One of the most famous and widely covered stories of all time has to be the story of D.B. Cooper, the man who hijacked a plane in the 1970s and then parachuted out of it with $200,000 in stolen cash, never to be seen again. But what if I told you that there’s a very similar story from the Philippines that’s also extremely interesting, but it’s just for some reason, much, much less well-known? Let’s dive in…
If you're new here, hey! My name is Andy Jiang and I do easy-to-understand, extremely detailed dives into some of the most fascinating, bizarre, and unreal untold true stories that are out there. Subscribe and turn on all post notifications so you don’t miss any of my weekly uploads!

Francis Cabel is a hero. sacrificing all of his emotions, hopes, and nearly his life for the safety of everyone else. A true man
❤
Most people wouldn’t be able to do what he did
@@BentBMV bro his wife cheated on him with the police so thats why he did that
I could justify his actions because if wife didnt cheat on him, he wouldnt be like that
@@GuardShroomVlogsandGaming68908 Bro if a man hadn't murdered his dad he wouldn't have done that either.
Ultimately he made a bad choice. Most people wouldn't hijack a plane even if the same thing happened to them.
@@johnnyearp52 hes mad to davao police so he did revenge
This is actually quite sad. I'm glad the truth of the hijackers situation was revealed. The culprit really was the corrupt police force in the area. They probably stole the cash too.
I swear that no movie held me this close to the edge of my seat more than this exciting narration... love it, love it, love it, you masterful storyteller !
I'm from Philippines and this is the 1st time I heard this story
Same man xd
Kaya nga untold ei
Mee too
@@ronaldocastillo5979 haha true
Hidden story’s bro!!!!
It's disappointing that the actions of others can drive others into doing threatening things. I don't think what happened to Reginald justifies his actions, however had no murders or cheating happened, this situation could've been prevented.
I find it amazing how this channel manages to find unique stories, it's annoying when you see a cool sounding video from another video only to find out that you already saw the story
Love the narration! As a Filipino who loves history and airplanes I have never heard this story! Love your videos!
malay here, stop the conflict and live peacefully
What an incredible story, Andy! You're an amazing storyteller ❤
Francis is a hero, one of the bravest and strongest people to ever walk this earth. Thank you Andy, for telling this beautifully.
I'm not even surprised that so many passengers gave so generously at rhe mere words, "someone desperately needs financial help"
Its been my experience that Filipino people are some of the most compassionate and giving people on the planet. They will share and even sacrifice to help someone in need.
And they do it without any quid pro quos.
In a a society where its "everyman for himself" Filipino people will be the ones to endure and survive through a culture of "community strength".
They are a beautiful 😍 people with cultural values that can seemingly heal the world if the world would let it.
Francis is beyond a wonderful human being and definitely God's gift. No doubt he was born for that moment.
Nothing is by chance imho
Your stories never disappoint. Listening to them makes doing house chores that much more enjoyable! I'm lucky to know of your channel and have free access to all your content, you could easily sell this stuff, but you don't. I think that in itself really makes the purpose of your content shine- not for the clicks or for the money, but just to educate people. You're what UA-cam is for.
that's not what the phrase "fail to disappoint" means
@@misan2002 eh whatever it's the thought that counts. What does it mean to you?
@@staticostrich4689 it means that the videos are always disappointing because they never *fail* to disappoint.
The correct phrase is "never fail to amaze me" or "never disappoint"
@@misan2002Hi Grammerly!
@@misan2002 big brain moment, gotcha lmao
This man can make a story about a rhino and a banana peel and a guy named Eugene a suspenseful story 😭
Im from the Philippines and I have never heard of this story in my entire life, not even on social media. Im pretty sure not even my family know about this lol. Wow, Andy. Idk where u find all these kind of unheard stories but you are the best at telling stories. Also this deserves so much views! 😤🫶🥹
This story gives such mixed emotions and because of your great storytelling, I can imagine the events in my mind thanks to you.
Francis is a HERO!!!
this story made me cry

Yesssss! These videos are starting to get more views. Not nearly as much as they should, but it's better than a few weeks ago! Keep it up, these videos will be HUGE someday! You could even make a tv documentary I'm sure. Keep it up man!
I truly enjoyed your story. I’ve only seen your “shorts” so I was surprised to come across this story. I look forward to seeing more. Your ad for hello fresh was hilarious. Keep up the great work!
These videos are so good and even the ad readings and shorts are good

