Hello, thank you for your little used mouthpiece tests (I like the T35 vandoren) and I would like to know your opinion on the role of the square chamber, and how would the metal baritone yanagisawa mouthpiece sound? Good health in these difficult times and a thousand excuses for translation. Paul
Hey! Thank you so much for your videos, tips and reviews! I'm about to begin doing some horn section work on a rock/pop band, I'm currently playing a Vandoren T75 Jumbo Java that I borrowed from a friend and although the sound is very bright, it seems to fit the brass section nicely. The problem is I'm having difficulty controlling it since I find it too open for my taste. I'm about to buy a mouthpiece for myself and I'm considering the Yanagisawa 7, since I read great reviews about it (including yours) and I'd like to buy a nice all around versatile piece (and it would look killer on my silver nickeled tenor)! Do you think it would be a good choice for the horn section work? Thanks again!
THE GOOD: I would highly recommend this piece not just for horn section work but for overall. Its very versatile! THE BAD: From what I've seen, they make all the middle facings(5-6-7-8-9 Japan) but they are not so easy to find in the U.S.A. I think 5-7-9 are easily available from the big chain stores. Its about $300 now which is about in the middle but still, its $300. It can be a little dull when not pushed hard but IT REALLY COMES ALIVE when you lay into it. I wish Yanagisawa took it more seriously. I don't think they've altered the design in 20years. My advice is to find out what the return policy is and TRY IT ON THE GIG not just in the practice room. This way you can dial in facings, reeds, ligatures...but if you don't like it, you can return it. I'll never get rid of mine!!! Good Luck with whatever you choose.
Thank you so much for your reply and for taking the time! Unfortunately I live in Brasil and the return policies over here don't work like they do in the US. I can't find the piece in any stores to try it on the spot, I'd have to buy it online and hope for the best, hence all the questions.. so it's pretty much a shot in the dark for me. But from what I've heard and read, and from your reply, I'm pretty optimistic! In any case I'll let you know the outcome! ;) Best regards, Mariano.
One that you can buy for cheap and it is a great mouthpiece is a Vandoren Java t55. It isn't as bright as the Jumbo Java, but still has some edge, and it is very easy to control. try a a 2,5 or a 3 reed on it. those are fantastic mouthpieces and I read quality control is very good, I got one used on ebay for cheap. I also tried an alto A55 and I like it a lot too.
It's in a completely isolated area of the ship cut off from guest and crew cabins. In fact, its actually near the crew bar!!! They pretty much leave me alone.
Fantastic, very informative and detailed review. Just what was needed. 👍🏼
Thanks

The square chambers can give a more focused sound but may restrict loudness
Wow! Definitely diggin your sound bro!
Thanks!
You might've mentioned it, but what size of reed were you playing on with that mouthpiece??
U play very well bro
Thanks

Great review! Have you tried (or know anything) about this mouthpiece model for soprano saxophone? Looking to potentially buy it.
I used to play a yanagisawa mpc on soprano and I've been meaning to do that review. Thanks for reminding me
If you don't mind, what mouthpiece savers/patches do you use?
I use the Selmer ones. I haven't seen them online. Only in music stores
Which mouthpiece do you prepare, otto link metal vintage or the yanagisawa metal mouthpiece?
I prefer the Otto Link over the Yanagisawa
Do you think its worth getting a used one of these pieces for £50?
Yes
Are you using a Rico reed? Am I wrong?
Vandoren Red Box 2.5. Thanks for tuning in to my channel
@@Sirvalorsax Thanks so much mate!
HAHA!! I used to do that...play in the stairwells! Did any of the officers come and tell you to stop?
It's in a completely isolated area of the ship cut off from guest and crew cabins. In fact, its actually near the crew bar!!! They pretty much leave me alone.
That's fantastic!
@@Sirvalorsax Fringe benefit to playing cruise ships. Love it!
I like to ask you, where are you playing at? A ship? Hotel?
I'm on a ship. I can't go into any real detail other than that though
Cool bro!
