Pitch issues are a typical thing that happen to all musicians whether they can be a little flat or sharp and sometimes it's simply so much to control. There is a recent video of Flea performing Dark Necessities with a flat string. This doesn't invalidate him as a musician.

I wouldn't go as far as to say his vocals are" weak." Its very hard to keep your vocal range in top shape after 30 years. He's been singing since 83-84, so his voice is fading after all those years. Take Perry Farell for example, his voice has faded as well. I still love them both...

He is weirdly inconsistent, if you watch him at pink pop and a couple others lately, hes been really good vocally, other times he can be a little flat. But what you need to remember is, you don't go to a concert for perfect/album performances you go for the energy, fun and everything else that comes with it. I think it comes down to him deciding to rock out/or actually focus on vocals.

you need to grow up and change with the times... these guys have been around a long time. they arent in their 20's anymore. this is amazing mature music with a great edge to it. I am totally digging the piano and keyboard parts... more on the studio version than live though.
It's a new song and he just got over a stomach illness. Look at some footage of Under the Bridge from 1992 or Californication from 1999. It takes a while to rebuild a voice after not touring for so long.
to my ears he reaches the notes more or less,but it just doesn't sound 'perfect'....he's just not a perfect live singer...but people love him anyway....because he's a great guy and songwriter....all these 'perfect' singer will never be that cool....(okay some will, but many won't ;) )
