Fabulous. I'm about to start my MSc in Digital Marketing from a UK university. I have not studied in over 25 years due to raising my child. Your points of critical assessment are very helpful. Thank you so much!
1. preview the text: prefatory material, layout, author 2. annotate: use your margins as memory triggers, symbol systems, ask questions to yourself 3. outline (discover skeleton=> the texts’ content formed in one sentence), summarize (sentence/paragraph form), analyze (evaluative, reflect on the arguments made) 4. look for patterns (choice of words)/ repetitions (repeated phrases, illustrations, examples) => tone of the text 5. contextualize (review in multiple perspectives, how it is framed by historical, cultural, material, intellectual circumstances?, own experience) 6. compare and contrast (main themes of texts, consider gaps in the research, make connections
I have no clue why this is in my feed. I feel like this is a how to skim or how to write notes like youre gonna give a one bulleted note card presentation
My job was able to buy me an iPad recently and my reading ability sky rocketed from being able to annotate and organize notes naturally (I use Notability). I basically do all these steps now and it's truly wild how much more you remember and understand.
I was surprised when she started writing on thin air :D It's a cool feature but if she is facing us, that means she had to write the words in vertical symmetry. Interesting.

You're English teachers are trying to help you develop these skills, so you will be ready for the rigorous reading in college...great video!

Getting ready to write up my first PGCE assignment which is meant to be a critical review on the concept of professionalism within teaching. @@fadwafitriani9642 Thanks for asking. In this video sister, Amina told about various methods of effective learning. You have to start your Quran memorization with MISRI QURAN Because these techniques can be easily applied to it. Example.-> Preview the text, as we all know it's easy to memorize but difficult to always keep in our head, for strong hifz, we have to revise(Preview the text on the daily basis). ->Analyse and look for patterns and repetitions. Repetition is the mother of learning, looking at patterns of different ayat and memorization then helps you to not be confused, in recalling them in the correct sequence.. While repeating, again and again, makes the page permanent in your memory. Similarly, there are many points you can learn from this video, most important is to take the start. because there are many points that, I cannot explain in words, but in order to learn them, you have to feel by yourself. For that, you have to start your Quran memorization journey All the very best jazakallah :)
I LOVE that this is less than 10 minutes long. I have anxiety & trouble with focusing when it comes to academic businesses so this is very nice! Also, your explanation is so clear and this is such a smart technique!
I like how you separate and explain each part of a step. I use a similar sort of guide when I'm reading but I find that highlighting isn't really helping me unless I have brief notes in the margin. Will use this style to optimise my reading :)
I love the idea of using this strategy for reading books in order to really dig in. I love writing in the margins on print books, even though it always feels wrong for some reason. :)
