Usually Mingi's FIX ON tattoo is on that cheekbone. But here it was scratched off. My interpretation is that it signifies that the Mingi in the house is the Mingi that was on hiatus because of his anxiety, literally trapped with his demons and incapable of going back to Yunho and Ateez and being what everyone expected him to be.
That Mingi caved under all the pressure and scratched his tattoo off. Your youth should be the best time of your life, that's what adults always tell you. But for Mingi (and many idols, Ateez members like Jongho and Hongjoong included) it was not. To him, youth became synonymous with pressure, anxiety, drinking, isolation, loneliness
(the panic when Mingi lost Yunho - the focal point of his late childhood - while they were running; the 7 mirrors + Mingi = 8 makes one team? ... except Mingi can only see his own reflection, and Yunho's briefly, with his back turned on him, as if he's abandoning him)
It took hard work and a lot of support to smash those walls (mirrors) down, and come outside into the light. And the ruins (shards) are still dangerous and threatening. You just cannot get rid of anxiety in a few months, you're probably always going to struggle with it. But you're not alone, there are people on the other side that love you and are ready to help you.
The Mingi outside the house doesn't have the tattoo either... but not because he scratched it off. He just doesn't need it. Mingi is doing better now, and has realized that FIX ON is not ALL that he is. He can be his softer self freely around the people he loves. Now the FIX ON only comes out on stage, whenever HE wants it to, and not because of what people want from him.
And that's why in Tunnel, FIX ON is switched to FIX OFF. When Mingi says FIX ON, he demands your attention. But with these new projects of his, he's telling you to just take a deep breath and enjoy the music, and find in it whatever it is that you need.
Now that Mingi is in a better place, he and Yunho can burn down all those ugly memories. For as long as Yunho is guarding him, Mingi will never be trapped in that house again.
Mingi wrote this song while on hiatus, and said he would only sing it with Yunho. He was heavily involved in directing the MV, and I believe he also produced the song himself. And the fact that he gave Yunho center stage to let his vocals and dancing shine, in such an important song for him, is so telling.
Yunho says: "Like the pouring light, I just want to shine; While looking up at the starry night, I want to lean on you; Smile brightly when you look my way"
And Yunho IS the light of Mingi's life.
But by the way Yunho looks at him, you can tell that Mingi is the light of HIS life, as well.
To me, this is what sets Ateez apart from other groups. It really seems like fate intervened to have all of them meet and find comfort in each other.
