This video has been a huge inspiration to me... Not only did it get me into GYBE!... But it also spurred me to start photographing lost and abandoned places. It's easily one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen
The combination of the video work and the haunting soundtrack of GYBE is a reason why I come back and review this video again and again.. so much beautiful melancholy. This is wonderful, heart wrenching work.
This is still the best video of this place. I went here multiple times in October 2010 when this video was made. We slept in the Opera House and had a fire in the fountain in front of it where we cooked steak. The gators watched us intently every time we were anywhere near the lagoon. I'm surprised they didn't film the warehouse filled with toys. Anyways I feel lucky that I was able to see it before vandals completely ruined it.
Man, there are so many memories in this park. I remember we would go there every weekend during the summer because we had passes. I can even remember the time before it was "six flags" and when it was "jazzland".... I rode my first roller coaster there...... Damn this is depressing.
And 10 years later, still there. It’s amazing too see that even in the condition it was in then was miles better than what it is now. I still believe it can be restored, it should be. It’s what the community wants
imagine the damage to the park was 32 milions dolars...80% of the park is lost, as u can see is lost in time. In this situation the best oporunity is to build something new, everything is damaged bad
If only you could actually be able to fully portray being there on video. The feeling of actually being there is SO powerful. All the noises and the strange movements from everything. The squeaks and clangs from the large bungee towers. It is a truly powerful experience.
Out of all the tours and videos out there nowdays for this theme park, I keep coming back to this one... The music and video shots are the best out of them all.
I love abandoned places, and this is one of the best preserved I've seen, it's so beautiful. Creepy yes, but still very powerful. Really represents the suddenness of what happened there.
When this place was first Jazz Land it was awesome. The area replicating Pontchartrain Beach was a huge attraction. We went again in 2003 after Six Flags purchased it just two years before the storm and once again we had a great time. Its creepy and sad to see it like it is today. Thanks for posting.
Great cinematography!! It's amazing what someone who knows what they are doing behind the camera can evoke with a fitting music track and a bunch of very well done shots. Moving stuff!
Really sad. Music creeped me out. Iv e heard this place is creepy but I've become quite fascinated with it. Great video. Greetings from Toronto Canada2020
It was submerged in 8-10 feet of water for over a month after Hurricane Katrina passed through. They might not look damaged, but most of the rides' internal framework was destroyed by the floodwater. I think only one ride was removed, a Batman themed coaster, and re-located. The park has not been demolished as of yet, but was used for the set of a Percy Jackson film last year. I read that they were able to get several of the rides temporarily operational for the filming.
I actually just got back from going there. It is the most surreal thing to witness in person. I remember when I went as a kid and going there tonight was just so different. We climbed the wooden roller coaster and went inside all the buildings. It was so crazy but an awesome adventure!
I survived Hurricane Katrina.. last April I went to New Orleans for a visit and saw this Six Flags. We would've gone and messed around there but we didn't lol
Amazing video! The cinematography was beautiful, The music helped too, Both combined made it feel abandoned, Sad, Somber. To see what it looks like now compared to before, It's definitely a crazy feeling. But all and all, 10/10 amazing work. -DB
Park still stands today. I recently drove from Phoenix to Jacksonville FL and back and it looks very depressing. The most recent movie filmed there were a few scenes from tthe new Jurassic Park movie.
Probably the creepiest yet beautiful thing I have ever seen. I've had an odd fascination with this abandoned park in particular for a couple of years. Really great video. And for anyone wondering, it has not been demolished...yet at least. It's suppose to turn into shopping outlets but I wouldnt be a bit surprised if those plans fell through like the numerous others. I hope it remains like this for years; twisted yes but there's a certain beauty in urban wastelands... By the way, does anyone kn
This has gotta be the best footage of this place of any other Explorers footage. The music,The Theme of the video & the way it was put together is Excellent.I've gotta share this on Facebook!!!
I would never be able to sneak into an abandoned amusement park because I'd be terrified of zombies showing up and attacking me. Thanks a lot, Zombieland!
This place was for fun and I went to this place when I was a kid. I miss every single bit of it. R.I.P sixflags New Orleans. The people of New Orleans will never forget this wonderful place of enjoyment. :(
It's kind of weird. I was reading Hamlet in class and there's the one famous scene in Hamlet where he's holding the skull of Yorick, the royal Jester. During this scene he talks about the life Yorick once had and what was left of him now. So when the ride "The Jester" comes up in this clip at 5:25 it's kind of weird as it almost brings out the same meaning. That death comes to us all and even the places where we enjoyed life will fade in time. This video is depressing.
I've honestly never really been huge into six flags, but I'm really worried about what might happen to Disneyland. So many priceless pieces of art and mechanical engineering there, such as the original animatronics from America Sings (now on splash mountain) the original Haunted Mansion props and figures, and countless other pieces of Disney's history..
I watched this a few days ago and got really depressed for over 4 hours. I tried listening to christmas music to cheer me up and watching tv, but nothing worked. Now i'm watching it again, feeling like I'm gonna cry.
