I think the Kings' Cup runs are good for the league, because any team in the playoffs from here on out can look at what the Kings did and believe they can do the same. They won as the bottom seed, knocking off the top three. They won three Game 7s without home ice advantage. They overcame an 0-3 series deficit. What else is there for them to prove? If we don't win any more, maybe they won't call us a dynasty, but I think people will talk about this team for a long time.
Agree. All SC winners are remembered in their fans hearts as special because there is always some story behind that success. But this team, no matter how much hated by the rest of the league's fans, wrote not just one, but two absolutely incredible, unprobable SC stories ever written to the hockey book history. It is hard to say which of those runs was more incredible. The second run would have never happened if it wasn't for the first one so they each stand on their own as something so rare not just in hockey but in sports in general. I know Kings organization wants to get back to those heights again. But even if they do, it will be next to impossible to write a story like that the 3rd time. This was one of a kind team, so tough, so tight, so we'll balanced in all departments.... it let us to live two but three spectacular life shorteners in a row....If Kings never win again as long as I live, this was all worth it
Oh man, talk about pushing everyone's hearts to their limits, especially Game 7. I decided to go see that game at L.A. Live after spending the day at the Long Beach Comic Expo, figuring that I would share either heartbreaks, or exhilaration with other Kings fans. While I didn't manage to get into the Downtown Hooters, I did find a spot at Tom's Urban Grill to watch the game. 4 hours, 1 big meal, and 10 rounds of Coke later, I saw A-Mart's GW/SW shot go in, and that whole place just went flat out crazy! That series will be something I'll remember for the rest of my life.
Blackhawks fan here. God this was such a good series, both teams were equally matched and would have only ended with whoever made a tiny mistake first. I wouldn't have been as mad if it was clean straight shot on net, rather than a lucky bounce off one of our guys. I'm really hoping to see you guys again in the conference finals. This WAS the Stanley Cup final.
Watching this series with my Grandfather was something special. He was all Chicago while I was all LA. Dean Lombardi hit it right on the nose. 1 through 20, both teams were matched You got Doughty, they got Keith You got Kopitar, they got Towes You got Gaborik, they got Kane You got Quick, they got Crawford It goes on and on all the way down. I'll treasure this series forever
In from Germany and i watched the game at 4:30 in the Morning and in the overtime I was so nervous I almost died!! That was the best game I've ever seen in my entire life!!! GO KINGS GO and for today beatthehabs
🤩🤩🤩🤩Martinez's shot went off Nick Leddy's shoulder and bounced pass Corey Crawford. Leddy should have gotten an assist for that OT game winning goal in game 7 at Chicago. Go Kings Go!
What one is better 2012 run or 2014 run! Both nhl history first 8th seed to wim it all. Plus 10-1 on the road. 0-3 series and first team to win all 3 games on the road
Ill never forget that moment marty scored in ot in game 7 what a moment n no team will break the records or make records like we did in a stanley cup run n then win the cup 3 game 7s in is un heard of n to win them all is insane n remarkable just to great to put in words
The Kings kept Chicago from being a modern day dynasty in the NHL. That, and the fact that the Kings beat them in Game 7 on their home ice, is my greatest Kings memory of my 50+ years of watching Kings hockey. GKG. Greatest series I've ever seen. It beats out Bruins/Canadians series with Orr and Dryden. Just by a pinch.
That was the night Marty officially became my hero. I'm disabled but you should've seen me jump out of my chair! Ran about the house screaming for a couple of minutes! I was really hurting later but it was totally worth it. Actually cheered more for that than when they beat NY lol. #GKG #BecauseItsTheCup
Sad how both clubs are now struggling. It took a lot of trades of future prospects to get the cups. Now both are rebuilding. The big contracts of toews and kane/ kopi and brown are hurting both clubs. They earned it though
Im a Hawks fan. Here's to hoping we renew our rivalry next Spring. hopefully the salary cap doesnt hurt my Hawks too much so that they can really compete again.
I watched as I sweated knowing the black hawks are sooo good! They don’t take crap from other teams and they are good! As I watched I went outside and sat in my hot tube and just listened! Suddenly I hear my dad yell “Kings Score“ I was in absolute shock and happiness
Despite winning the Cup this year, I still think back to this game 7 and cant help but wonder how the Hawks were one bounce away from having three Cups in a row now and having 4 in the last 6 years.
Oh man, this video made me nervous and I don't know why. I know who won. LOL The equipment guys' reaction was great. It's a shame that Handzus wins that game for them and then doesn't get resigned.
I had just gotten home from califur. (a furry convention, yes. i'm into that). and I turned on the game as I was unpacking all of my stuff and uploading my photos. I was watching the game online and had the volume down because I was just so nervous. when I saw the score, I couldn't believe it. I ran into my mom's room, and turned it on. she couldn't believe it either. she was in tears. we both couldn't believe we were going back to staples center.
nsschmid yeah, but they do this every season, around this time too. They get in their slump, but they always get out if it. And hey, 5-3 against the Sens? Not too shabby.
AnaheimDucks93 Not a big deal bud. Not nearly as embarrassing as blowing another game 7 at home after having the lead. At least we have two cups to show for our 3 years of playoff hockey. If anything, you should be the one who shouldn't be trying to talk shit.
+Ricardo Solís The queens have been around for what 49 years and have 2 cups. The ducks have been around 21 years and have 1 cup. Before the ducks hit there 49th season they will have more then 2 cups.It only took the ducks 14 years to win there first cup and the queens it took them 46 years hahaha.
We ARE the true cardiac team of history no 1 can take that from us EVER! THE CARDIAC KINGS, I certainly aged a bit. 3 GAME 7s on the road WILL NEVER BE DONE AGAIN not in this league!

