I was at a local range one day struggling to zero my AR10. A man I’ve never met walked up to me and asked if he could look at my weapon. He then looked at my ammo. He said, I’ve been watching you, and I think I can help. Turns out he was a military sniper. His words of encouragement and advice was so awesome. He didn’t have to help me, but he did. I will always appreciate his kindness, and help.

I hear ya. Used to be that everyone should have known how to shoot... for example longbow days in UK...... was law that every able bodied man has to be proficient in archery, 15-60yrs old, and have their own bows, arrows, etc. and practice for a minimum amount of hours per week, at least after church on Sundays, For militia and service. Of course that went up to when guns were introduced and after..... now we have so many idiots promoting the disarmament of the populace, they don't hunt, they don't shoot, they get everything from the store, and depend on other agencies for protection that comes too late. Everyone shoot be able to shoot something. I don't have guns, was always too expensive for me, but have a few bows, and you can make your own ammo for that.... and told and taught the kids that everyone should at LEAST know how to shoot a bow, and learn a gun when you can. I have shot guns before.... not bad at em, learned on old pellet gun as a kid... and shot rifles as well with ex military buddy, handguns too..... perhaps I am foolish in figuring that if absolute worst.... a well placed arrow will get me that straggler's firearm.... I know, is a rather innocent idea.... but.... use what ya got, whether sling slingshot, bow, atlatls.... whatever you got. Nonody oughtta preach that dumb idea that people training are doing some kinda appropriation of military identity or some such ...

Have your shit. Understand how to operate it effectively. "Training" is absolute cringe. It really shows how entrenched your mind is into "the system". when the time comes, i guarantee the vast majority of people who "train" will be fighting on the wrong side of history. Spiritual and Moral fitness is what we should spend our time focusing on. Building relationships of trust, and eliminating relationships of dishonesty. We all have good and bad in our lives. Its time to take stock of that, eliminate the bad, uplift the good. The fight will be the easy part. Its every day after that, that will be hard.

As a combat vet 11b 2008 oif. There's nothing that irritates me more than other vets that think they're John wick and can judge others especially our fellow countrymen an women we swore to protect. I WISH every civilian trained then I'd feel safe when I go camping knowing "it's cool my neighbors have my back" it took me 5 years to CULTIVATE the simplest of safety systems with my neighbors only sped up because a fellow vet moved in next door lol. The rule I go by is, "heres what I know. Let me share with you," NOT "I know and you don't" now I have neighbors that talk on group texts to let us all know if something fishy is going down or if a recognized thief is around most my neighbors aren't even armed, they're dialers but the point is that they work with me an my neighbor on a system to keep us all safe but only possible because the two qualified guys on the block shared what we know about safety security an preparedness and we're working on helping our neighbors (who are inclined) to pick out a good firearm that best suits them an helping them train. I got another neighbor that goes camping with me an the jarhead so we can teach him to run drills in his house like how to clear rooms properly and safely how to breach a door (just 2 examples) wich has inspired other neighbors to get they're first pew pew (stupid algorithm rejects my comment if I use the G word but firearm is apparently fine) and buy cameras and I sleep good now lol. All because I didn't hoard vital information like some weird gollum sorry I'm ranting but it's something that needs to be said and I'm glad this guy agrees. Basically if you're a great survivalist, don't you think you'll be better off with 15 more people like minded or do you really think you're John wick? If the latter I pity you because nobody is.

Sir, we were using 1911s and M-14s. And I went to every school the USN has to qualify for inter-service competitive shooting.

I'll bet whatever "82ns AB" insignia he was sporting was stolen valor and or, he NEVER made it through ABN school or basic. Now he sits at Gun-show tables and projects on older vets of other branches, that he knows nothing about. Remember: those that provoke and attack with specific facts and intensity, most likely are doing so to throw off the their target from the truth, which is the lie they are hiding... i.e. He was NOT 82nd. Oh I bet he could tell you everything there is about the 82nd, 9mm's and the .556, but he forgot to study the surrounding history of other branches of service, their forced budget hand me downs or equally commendable service records and invaluable contributions. These blowhards are the loudest and choose their targets with precision. I bet if he was confronted with an 82nd ABN vet, he would take off whatever insignia he was displaying, or even leave the table until the coast was clear. Oh, but when an older USN sailor walks up, it's game on! What a douche bag! I run into guys like this all the time at guns stores or at the range. Utter imposters. PS: I love my 911 and M1A.

I'm a vet, a rusty vet. I'm at the range playing with a new .380 and have a feed issue on 2nd round. Couldn't rack the slide and mag didn't want to eject. I notice the young range instructor watching with a slight smile on his mug. I was determined NOT to ask him for help and finally got the mag to drop and wiggled the stuck round loose...then it hit me where I screwed up. I forgot to love tap the mag before lock n load and if I had been holding an m16 it would have been auto pilot but with that little pew pew it didn't even enter my mind. So I go to turn in the rented hearing protection and I find out that young fella was an Army Ranger newly home from Afghanistan. He gave me another 30min back on the lane so I could clean the cobwebs out.
Point is if folks want to kit up in a flak jacket or this level 4 stuff and run around on an outdoor range acting like John Wick, who gives a shit!! They like wearin a boonie hat or kevlar, fine!! We all know who the pretenders are and if the SHTF they will be weeded out quick, fast and in a hurry. Because I’ve been in healthcare for over 30 years, my prints are worn from washing and sanitizer-I had to fingerprint twice. While I was waiting to redo my prints-I heard a conversation between 2 officers. The uniformed guy asked his street clothed buddy why he was there on his day off. Street replies that the ccw requests have skyrocketed in California over the new year-over double in my county. It made me smile…we are prepared and awake in my NorCal county.

