@@jayr3381he stands by the idea of the plot
@@jayr3381 Wouldn't you?
LOL that ending though.
"Your honor, I request a recess."
That is a Colonel that men would give their lives for.
Tommy Lee Jones "I request a recess"
Too funny!
"YESSSSSSSSS" lmfaoooo 😂😂😂
Sam Jackson played this scene like a gangster!! One of the best scenes I have ever seen.
Jackson did a great job here. You can tell from his eyes.
God, imagine if the enemy wasn't protected by us like this, imagine if we fought at their level.
+Accbar Sace America wouldn't still be there, we'd be done because there'd be no one left willing to fuck with us.
+Krugg Kruscherp I imagine it'd just destroy itself from within.
+Accbar Sace If you fought like that you would not be the US.
+Lars L well said
Then we would be no better than the enemy, we would be exactly like them.
Got to love all the hadjis starting shit over a movie. Yes get your justice over youtube congratulations.
Hunter Harbach If my commanding officer say waste the mother fuckers, than I'll shoot them too.
One of the best courtroom speeches / outbursts, right up there with Jack Nicholson in A Few Good Men.
One of my favorite scenes was when Tommy Lee asked a Vietnam Soldier if he would behave exactly as Samuel L. did.... And he said: Yes!
You save people's lives. The only people who question lethal force in these circumstances, are the ones who ARE NOT in the circumstances themselves.
Exactly!!
"would you shoot a marine corps radio operator in the head if you thought it would save the lives of your men?"
"Yes".
Mission first, Men always.

Thanks for putting this up... Used to play this scene on my VHS over and over.
I like how the clock over the jury stays at 11:14 for the entire scene and never moves...not even the sweeping second hand :)
Wish we had him in command of the Bendghazi embassy!

Samuel L, Jackson likes screaming in courtrooms.
Remember this, I read this somewhere, “the first casualty in any conflict is the truth.”
It's by the Chinese War Philosopher, Sun tzu
Tommy Lee Jones plays a great Marine......
Josef Hautala Samual L. Jackson was fantastic and set the tone for this movie, not taking away from anyone else.....I just liked the way Mr. Jones played the aging demon ridden officer. I thought his character was more complex and in depth with lackluster career, drinking, guilt, divorce and hints of conflict with his father and his son. The pressure on him not to fail his friend. Very deep part.
MrAzrancher Samuel L. Jackson was far better.
Nobody, and I mean nobody, can put the emphasis in "fuck", like Samuel L. BRAVO SIR.
You don't need a patch on your arm to have honor.
Guy Pearce is such a great actor.
Why is Samuel Jackson so good at playing an angry black man?
BelligerentTruth because Samuel Jackson is the angry black man
He is always angry
3 superb actors chewing the scenery, love it
5:33 Epic Samuel L Jackson line!
Tommy requesting that recess was best for everyone
All these college kids who become fucking lawyers in the military and pass judgement on actual combat veterans without ever firing there rifle or even leaving the comfort of his office.
Christopher Jorge and what about the college kids joining the Marines to fight for their country? I have several democratic liberal college educated friends who voluntarily joined the Marines and army because they felt a need to serve this country. Your copy pasta "The Kids and their 'rules'" mantra that has been rehashed since the great wars is duly noted. I would like to understand your argument, so let me slip into my Conservitard outfit.
War crimes, ha, what a silly notion.
silly libs and their "rules of war". silly libs, wait. wait what? the Nazis? oh they were evil! Right? Right, because they broke the rules. Not our military though, because they're infallable, and all charges against them must be liberal bias.
Get real, go eat a snickers bar and sit down. When you get back to reality, reply to me.
Some say he is still sitting there with an ever growing pile of wrappers beside him.
Lawyers dont pass judgment, jagoff. They make an argument and the jury passes judgment. It's how modern democracy works.
Here_Pep_Pep NO! the media judges them for us and will edit and incite to whatever means necessary to get a story and ratings, no matter the truth. Then they let a jury decide after they are done influencing. It's guilty until proven innocent and if you are proven innocent the media will print how you got away with it......
POGs is what they are.
"IF POSSIBLE, the enemy will be warned first then asked to surrender."
It wasn't possible without putting the lives of his marines at risk.
"Deadly force is the last resort."
Col. Childers didn't order his marines to return fire until after three of them were KIA.
"WHEN POSSIBLE, try to arrange the evacuation of civilians prior to any US attack."
This was not an offensive operation. It was a defensive action in support of the evacuation of US personnel from an American embassy that was under siege from hostile forces that occurred with little or no prior notice.
Colonel Childers was not only within his rights to give the order to return fire, it was his duty to do so in order to protect the marines under his command.
Hence, WHEN POSSIBLE!
@@wyattpeterson6286 and it wasn't possible to not do you can't say put your arms down full down he made the best decision unless you want to die well saying so, these people are fanatics and their hearts are full of hatred regardless of how you be merciful to these people, they wouldn't hesitate to kill there own people so why would they hesitate to kill you and one last thing if you point a gun at somebody you're intending to harm and or kill.!!!!
Sad thing is that videotape which showed the crowd was armed and firing upon the marines would've exonerated the Colonel but instead, got destroyed by that shithead NSA buereuacrat.
Sometimes a soldier has gotta do what they gotta do, no matter the cost. It's seems wrong, but it's true.
The Geneva conventions is a fucking joke and should be done away with. I'm fucking tired of that shit where even when being shot at you still get court martialed for getting shot back at.
Big picture aside, when you’re watching your friends get killed and have only a few seconds to make a decision you should be forgiven for giving an order like that.
Follow, Lead or get out of the way!
A decision, whether right or wrong, saves more Lives than not making a decision at all!
With leadership on the on the Battle Field, brings such responsibility that you cannot ask your Men to place their selves in the Line of Fire, if you are not willing to Lead from the front.