Amen
Agreed.
They still talk about them to this day.

Mann seems like yesterday.
Best playoff series in my hockey lifetime (1988 to present). So many swings and then one of the best Gm 7's in any sport ever.
that series was some of the best hockey i've ever seen.
I personally think either the 2009 final between pittsburgh and detroit and 1999 Conference Finals between st louis and detroit are the best
This series probably knocked a few years off my lifespan... Years well SPENT!!

Playoff hockey is epic, albeit hazardous to your health... XD

+Arborpress This was the Stanley Cup Final of 2014. Agreed! (Kings fan here in Lincoln Park -- luv the city of Chicago!)
Kings fan here, this series alone made me cheer for Chicago whenever LA aren’t playing post season hockey. This was certainly THE Stanley Cup final!
I will never ever forget this
I still get nervous watching this. Game 7 probably took 10 years off my life.
I watched the whole thing but missed the OT winner cause I was to nervous to watch lol and sat outside just waiting and heard my dad yell KINGS SCORE!
Oh for sure!!!
This was the Stanley Cup this playoffs. Oh man how exciting this whole playoffs was. GKG!
this was the best series
Such an amazing series beginning to end. Loved every second of it!
Yup, me too; that nervous feeling came back just from watching this video! That game 7 was exhausting.
21 games
I miss this.

2012 Stanley Cup Moments? It was 2014.

Game 6 was the best game I ever saw but game 7 was the biggest win in Kings history because it knocked out the champ. Epic.
Just an amazing series...

Not that it matters 4 years later but you might want to adjust it to be 2014 Stanley Cup Moments instead of 2012.
(8:47) DOUGHTY EPIC LIKE KID CELEBRATION…Almost fell from the bench going to celebrate. funny
Im a Hawks fan. Here's to hoping we renew our rivalry next Spring. hopefully the salary cap doesnt hurt my Hawks too much so that they can really compete again.

Ha, I was nervous watching this too! Especially at the end there. I know Marty gets that shot but the suspense was killing me. :)
LOL I was nervous too but what about Dave Bolland who scored the eventual cup winner in 2013 and got traded in the offseason?
+MJDHX He made a godly shot, but in regular season he didn't score jack shit.
Im a kings fan but seriously this was the final. new york was nothin
+TheGamerWorld MC Indeed! In my mind, this was the Stanley Cup Final of 2014. What a great series. Go KINGS Go!
Greatest playoff series I have ever seen in my 50 years of life. Nothing has compared to me.
After that win against the blackhawks there was no way you can beat LA
New York was tough. The best most exciting game ever.
why is this labeled as 2012?
To answer Bob Miller's question, Michael Handzus is the only former King ever to score an OT winner against the Kings in the playoffs.
good job tim
Amart will be the answer on Jeopardy's question of " In NHL The only player to have scored the winning goals during Conference and Stanley Cup.

Who cares if you're a furry? As long as you're a Kings fan, we're family, brother!
With all Kings fans screaming: "We want the Cup!" Kane scores the winning goal in game 6.. You could hear the silence in that crowd.
THIS IS NOT 2012 ... IT'S 2014
You sure this was 2012 LA??? Lol
Thank God!
Five "Thumbs Down?" What?! Wait. Maybe one Hawks fan... maybe. The rest, if not all 5, Ducks fans.
Guys! Go easy on AD93 , he's been a Dicks fan since 2007 and hasn't been to another game till this year cuz he got a free ticket
Lmfaooo
this is 2014
Shot, rebound, score! Tip in front, rebound, score! Dear Dec/Jan LA Kings, please take note. PLEASE!
=P but if they break their pattern, they may not do well in the playoffs.
STEIN667 HAHA! Wouldn't want that to happen. But I still want them to get the points to make the playoffs. Chip and a chair.
nsschmid yeah, but they do this every season, around this time too. They get in their slump, but they always get out if it. And hey, 5-3 against the Sens? Not too shabby.
Chills
2012? 2014
Serves them right
They got Kane we got Gaborik 😂😂😂 nice try but Kanes better
On the last play it was an obvious slash by Williams on leddy but no call
STFU
Glad the queens didn't make the playoffs this year.
And how did that work out for u? Once again, u quack fans get eliminated in game 7 hahaha
javier Flores And once again a kings fan is gonna talk shit even though your team didn't make the playoffs hahaha.
Did your queens make the playoffs this year nope they did not so you shouldn't say shit.
