew it. The kicking bass, thumping drums and shredding guitar take over. What I love about Freddie is, during the live stuff he is the maestro too, they watch for his cues and how he prolongs the beats and melody etc, waving his hands, total control. And what a proper team they were.
I love it! You’re finally starting to appreciate what Brian May and John Deacon bring to the fold. But don’t forget Roger Taylor! They are geniuses four!
Queen always brought it up a level in the live version. I was in college at this time and I remember being amazed that they were still producing great music after 13 years. They played 2 nights at Wembley and the concert was sold out in 1 day. Sadly, the Magic Tour would be Freddie's last. I never would have guessed Queen would still be dazzling the fans in 2019! Legendary.
I've just binge watched all of your Queen reaction videos from Bohemian Rhapsody to this...I think you're my favourite Queen reactor. Not only are your reactions great and genuine but I love the research you do beforehand on each video....it really makes a difference to know what you're watching! I'm someone who has been a Queen fan since a small child (around 1984/85) when my Dad had a copy of The Works album...I loved it so on Christmas Day 1986 a 6 year old me had the A Kind Of Magic album on vinyl...I was a fan from then on following all of their new stuff and finally discovering their older stuff around 1990. When Freddie died I was 11, but it didn't really hit me until I got older...my biggest sadness is never been able to see him perform live. I'm a professional musician now and have done thousands of shows since the mid 90s, met Brian May & Roger Taylor on a few occasions...but my most nerve racking yet honourable gig to date is performing for Freddie's Mom & Sister at an art museum back in 2001! (That's as close as I'm going to get now) Incidentally they are all great people. Sorry for the low level name dropping, just trying to illustrate that I'm someone who knows his onions with Queen and not easily impressed by reaction videos...especially someone like Queen, who due to their resurgence at the moment is very much a band wagon to jump on! You've impressed me mate...I've subbed. Keep up the great work 👍
If I see TMG Family reacting to Queen, I jump right on it. You make me smile inside and out. Sometimes you make me laugh out loud. At 75, I have been listening to Queen most of my life. Never made it to a Queen concert back then. Just couldn't afford it, but have always loved Queen.
I just love your reactions. Me too......can never get enough of Freddie Mercury!!!! It's just impossible.. PS. I think I'm in love with a dead man. From Bethlehem Pa.
“It’s a kind of magic, a kind of magic” is a really famous line and used a lot.Its like “ another one bites the dust”.So its used in commercials and movies.
Thats the concert you must watch in its entirety!!! You dont have to watch the whole thing with us , its kind of long, but watch it on your spare time then you can show us your favorite parts!! Freddie is a God, Rami who played him in the movie said it himself!! Freddie had a glorious voice, there will be no one like him👌🏼👌🏼Queen had very bad press during their career I dont know what people were thinking Their music is gold💜💜💜💜💜💜
So many memories. Hit my first joint to "A Night at the Opera" in the summer of '76. Snuck out of high school pep rallies to the tune of "We Will Rock You", in the winter of '78. Took my first solo road trip in the fall of '80, with "The Game" securely tucked into the 8 track player my dad mounted under the dash of my first car. Then life happened. Now, my kids are grown, and the grandkids keep on coming, and here I am, getting to experience Queen for the first time (again) with you and others, who are discovering this magic for your first time. I like it. Thank you.
Yep, I can see you as an old man, sitting on the porch clutching a Heineken...wearing a favorite old t-shirt with faded words on it (but "This guy pooped today" can still faintly be made out)..reminiscing about how much your Queen subscribers loved you back in the day.....💙
You say use it for inspiration in 2019 & here I am in the middle of 2020: Covid, lockdown, protests, etc. Did we ever have a more challenging year? But,good things are happening and I believe🙏 we’re going to come out the other side better than ever.✌️Peace✨
Wow- I think I like his voice in the live version better! It’s so deep and rich... He never stops amazing me. 🥰. Not to mention this was near the end of the tour, and his voice was probably weary. And he was battling HIV, whether he knew it or not yet. He’s just incredible.
Yes!!!! I've been waiting for this. This song never fails to pick me up physically and mentally! (it also makes me speed more than I should when I am listening to it in my car lol). The live version is my fav too. FYI Seven Seas of Rhye or Now I'm Here are oldies but goodies!
I was scrolling thru all of your Queen reaction videos, and it looks like you havent checked out "In the Lap of the Gods" yet. Check out the live version at The Odeon 1975. One of my all time favorite songs by them. Makes me so happy to see you loving Queen on this channel!.
Gotta do "Gimme the Prize" Official Video while we're on this Highlander roll. It's the Kurgan's theme. Kickass song for a badass villain. In the middle it features one of those unbelievable things Brian can do..briefly turns it into a highland march with his guitar sounding almost like bagpipes, then back to more badassery! Anyone else notice at 15:25 when Brian walked through the smoke it lingered in his hair (that glorious hair)?
My first album bought was this album the contrast of the music was amazing one vision, it's a kind of magic, who wants to live forever I mean how can you not fall in love with queen my favourite band of all time the deeper you delve the more you love them. For me the most influential band of all time. And to be honest I was still young when Freddie died and I was heart broken. But as I aged my respect for this band hasn't dwindled their music will stand forever.
So this song was released on my birthday and later on Ihad a tape of the live magic tour that was played until it went transparent. Queen live is always special and I remembered when they were on this final tour and played my local stadium. I was too young to go back in heard the whole thing, mid summer, in my front street.
I never used to like this song, because in the UK it was used SO MUCH in the worst TV adverts (maybe a sofa company?). but i appreciate it much more now i'm really into queen
This song always makes me want to watch The Highlander movies. Loved the movies when they came out as a kid. No mortal man can win this day....perfect lyrics
You will love this concert! 🤘💞 I have seen that uncountable times and it feels like being there. All concerts are great Freddie has such a charisma. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I used to work with the uncle and aunt of Spike Edney who would play keyboard whilst Freddie was up and about on the stage doing his thing! They were invited to the VIP room at the infamous after Wembley concert party held at the Selfridges Hotel London and that every member of Queen came and spoke to them. They told me that all of them were very welcoming and some of the nicest people they had met.
