Thank's so much. At 77 years young. I love playing this game. But hard a hard time with the swing. Thank's to you my swing. and game is getting much better.
When I saw your video, I thought it to be another guy talking a lot but not being helpful. At that moment I played the game for over ten hours, not being able to win once. I was in a championship at +2, 3 strokes off the lead. I decided to give it one more go, changed to the two finger approach and to my surprise I ended up winning the tournament at -5 and getting 0 bogeys since I changed the grip. So it's fair to say your approach is very good. Thx for the help.
Great video! What confuses me about the timing is when it says fast or slow, what EXACTLY am I doing too slow? Pulling it back too slow, forward too slow? Is one too slow relative to the others? That's the frustrating thing I can have five swings that seem the same to me but I'll have 1 perfect, 1 fast, and 3 slow. I don't know what the heck it wants.
Great video. As someone who has played since the original The Golf Club offering, I can add a two things. 1. If you really want to get a sense of feeling the club more, I find the Xbox Elite 2 controllers stick tension helps a ton. I set it on the tightest option. 2. As Respawn pulls half way back on full shots, I actually do this method but reversed. So, I take the stick back until the club reaches the top of swing. This happens well before the stick is pulled all the way back.
@@massey8 Of course it's all personal preference, but I use the right thumb stick and adjust the tension to the tightest. There is a key that comes on the Elite case. Simply take the thumbsick off and turn the key left or right.
One thing to note is that this game is super controller dependent. I've used a few different types of controllers on this game, & specific controllers like the Thrustmaster eSwap X, Razer Wolverine, or similar controllers that have resistance technology in the thumbsticks. You're using the Series X controller which has fairly loose thumbsticks with very "plastic" feeling resistance. So for you to keep a straight swing would take much more effort than other controllers. So definitely consider looking into different controllers to try for PGA since you're a competitive player in the game & maybe this is something you could mention in future videos since it seems to me to be quite a big factor in the game, thanks for the vid & GL on the grind 🤝
I spent a couple days experimenting with swings and both thumbs. I used to right stick pinch method on 2k21, but now I'm horizontal thumb with left stick. Then I had to dial in where on my torso to lean my controller and thumb lines up even with the down dpad and my left index finger right between LT and LB blah blah. Basically find my landmarks on the controller. Then every shot I do a full pullback and let go to make sure it "feels" like a straight backswing before I swing for real. Lol I feel like I have more routines and quirks than I would if I played real golf. But starting to dial it in and probably moving up to master swing soon. But everything you said is very true, you really have to find what works for you individually, but still take every suggestion you hear or see and at least try it. You never know which technique would be just right for you. For example one thing I used to dabble with on 2k21 that I don't do here but it's fun to try is holding stick totally still with thumb, and shift the whole controller forward then backward with the other hand. Was work staying straight, but consistent tempo felt easier. I do have one quick suggestion. One thing that helps me get more consistent in always finding exactly the same spot and setup with my controller, is every single shot I take the controller away from my spot and even shake out my hands. It forces you to build muscle memory every time you return your controller to your perfect setup spot. Also by shaking out my arms a sec I'm forcing myself to stay loose and no longer get tension throughout a round. BTW, anybody else wish they would let you customize which button toggles practice swing? I hate that it's having to push in the stick you swing with :/
This video literally just saved my game. I kept holding the analog stick through the downswing. After watching you just do a quick push and release, I'm consistently hitting it straighter now.
Great video and tips for not only newcomers but even long players of the series!! Many thanks for the mention also, much appreciated and delighted to have helped get the ideas into your head to help out others. I've gotten quite used to pulling the stick fully back to the housing fast before the vibration kicks in for any partial shots. But I'm actually going to try out what you demonstrated here and see how that goes. I do that for putting and has always worked great, but my brain never thought to do the same with partials. It's as if it's telling my thumb that I HAVE to pull the stick all the way back!! Can't wait to see how well it works, and if I get it down, could also be good to have more than one method to have in case one isn't working the best at any time. Once again, great video and many thanks.
The conversation we had about pulling the stick back slow and pulling it back full speed for partials got me testing out all sorts of ways to hit shots. Found a nice groove with this method so thanks!
I wish I could give you more upvotes for this video. The “pinch” technique has taken me from absolutely despising the swing mechanics, to being able to have a consistent swing. Instantly enhanced my enjoyment of the game. Thank you!
I think you still fast the chips because of the factors that go in to them vs. putting. Comparing the chip stroke to the putt is a good method, and its worked for me, but I don't flick my putts through like you do. I try to match the pace I pull the putt back with, still only pulling back a fraction. This mismatched speed may also affect the quality of the roll the ball has too (can't quite confirm that yet though). Since you flick putts (which works fine clearly) and use that for chips, the snap through suddenly causes a fast since the through pace was way faster than the back pace.