It's amazing that this stuff is still standing after that hurricane. I guess it shows how much we can really trust the engineers who come up and build this stuff.
I have always been a fan of amusement parks. I help score films with my brother and am looking forward to the day when we can set some music to visuals of deserted parks. Good posting. - Nice quality of light in your film.
I've heard this theme park in America has been shut down due to the hurricane since August 2005. Unfortunately this park never reopened. That was a terrible shame, wasn't it? Anyway this abandoned theme park sure looks kinda spooky and eerie. Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪
I couldn't help but cry during this video.... I spent so many happy moments laughing and having fun as a kid there.... and now, it's a barren wasteland.
I miss this place so much. Katrina took too much from us. It is depressing driving around and seeing the many closed down places that were destroyed by Katrina...
So many childhood memories; lost to one storm. The first time I went was 2. Last time I went I was 8. After Katrina I put a flower down in front of the gate with a note saying "Rest In Peace"
I don't know why but for some reason I imagine hearing kids laughing and screaming (in a happy way), people talking, the six flags theme song, prizes being win....man it feels like an abandoned ghost town there :(
I used to go to this place all the time when it was open. I have a lot of great memories of this park. This park originally opened as "Jazzland" in 2000 and was bought by Six Flags in 2003. Last I heard, half of the park is going to demolished and made in to an outlet mall and the other half (Including the big wooden coaster called "Megazeph" that you see in the video) will be refurbished and the area will become an entertainment district.
This would have worked really well with Dead Flag Blues from the same album too, if not for the name of the song, for the apocalyptic dialogue. Awesome video. Edit: I just tried watching this with Dead Flag Blues in the background and it syncs up perfectly. The last few cuts with the credits and fade to black happened right when the first movement of the song ends and the narrator closes it out with "we woke up up one morning, and fell a little further down. for sure it's the valley of death. I open up my wallet, and it's full of blood."
Wow, what a video! I love it! :D It seems that the ghosts have taken over that place. At least did the scene with mirrors and stairs at around 4:18 make me think of ghosts. I could quite well imagine how they hold their shows on that scene. Very good choice of music aswell!
I keep watching this more than I should. It isn't creepy to me, its sad, but I find it fascinating. Like Missa Everdeen, I would like to visit this place.
It is really sad looking and it catches my interest. I would like to go visit this place. I couldn't believe the hurricane created such damage. What is the plan for the park? are they going to demolish it? I do not believe there is that possibility that they will re open again right?
A few of the rides were taken apart, refurbished, and sent to other Six Flag parks. The park is still there and is often used as a filming location. Wikipedia says that it is possibly leased through 2014.
they said the park will be domolished in 2011 passed already and i dont want them to destroy it tht will be the only six flags for new orleans no more them parks left and it look so sad i ate to see it domolished even more
Man this is so freekin sad. I remember when this was just jazzland before six flags came along. All of my childhood memories of going to my first theme park and having fun with the family ruined man. It was such an amazing amusement park.
This video has been a huge inspiration to me... Not only did it get me into GYBE!... But it also spurred me to start photographing lost and abandoned places. It's easily one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen
This was the video that got me into godspeed too.
I remember seeing this video as a child 10 years ago and i am now a photographer for abandoned buildings around Louisiana!
It's not beautiful when you have to drive passed the mess 19 years later. I wish someone would do something about the land. It's disgusting 😢
The combination of the video work and the haunting soundtrack of GYBE is a reason why I come back and review this video again and again.. so much beautiful melancholy. This is wonderful, heart wrenching work.
East Hastings is the perfect music choice for this video. It brilliantly correlates with the eerie imagery and the uneasy mien displayed here.
I feel bad for the kids whose parentes said "we'll go there when it reopens" and then it never did
JontusMaximus yep........unfortunately.
JontusMaximus true
Good thing I wasn't alive to witness the hurricane
Lietary was born a month later
How about the poor post men who got wet feet and then smelly feet?
This is still the best video of this place. I went here multiple times in October 2010 when this video was made. I was 5 in 2005 when my mom bought season tickets for jazzland/six flags...3 months before the storm hit...
i was about not alive/zero
Brayden I got to go to both Jazz land and Six flags
I was only a year old and 4 months when it closed.
Man, there are so many memories in this park. I remember we would go there every weekend during the summer because we had passes. I can even remember the time before it was "six flags" and when it was "jazzland".... I rode my first roller coaster there...... Damn this is depressing.
rollinstormz well it lasted for 5 years so that was a first
my favorite thing about this video is how modern the park is. It's freaky to see something from so recent in such a state of disrepair.
Seen this video when it first got put on UA-cam. 11 years later it's still haunting to me. From the cinematography to the creepy background music 😮😮😮
And 10 years later, still there. It’s amazing too see that even in the condition it was in then was miles better than what it is now. I still believe it can be restored, it should be. It’s what the community wants
that would be quite beautiful
imagine the damage to the park was 32 milions dolars...80% of the park is lost, as u can see is lost in time. In this situation the best oporunity is to build something new, everything is damaged bad