"L", kudos for the Double Dose of Queen. Keep it coming. Really like the idea of official and live reactions in one. Don't sweat the vocabulary. Growing up listening to Queen, I needed my dictionary all the time. Queen expanded my English vocabulary and taught me Japanese and Spanish.
I was already a blood fan of Queen in the 93. And in Colombia, Queen was only known by the big anthems but this song was promoting the new 'Magic bra' (padded bra). So when Freddie sang 'it's a kind of magic' it showed the before and after the bra. 😊😊😊 And every time I hear it on TV I would go running to watch the commercial. I ended up buying the damn bra anyways
No one can out shine Queen. I'm in my 50's and they have been the best rock and roll band ever. I also was a big fan of Nazareth. Could you do a reaction video to their song This flight tonight. They were famous for the song "Love Hurts" , awesome song too.
Ashley Nichole that song is so beautiful it makes me cry. The prettiest version is the video and Brian starts out surrounded by candles and then it goes to Freddie. It’s absolutely beautiful❤️
Brian May was and is the best lead guitarist ever he makes that girl sing you just gotta love it what a hell of a team they made. God bless you all you are eternally in my heart forever and thank you so much once again for love of the band over and out till next time peace
I was at the '86 show at Wembley but on the saturday, and it was absolutely massive,as you can see. but the show was magical and everybody left soaked in sweat.
Queen were asked to do a couple of songs for Highlander but Freddie being Freddie said no we will do an albums worth. A Kind of Magic started as A kind of vision which ended up being One Vision. Freddie reworked the song into two songs , Genius..
I love Highlander and Christopher Lambert was so awesome in the movie. There can be only one. The whole thing with the movie was that there could only be one Highlander left so, of course you had your good ones like Adrian and Lambert- Connor MacLeod of the clan MacLeod and then you had evil ones, his name escapes me, but he's so grotesque you can't miss him, he at one time had his head almost, almost lopped off. He was saved by a little, tiny piece of skin that hung on and he sewed his head back on and then put safety pins all the way around his neck, shaved his head in a weird way, he was so grotesque. There were the sword fights and you could not fight on Hallowed Ground so if you were in a church or in a cemetery something like that you pretty much were safe and even the bad guys for the most part honored that, but in the end there can be only 1 and of course most of the good guys would end up getting their heads lopped off by a bad guy Highlander and then it came down to the final two and Adrian Paul became the only one. When you went through this ritual fight and lopped somebody's head off it was this spectacular scene, lightning would go off and bulbs would burst and the person would go up into the air and kind of turn around and the lightning would go through him and he'd be flailing around and it's almost like everything that was in the person he killed, all the souls that he had acquired, all the energy from that person went into him now, or her, and of course at the end they would hit their knees and fall back in utter exhaustion and disbelief. It was stated and hinted around in the movie that Highlanders were infertile they could not bear children. Men couldn't get women pregnant and women couldn't carry a child, but when there was only 1 they gave Adrian Paul the one thing that he had wanted more than anything in his life and that was a child, a son. it really was a good story, I mean the last one was a little weird, but they're just so worth watching.
Now you know their music you will hear it everywhere you go. It’s in business, it’s in Hollywood and Disney, 7 year old kids know this music. They don’t know who made it. But there is no escape :)
I hope you have been able to watch the entire Wembley Stadium concert...you will LOVE Brian Mays LONG guitar solo....just INCREDIBLE!! I agree, there is nothing like their live performances...must be the "amped up" crowd and Freddie, lol!
i advise you again... see the frist 6 straight songs from the wembley concert.. you will love it. very nice reaction . a lot of brian may guitars in wembley first 6 songs.
The Friday concert (shown here) was a trial run for the film crew & director in preparation for the Saturday show (which is the better known show & is one released). This is why there are no so many camera angles and crowd shots as there would be if you were to view any of the Saturday show....there’s an official UA-cam video of A kind of magic which you’d see the difference. The Saturday show was shown simultaneously on TV & Radio in UK pretty late in evening, I was only 12 so my dad was supposed to video it for me.....he fell asleep and woke up just in time for end...We will rock you & we are the champions
As a Roger fan I love this song. Again his vocals and drumming were great , Brians guitar playing surpasses itself in this song, as does Johns bass playing.
With very few exceptions, Queen always sounds better live -- sounds/looks/feels. Wembley '86 was a great show. There's a video -- about 15 minutes -- of the beginning of this concert that you might want to check out to see how they come out hard and totally grab the audience.
I like this thing you're doing of reacting to both the music video and the live version! Deaky's son Cameron says he cracks up everytime he sees his dad with that banjo, LOL!
At the height of Queen's success, I was a teenager. With Bohemian Rhapsody the movie, I'm happily reliving those days. Although, I do have their Greatest Hits 3 cd set which I listen to often.
This is one of the first Queen songs I was aware of hearing outside my family. I remember watching the video with the Magician and the animated backup singers when it came out at my friends house and thinking other people know this music! If you are doing two reactions could you please do the lyric video of 39 sang by Brian and compare it to the live version sang by Freddie? Thank you.
Reading a great book “Queen Unseen” about Freddie, by his top roadie/friend/photographer for 10 years, Peter Hince.... I don’t want it to end! So many great details about backstage wIth Freddie and life off stage. Peter was the roadie who watched Freddie CONSTANTLY during performances, so he could hand him his mike on cue, take it from him on cue, help Freddie w anything he needed on stage... brought him hot lemon tea with honey onstage, which Freddie needed to get thru long sets. You won’t regret buying his book, if you’re a real Queen fan because no where else can you get the detail available in this well written book. Queen Forever!❤️🧡♥️