"IF possible" - not possible to warn the enemy under fire
God Samuel L jackson just kills every performance. Great scene
So is he suppose to warn the assaulters with rounds flying at him?!!!
And you believe an American movie?
@@omarqur3994 It's an appropriate response regardless of what nation or military you're talking about. What were they supposed to do? Pull a megaphone out of their asses and try to shout over the cheering crowd and the constant gunfire, whilst being shot to pieces themselves, all to warn people who came to cheer for their deaths IN THE MIDDLE OF A GUNFIGHT?
It would have been unreasonable to expect anyone to follow those rules of engagement under those circumstances--hell, holding the very people shooting at the US soldiers in this situation to those standards would be insane.
@@Raptor747 why dis they shoot the protesters of the snipers were on the roofs? Th
@@omarqur3994 because some of sniper use the crowd as a cover which the crowd is willing to be a shield ( When the shooting started, they were still at the same place. ) at this point they are not innocent civilian the fact that they willing to aid the attacker make them to be quasi hostile. Yes, they are not Combatant personnel but the thing that they do force the military to shooting into the crowd.
This is what terrorists and rebels hope for The higher the number of deaths, the more propaganda they can do and blame everything on the opponent.
this kind of thing happened in my country too. Terrorists like to use civilians as cover and when innocent civilians die, they blame the government or the military.
@@omarqur3994 Following orders, just like the nazi's did. In fact, this character would match up well to a nazi officer. Nazi's also shot unarmed people while they were on their knees, just like this character did.

"You think there's a script for fighting a war without kissing somebody off? Follow the rules and nobody gets hurt?"- reality check. WAR IS HELL!
I love kissing the enemy off
Great actor Samuel is
This scene sheds light on what is right vs what is legal.
Morals vs ethics
Samuel l Jackson, Leonardo di Ciapro and Tom Cruise are the best actors at yelling their lines.
Don't forget Gene Hackman
Lawyer's nightmare lol
"waste the motherfuckers, that's just brilliant" Tommy Lee Jones. too funny
and for the record, that's pretty tame believe it or not.
F-ing rules. I love it and, exactly right. Rules ONLY matter when BOTH sides follow them.
Hey the best leaders I ever served under were the ones not afraid to get busted down or court martialed.
I wish I had served under a Colonel like Samuel L. Jackson......Semper Fi...0311 forever....waste the M.F.ers...
CreamyChoclate LobsterWarrior. Watch the movie dumbass, he fired into the crowd because they were shooting at the marines
There were KIDS THERE DUMBASS KIDS

CreamyChoclate LobsterWarrior. Accidentally killing civilians is not good but it is in no way the same thing as what a terrorist does. Terrorist purposefully attack soft civilian targets
Blaze//Blazing_Archer wow a kid in a warzone got killed accidentally. Haven't you figured out that this shit happens in war? It's never the goal but it is an inevitable outcome of war.
One of Sam Jackson best roles . Period.
You're under oath Colonel!!! The look in his eyes when he listens to that... oh my god!!!
"I was not going to stand by and see another Marine die just to live by those F#@king rules"..

samuel jackson should gotten an academy award 4 this performance epic scene.
I love the way he cares for his marines ❤ this kind of good man is hard to find
Lol, i love the fact it advertises a David Spade show.
How the hell you gonna ask the sniper to surrender when he's hiding and popping caps off at your marines?
A PA (Bullhorn) works best! 😆
My favourite scene by Samuel L Jackson👌💯💖😀
Samuel is an amazing actor
If the enemy knows your book of engagement, you have to throw away that book and write a new one.
( To the captains ear .. STNG Guinean talking about book "The Best of both Worlds P.T. 2 )
Any enlisted would want an officer willing to go up to a Court Martial to bring them home alive.
I guess that phrase "right, wrong, I'm the guy with the gun" is rather accurate.
"waste the motherfuckers"
God damn right.
Samuel Jackson’s best performance
Samuel L. Jackson is a great actor! When he said”I was not going to stand by and watch another one of my marines die just to live by those fucking rules”, as a veteran myself, that hit home
Great movie made during the time of PC at it’s pinnacle.
Guy Pearce acted the shit out of that role, not easy with Samuel L and Tommy Lee on the same set.
5:34 now thats what makes him a badass marine
In war and combat, all the rules fly out of the window in order to save the lives your men and you.
Such an under-rated movie
When suits try to run things they have no business getting involved in.
Who says there rules in War? the truth is there's none.
I forgot about this move i need to watch it again.
Hollywood playing soldier. You ALWAYS have the right to fire at any threat that shoots at you or those you are protecting regardless of ROE…
That was intense.
He protected his men from terrorist
I have never heard of this movie. It looks pretty good.
Oooh Raaah!!💯👊🏽
I bet the prosecutor did not give a shot about Marines getting killed
Its his job to prosecute regardless of what he thinks or believes.
@@AllFallBeforeMe he looked like he took it seriously
From what I read about this film, the prosecutor was just trying to restore the relationship between US and the middle east by pinning the blame all on Childers.
At the very least, Sokal did not put the marines at the top of his list of things to worry about most.
The captain there does need to be careful as I believe they mentioned that some of the court members do have line experience. That meaning they have served in a combat unit with possible combat experience. They will understand that the fog of battle doesn't follow a script. And they will see right through his cross, and have no respect for him.