I love these abandoned Places, they all are silent since years, yet they tell an amazing story.
I really like the song you picked for this. It kind of goes with the sense of abandonment.
Out of all the tours and videos out there nowdays for this theme park, I keep coming back to this one... The music and video shots are the best out of them all.
I didn't know a six flags park got abandoned from a hurricane! So sad! :'(
This is haunting, truly haunting. It's such a tragic thing to happen to a place that's supposed to be filled with happy memories.
There are other videos of this park out there, but this is the best one by far! The music is haunting, and the photography/editing is superb!
I love abandoned places, and this is one of the best preserved I've seen, it's so beautiful. Creepy yes, but still very powerful. Really represents the suddenness of what happened there.

This is beautifully tranquil man. Nice usage of "East Hastings" by Godspeed You!Black Emperor.
That felt like a six and a half minute Breaking Bad intro.
“Yo Mr. White, we’re at Six Flags”
This reminds me a lot of the Dark Carnival campaign from L4D2.
Really sad. Music creeped me out. Iv e heard this place is creepy but I've become quite fascinated with it. Great video. Greetings from Toronto Canada2020
I was half expecting Ellie to come out with a bow and arrow
Or Joel with a Rifle.
GassedGasMask7 who is Ellie?
The Lorax its a video game about the apocalypse, it’s called the last of us
@@MRKrabsNonsense or Abby with a golf club lol
im gonna miss this park
The music sounds like The Last Of Us backround music.
Seth Marose yes it do
+Seth Marose It was used in the movie 28 Days Later.
wesleyjc80 That explains it.
+wesleyjc80 Aint half a bad film
if you're wondering, the song is east hastings by godspeed you! black emperor

+Eva Maria Diaz ?? The hurricane was in August 2005..
This video actually really got me into GY!BE... So.. Thank you for shaping my music taste xD
What’s GY!be?
Amazing video! The cinematography was beautiful, The music helped too, Both combined made it feel abandoned, Sad, Somber. To see what it looks like now compared to before, It's definitely a crazy feeling. But all and all, 10/10 amazing work. -DB
This was the first video I watched on the park before you had Adam the Woo and Proper People do a video so kudos. The music can't be beat btw.
The music from 28 Days Later is utilized perfectly in this video.
who's watching this in 2016??
I am
Same
me lol
Me

Park still stands today. I recently drove from Phoenix to Jacksonville FL and back and it looks very depressing.
The most recent movie filmed there were a few scenes from tthe new Jurassic Park movie.
I have a strange addiction to these kind of places. Places that have just been left, I would love to look around here so much!
Probably the creepiest yet beautiful thing I have ever seen. I've had an odd fascination with this abandoned park in particular for a couple of years. Really great video. I just started listening to GY!BE recently and was listening to f#a# infinity and once east hastings came on, I instantly remembered this video.
This video helped me discover GYBE! Almost 6 years ago
it makes me mad that still in 2015 its fate is still unknown;(
This has gotta be the best footage of this place of any other Explorers footage. The music,The Theme of the video & the way it was put together is Excellent.I've gotta share this on Facebook!!!
I would never be able to sneak into an abandoned amusement park because I'd be terrified of zombies showing up and attacking me. Thanks a lot, Zombieland!
This is the most creepiest music I have ever heard
Godspeed You! Black Emperor is amazing. You should check them out :)
You thought this was creepy, Pssh. Watch 28 days Later it has the same song and has an even creepier vibe
Seriously looks like an opening sequence for The Walking Dead.
george bush didnt care about six flags
***** actually he didn't care about nothing.
What the hell does he have to do with this. This in New Orleans crooked government . Blame your people in charge in your state.
What the hell does he have to do with this. This in New Orleans crooked government . Blame your people in charge.
that person is mocking Kanye West who said during Katrina "George w. bush does not care about black people"@@lauriesmith5008
This place was for fun and I went to this place when I was a kid. I miss every single bit of it. R.I.P sixflags New Orleans. The people of New Orleans will never forget this wonderful place of enjoyment. :(
The reading of the sign in the beginning really shows the last thing they said "closed for the storm". That is a cool shot!
WOOOOOOW. I didn't know there was a six flags in N.O
MsDNA100 too late
I miss this place so much :(
god bless u all over there this is just sad
The park is still there, I'm from Louisiana.

