I live with more chronic pain than most could imagine, and SOHYANG with her mission to bring joy and comfort to people through her singing, is such a balm to my soul. Cedric, it is so wonderful to see a reactor who actually understands So Hyang! I'm sorry to hear that you also went through cancer at a relatively young age, just like So Hyang. A trip or two through the meat grinder really changes one's perspective on life. You _know_ you are not the same person you were before, and you actually need God just in order to keep drawing breath. Life becomes a much richer experience and you want to share something special about it with the rest of the world.
That is what is so special about So Hyang. Plus the fact there is no greater singer in the world. Her voice, vocal agility and incredible expressiveness and emotional content make her profoundly valuable to those who recognize this. As you said, how can a person even express these matters in words? Please keep reacting to her singing!

I commented on your first video about how her authenticity and emotional connection to the audience is a throughline in all of her performances but that you would also be hearing things you'd never heard before vocally. This song is basically seven minutes of everything that makes her so special and the look on your face after the acapella section was exactly how I look every single time I've watched this performance. I am not a believer myself but she is very strong evidence that I am wrong.

This is her masterpiece. She gave this song everything. She claims that she may never perform this again because it was so difficult. She also contracted hepatitis during a blood transfusion during the cancer treatment. Even thru all of that she kept her faith. I’m not religious but I respect that. Every producer in the USA has tried to get her to sign and tour but she isn’t interested. She would rather stay local and support her church and sing for god. She is also a science fiction writer and has successful books. She’s truly a work of art.

Nice Cedric. Your comments are also honest and authentic. You should react to her performance of the Korean folk anthem, Arirang Alone. In Everyone she declares her faith, in Arirang she expresses her nation's soul. To my mind, the two performances comprise her masterwork. She has many other performances that you'll enjoy, including some simple but beautiful productions during the age of COVID. In these, she joined younger pop stars to tour the country singing in parks, parking lots, community centers, and work places. These Begin Again Korea productions are precious.

The original singer for this song is Yoon Bok Hee who is a living legend in South Korea still. This song was written by her older brother as a gift to help her get through her hardship and they've been in show business during Korean war and debuted in 1951 when she was 5 years old! I remember hearing this song when I was little was blown away although I didn't understand the lyrics but when I grew up and understood the lyrics, it mad me cry because it's so powerful massage and encouragement and he loved his little sister since they lost their parents during the war, they survived on their own. Cedric, there is a version of this video with English subtitles added - this song is about Jesus. You would especially love the lyrics, so you should find it. Sohyang can make her audience cry, but she reserves her emotion for her delivery of the message. God create a Supergirl - that's Sohyang, and that's why she wears a cape. =)
Speaking about her dress and the lighting, you will be pleased to learn that Sohyang does all of her own arrangements for live stage appearances; music, chorus, orchestra, lighting, and costumes. By the way, she has had no training, only practice. Fast forward to around 2015 and she spent time in training for lyrical nuances with Michael Jackson's voice coach Seth Riggs.
Also pausing intermittently usually allows you to avoid copyright strikes without dulling the screen. I am not a reactor, but the others know how to do that - you should make inquiries.

This is a Korean/English gospel sing and her longest and hardest and one of her most emotional, not many dry eyes there.

Thank you once again, Cedric for another great reaction video! You are very observant, perceptive and knowledgeable! As far as formal training, I don’t think she has had to much! The Korean Producer who heard her practising once and had her record her first song and then go on tour with him undoubtedly gave her some pointers. Also at times she has met people like Seth Riggs (who coached Micheal Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Barbra Streisand and Josh Groban
And many others) taught her mixed voice and breath control ! Obviously after these meetings she practiced a lot! She said in a TV interview( on a Christian Show) that she became obsessive at one time about being perfect in her performances but was not satisfied! She would practise every song 100 times before a performance! She said she was having one of her usual conversations/ arguments with ,” GOD,” and she was expressing her displeasure and He told her to not worry so much about trying to be perfect while singing praise to God ! He said if you are perfect you may not leave any room for me! She thought long and hard on that! Finally she understood she said. He was telling me, the God in front and centre , not my voice, it is my message! She said she realized if she concentrated too much on technique and what she sounded like it was vanity and the message needed emotion more then just technique. So she has great technique but emotion and the message of the song( eg. GOD) must come first. So she reached a balance of the two ! She is very open and often has told of her relationship and discussion she has had with .”GOD”. Later I’ll tell you more if you wish and how some it relates directly to her turning down recording contracts three times! Thank you again and eagerly await your next SoHyang , reaction :-))

I am not religious at all, surprisingly enough I got to sing in a gospel choir during 1 year (they knew beforehand!) we had a lot of heart-to-heart discussions about faith and such. Actually she is relaying a message from god to us, and it's believable. You do know that she is basically self-taught right? She had a seminar with some world-renowned vocal coach Rick somebody that lasted around 4 weeks I think, it could have been shorter. Much like Morissette and many of the Philippine Singers. They all learned by listening to their favorite singers and incorporating what they heard them do.
She is saying, 'I am just a vessel like you and EVERYONE that God will use the way He designed for you to be used. I am no better or less than any other vessel that He uses to find a way into the hearts and minds of your fellow men and women on this planet. I would venture to say none of us will find that fulfillment until we find out how He wants to use us.
Nothing. You say nothing and just relax into the tears she brings to your eyes, because her message is TRUE. Let it wash over you and absorb it. These are the things God sends us to bolster our resolve and commitment to Him. Enjoy the message and enjoy the towering talent He has given her. And the congregation said, AMEN!!!!