Thank you for this video your videos make my day
I love your videos so much andyyjiang ❤
Fascinating story made more fascinating by the fact that it is true. Thanks Andy.
Bro this has to be the best sponsorship of all time 😭
This needs to be made into a movie, with no changes to what happened
fun fact: This exact story is included in the Filipino film called "Metro Manila" in the movie the story is talled as the story of Alfred Santos the desperate man
Young man you are a documentary natural your narrative is always interesting and keeps you wanting to watch more of these .I don't know how to say it better keep up the good work😊😮
i'm so glad francis survived that!
Thanks Andy!
This is a wild story i thank you for posting every week and you put dedication into these videos.
What a rollercoaster of emotions this story gave me! Missed this when I took my kids on vacation. So glad I came back to watch!! And loved your Hello Fresh ad. Had me laughing!
Keep up the good content , very good storytelling skills
Hi andy! I love ur vids 😊
i love the sponsors! they are so funny!
i havent watched the vid yet but i am sure its gonna be amazing
I've heard this story before on national news but forgot most of it because i was still small. I didn't know it was this detailed. I kinda feel bad for Reginald though
The fact that these stories have actually happened makes me depressed, especially for the people involved.
You do a great job of making these videos seem like Netflix documentaries.
Very interesting!
WOWOWOW! AS FILIPINA THIS GIVES ME CHILLS🤩🤩!!
LETSGOOOOOOO!
If I wasn't so broke, I would definitely support you in any way.
love these story’s!!
woah!!! I wanna know where the cash is 😭
I somewhat feel bad for the hijacker’s previous experiences, it definitely would have pushed be to be unstable if I went through the same trauma. They definitely pushed him too far. Maybe if things were different then he might have lived a normal life
His wife cheating on him provokes his attitude, his wife cheat on him with police
If his wife dont cheat on him, he wouldnt hi jack planes
Same here. On the other hand, I also feel bad for the hijacker. He went through such pain and the only person who could have help him at that time left him for a police. 😢
@@GuardShroomVlogsandGaming68908and the wife took his children and ran away with them. I don't really believe they were his the wife might have been cheating for long time and the kids were the cops which makes things even worse😢
Amazing storytelling
Fascinating.
bro the ending tho... THAT WAS AMAZING
I grew up in the philippines and I did not know about this story, great video and story telling as always Andy!
the story about Eugene made me cry for 34 hours
Could you cover the db cooper story in one of your videos. Could be a short as well. Please?
"Courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyway."
~John Wayne
haven’t watched the full video but i can tell it’s already going to be awesome as always!
also i think you should do a hidden story (or short) on arshad sharif since he’s been mysterious in pakistan for around a year now
update: i watched the video and it was amazing
I’m from the Philippines and I never learned or heard this even at school
Andy, you have gotten so good at telling your stories, I am excited for you as you continue to grow.
Ohh wowwwwwwww...I'm in the Philippines right now and I will forever be terrified and awed
This man got his hands on a grenade but couldn’t get a normal parachute
What a story!
Andy with his classics sponsor shenanigan's.
god i love this story its such an interesting topic
It's so wild that I've never heard of this story before in my life! I would've been like four years old when this happened and living in Davao.
This was straight from a movie. What a story
We are back with a good story 😊
This is the second time I've heard this story. His homemade "parachute" was a modified nylon camping tent and never would have worked well enough for him to walk away.
I DID NOT expect this nor even knowing about this in our country
RIP Reginald, you deserved better
And to Francis and Capt, hats off to you guys
Um, wow. Just wow.
Sad that the hijacker did not get help for his mental anguish.
This is the craziest story I heard all year so far… and I myself have been through some sh¡t.
Ngayon ko lang nalaman ito.
wow bro where did you learn your body language it’s is fantastic and your speech as well
Is there a movie about this? Or anything similar, Would love to watch it!
After hearing the story of hijackers in the end I felt bad for him
GM Andy..
from your friend in northern AZ
Eugene is a mad lad, he needs a cameo every time theres a sponser
with this video i hope you can do a video about philippine airlines flight 434. basically a bomb detonated on board yet the pilots still managed to make an emergency landing safely
It would be a shame if the hijacker's Father's murder didnt get a full investigation after all of this