absolutely brilliant cinematography. if it wasnt so illegal to venture there i would love to explore the place
this video makes me sad. :(
Yeah is sad
It's Called Six Flags Zombieland
This is what the future great California earthquake is going to do the Six Flags Magic Mountain park.
And possibly Disneyland, sadly..
Hell, Six Flags Magic Mountain might end up worse than this.
Disney probably has some backup plan for this. Its not like they lack the money or the resources for it.
Yeah, they'll probably do something when it's determined when the quake will happen.
brilliantly done. probably my favorite video on UA-cam BAR NONE
Everytime I come to see this video it got me chills! Awesome work!
I watched this a few days ago and got really depressed for over 4 hours. I tried listening to christmas music to cheer me up and watching tv, but nothing worked. Now i'm watching it again, feeling like I'm gonna cry.
This is a work of art in its deepest form, video and pictures and movies with no words say more than those that do.
I love this video there's many out there on this but this is the best one
It's amazing that this stuff is still standing after that hurricane. I guess it shows how much we can really trust the engineers who come up and build this stuff.
Beautifully done- how tragic a time for New Orleans..and the memories linger always.

Reminds me of 28 Days later, probabally the music and the slow panning of the camera. This is some really great stuff, thank you.
I couldn't help but cry during this video.... I spent so many happy moments laughing and having fun as a kid there.... and now, it's a barren wasteland.
This video is so hauntingly beautiful. I love it.

Beautiful camera work! I love abandoned places soooo much, especially amusement parks.
This was so well made. I'd love to visit before demolition.
They should never demolish this. This is a nice place to shoot a movie at.
Great Job!!! Everything is perfect!! The shots, the music, the sense!!!
This got me pumped for fallout 4! Seeing those computers look like the post war terminals. Great video.
Abandoned theme parks creep me out soooo much... But I'm obsessed with looking at pictures of them to see how creepy they look.........
I don't know why but for some reason I imagine hearing kids laughing and screaming (in a happy way), people talking, the six flags theme song, prizes being win....man it feels like an abandoned ghost town there :(

The song you used totally makes this so much creepier. I'd love to go explore this place. AMAZING yet sad :/
Hands down, the best video on youtube.
Fascinating. The soundtrack piece is particularly apt.
Tim, you should have gotten shots of the flipped bumper cars and the weedy, overgrown train ride! Those were two of the most eerie sights there!
lol i cried when i watched this when i was like 7 back when this came out, gave me creepy vibes so i started tearing up bc of how empty it was
This would have worked really well with Dead Flag Blues from the same album too, if not for the name of the song, for the apocalyptic dialogue. Awesome video.

A lost memory in time, is 2024 and nothing happend to the park, still there, still painful.
Six flags: LETS MAKE A HORROR MOVIE!
Employee: YEAH!
Hurricane Katrina: IM READY!!
Employee again: WHAT-
This gives me the chills. It looks like something straight out of a zombie movie.
I just love discovering places like these i mean its the eerie feeling you get and the thought of what life was like when things were running.
Anyone else watching in 2018? I remember this video creeped me out so much when I was little. It’s so sad to see the park like this.
Amazing photography, captured very well.
I love the shot at 4:08. It feels like you’re looking into a prison cell that’s taken over by darkness.
It is really sad looking and it catches my interest. I would like to go visit this place. I couldn't believe the hurricane created such damage. What is the plan for the park? are they going to demolish it? I do not believe there is that possibility that they will re open again right?
I never knew they had security patrolling the park. But thanks for the information!
thank you *****. i really did not know that there are security patrolling the area and it is a place i really want to go and visit.
certainly. will have to watch out for the security. thanks again
A few of the rides were taken apart, refurbished, and sent to other Six Flag parks. The park is still there and is often used as a filming location. Wikipedia says that it is possibly leased through 2014.
they said the park will be domolished in 2011 passed already and i dont want them to destroy it tht will be the only six flags for new orleans no more them parks left and it look so sad i ate to see it domolished even more
great job making this video. I think this place is in amazingly good shape considering. If it had been in detroit, it would have been gutted already
Cool video- excellent soundtrack. I keep expecting a hoard of zombies to emerge from the shadows lol
Man this is so freekin sad. I remember when this was just jazzland before six flags came along. All of my childhood memories of going to my first theme park and having fun with the family ruined man. It was such an amazing amusement park.