TY for saying this- however I have a different experience. Being the son of a USMC instructor I had my neck broken when hit by a distracted driver before I could serve. While I'm grateful every day to not be paralyzed, nobody wants a guy w/28 pieces of metal and 5 cadaver bones rebuilding his neck and back. After having 3 friends killed in home invasions(all by knives) and thwarting an attempt by 8-10 punks on my own home (police suggested they were armed but not caught); I became an NRA & USCCA Instructor to teach Home Defense and CCW. I've trained with some great Vets of all branches and skillsets, and I've never been given grief by any vet. In fact just the opposite, I've had many thank me for MY service to helping keep people safe. It's unfortunate, but I know this to be true as I've had students use force to defend themselves- we don't want that to happen but we want them ready.

This is actually the first I've seen that some vets are upset civilians train or have certain gear. However, I have seen many instances where vets just get the stolen valor thing all wrong. It's only stolen valor if someone is willingly and knowingly impersonating active/retired military to gain an advantage they wouldn't have as a civilian. Like a discount, a better interest rate on a loan, notoriety, whatever. It comes down to straight up lying. There is no stolen valor with honesty.

  • @GhostRanger5060
    @GhostRanger5060 4 місяці тому +2

This has been a problem in the Vet community for a long time. Vet tough guys who think they are supposed to sort out all the "real vets" in the world by accusing civilians who wear camo or a military t-shirt of stolen valor. I always wore camo before I joined the Army... and my dad's old Army fatigues and jackets. After I joined, I let my sons wear my stuff. I served on active duty and went to elite schools but some of my best experiences in uniform were with the citizen soldiers of my state's SDF force, many of whom never served a day of active duty but took the training seriously and bought their own gear to train with. I applaud civilian militias, survivalists, and paintballers for their military skills, look and bearing. Stolen valor is when a civilian or veteran pretends to be something they are not. But being a militant, prepared citizen is every man's duty. Thanks for posting this. #RLTW #maranatha

I have a few 2A shirts that have the right sleeve reversed flag. Someone said something to me one day about that being a 'military designation' so I looked it up. It's not strictly military although it seems to have originated there. It just means always forward, as in push to your goal. Some people are just too sensitive. At least one shirt company has stopped using the right sleeve flag. I suspect because they were getting similar flak from idiots but I can't find anything about why so just speculation on my part.

I'm 48 years old now , and have had numerous encounters with people, allot of vets , some not . But I'll go out shopping or out to eat , and some people will come up to me, thanking me for my service. And I refuse to just go along with it , and tell them I didn't serve. And alloy of people act like I'm stealing Valor or something. They shake my hand thanking me for my service and after I tell them my situation, they seem offended. Makes no sense. I'm not wearing fatigues or anything so wtf ? Anyway , I'm hooked up to an IV pump right now dealing with a bone infection in my hip. After I get cut loose from my line , I'm looking forward to taking a defensive rifle course and performing the best I can. Yeah, of course they were idealized and romanticized, but all the same, we were taught about brave warriors and hunters. In tune with the world abound them and highly capable. I don't know if that has changed much, but it has very much bothered me that so many people seem to want to erase native Americans from everything to the point of making them disappear from that national consciousness. Our ancestors did them wrong, and now we must forget they exist and never talk about them lest we offend? What is more offensive than erasing them from the national fabric? We have a shared history. It may not be pretty, but it is shared nevertheless. Every group has it's dark side, but why would we not learn from and celebrate the worthy and admirable parts? When I see the names and symbols that evoke the native Americans, I think of positive associations and a respect for that past. Hell, I have a bit of Blackfoot in me as well, though so little that it doesn't count for much.

When I said that... she couldn't get her kid away from me fast enough. I came out of retirement for two weeks to get some of our people out of Afghanistan. I've blocked for Tier 1 guys, was honored when they suggested we took some and they blocked for my team. Worked with MARSOC guys. Not saying that for D-length but comparison, because I've also teamed with airsoft guys, weekend warriors, and paintball/airsoft with my 7 year old daughter and her friends; somehow, they always get me :) I've no problem with civilians exercising their rights, gearing up, weekend warriors.
I believe it's our job to encourage them, train them for the purposes of safety and efficiency. As a matter of fact, I didn't even know this was an issue. I understand the tribes. I lead my tribes. You can get a chuckle out of some 320 pound dude wearing camo, until you see one I know tack-drive 800 meter shots for 2 hours in arctic conditions.
But now that you do mention this, it might have happened to me. Couple of young Marines we're giving me and my girls stink face and grumbling at a gas station because we were kitted out. We'd been deer hunting. Wasn't sure why at the time. Didn't know them. Hadn't created any problems. Wonder if that was it?

    Your absolutley right Jack.
I am an old Army officer infantry vet. We should be on the front lines helping, sharing our knowledge with those Americans willing to learn. Our mission while on duty was to defend our Constitution. That document was for all Americans, not just for those of us that actually served.
Let us embrace our fellow American patriots and stand together against tyranny.

The constitution is being abused everyday. Even the cops are brainwashed to look for stolen vehicles because the insurance lobby has told Washington that vehicle recovery is more important than catching murderers. 1% of all murders get solved. If I only do my job correctly 1% of the time I don’t have a job. Second they keep harassing innocent people like Jeff gray for holding a sign. They ticket is constantly to make money for the state but then I see the Gadsden flag under a blue line sticker. This country looks more and more like Nazi Germany every day and Americans better arm themselves because when the government wants our guns it will be the 100k a year cop who will come for them. It is the standing army our forefathers warned us of.