Couldn't agree more....john really was amazing...and his talent was not overlooked by freddie, i think....😊😊 xx
I had the biggest crush on Deaky when I was in middle school.
The drums, the bass, the guitar and the vocals together in this song...well what can you say - a kind of frekkin *MAGIC!*
OMG! John Deacon on bass! No way you can sit still. So underappreciated.

When asked which rock song give me chills? This one - live - head phones on, volume cranked up!!
Thank you!
Isn't it funny that even the cartoon choir girls faint over Freddie! 😅
That bass is fantastic! Kudos to John Deacon.
I love it! You’re finally starting to appreciate what Brian May and John Deacon bring to the fold. But don’t forget Roger Taylor! They are geniuses four!
Agreed! The energy of the live performance is unbeatable. Awesome ❤️

So simple musically but beautifully complex in emotion.

This concert came on the TV live, I was 5 years old and I instantly fell in love with the group. Long live queen. Love the Chanel.
Instrumentally they all kick ass and Freddie's live performance is once again brilliant!
I love your reaction to Queen. They are absolutely GREAT live.

Totally agree: I play the whole concert and feel energized. As good as any studio recording but live: bravo
Freddie Love ❤

Really enjoyed being there back in the day. Keep going with Queen
Oooh the agony! 😱
AKOM on Saturday was much better
Rover Waters and Budapest better still
I still have the Saturday recording including all the cheesy 80's ads
Now I'm here in Budapest is amazing.
true
As a Roger fan I love this song. Again his vocals and drumming were great , Brians guitar playing surpasses itself in this song, as does Johns bass playing.
He said he was going to be a legend... he meant it. :)
Now immortal 👏👏👏👏
Never cut you off...😉😉😉
With very few exceptions, Queen always sounds better live -- sounds/looks/feels.
I love Queen!! I love Freddie Mercury!!!
Glad I found you!
Had a wonderful night hanging out with you.
I'll keep watching.
Quuen is amazing!
Thank you.
I think you should do this more often with ya Queen stuff up to 1986...... Studio and then the live. Mega respect to ya man
What kind of memory this song brings?!
THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!
Highlander! 😎👍🏼
Queen is the best thing that ever existed
Thanks !!! Amazing live version !!! Great reaction 👍😎
Queen, always live = best!
So happy u like queen they were the bomb
A little fact, in 1963 Brian May and his dad started to build his guitar, it took 2yrs ,but they made The Red Special. Love Queen 👑