I've been playing master for about 2 months and joined TGCTours for the first time and made it into CC-H after qualifying. I made the cut the first two tournaments but the 3rd one i played terribly due to having a bad tempo so I will try the two finger method. I use just my thumb and my swing plan does come in to the left and then straightens up. I play on ps5 and have had so many swing calibrations to find my perfect swing. Master swing is frustrating but also a challenge but thankyou for your help and guides. 😎⛳️ good luck with your TGCTours rounds cheers 🍻
Thanks heaps bro that 2 finger pinch method has helped just went back and played my best round since I have had this game and restarted my career as I was only 2 rounds into q school and was 10 over now am 8 under in my first round👍
just picked up the game recently and was like... oh crap, this is just DIFFERENT. thankfully i knew who to turn to. i'll be working my way through your videos and getting better with each swing!
For me the thing in the bottom right that shows how straight and how your thing is timed always disappears straight away and I usually don’t see it after hitting. Do you know how to turn that setting on
Partial shots changes your pull points on your tempo .. so if you come through at your normal tempo, it'll be a fast shot .. pulling the stick back slower (or halfway) works because that's slowing down your tempo.
Your tip about not going all the way back to the thumb stick housing has really helped me out so thank you so much! The infuriating thing about this system is how inconsistent it is. I could do what feels like exactly the same swing 3 times in a row, 2 would be perfect and one would be slow. Thanks to your tips I’m avoiding really fast / slow swings much more (I’m a right thumb flicker) but the game doesn’t actually explain what makes a swing slow or fast. This can ruin approach shots so no matter how calculated your approach shot is, it can easily go out of the window because of this bi-polar mechanic
I just started playing today. I played a lot of ps2 golf games but nothing until 2k23. I did okay to start after about 10 tournaments I was a 4.5 handicap. I watched this tutorial and shot a -7 coming 2nd and then going 3 straight top 10s. This tutorial is amazing! Thank you
Personally, I hold my thumb basically parallel to the controller and rest the stick on my thumb joint. I find that it’s tough to really not have a straight swing plane that way. One technique I learned for putting is to pull back, and just release the stick. This cause the stick to snap straight back up, and give you a perfect plane
Ill have to try this.. i always partially pull the stick back till my players backswing reaches my shoulders then push forward.. im trying to get the flick forward he is talking about.. i also noticed if you want a stiffer xbox joystick pull up on your joystick till you hear a clip and it will be stiffer for a shot or two then the ball of the joystick will fall back into the controller back too its default position so you can keep doing this every few shots. It stiffens the joystick so its harder too tug left or right on you follow through takes some getting used too im still playing with it..
Dude, in pga 2k21, I was usually shooting like -7 to -10 on Master difficulty. I just downloaded 23 yesterday and I can’t hit a perfect to save my life. Even on Pro diffy. I swear it feels delayed or something… one swing is a fast and the exact same swing will be a very late. EDIT: The problem was my elite controller. Even after dabbling with all of its settings, the timing is basically completely random when using that controller. I switched to a normal controller and was magically striping perfects.
i came here because i played my second ever game on pga 23, pebble beach, the full 18, and finished 34 over. now i have a better understanding of driving and general shot ,thanks for the advice, ima do the nipple pinch :) 💣💣💣💣 but not all the way back or forwards as i was doing.
Something that helped me out so much in this new game was turning my swing vibration off. The vibration occurs earlier then you actually want to start your downswing this year. I rarely every hit very fast or very slow now after doing this. Another suggestion is to buy a new controller if you have stick drift & can afford it because stick drift on your analog sticks will hurt you so bad in golf video games.
For me the thing in the bottom right that shows how straight and how your thing is timed always disappears straight away and I usually don’t see it after hitting
this game is so bad, my swing line is inside the white every time and i usually get fast or slow and sometimes it goes straight and other times it snap hooks but on the range i hit it normally
You can do the flick on PS, but on PS you have to hit the top of the controller pretty hard, or you get a super slow swing and the ball goes like 40vyrds to the right. This is a holdover from the 2019 game when flicking became a big issue on TGC tours and they got HB to put some anti flicking measure in the game.
I watched a video b4 this and it didn't help at all. But I love the old golf games so I didn't wanna give up on this game. Found this video and within 10 mins of watching this and playing along at the same time, my swing got about 50% straighter and my tempo is 80% better....no joke. My swing wasn't terrible to begin with, but my tempo was awful. Caused me to get a +25 in my first game 😂😂. Thanks a ton! I'll definitely be able to enjoy this game now
I want to say thank you for showing different grips for swing stick. I was about to go back to 3 click or quit the game altogether. Your videos are great. Thank you and keep it up.
I personally disagree. I like the challenge. It's what makes me feel like I'm 'Kinda' playing real golf. Maybe try using the button system? Maybe you'd like that.
Turn vibration off and get used to how far back you need to go for partial shots and you will be more accurate. The vibration throws your swing into a panic
TGC will pull your scores if more than a few shots the API does not show data all the way to the top and the system completes the data on the top 1/3 or so.
@@MoreRespawn I hear you, but they are anti flick, and it’s one of the biggest, if not, the biggest reason players scores have been pulled in 2019 and 2021 games.
Yup I’ve used the index flick forever and then decided to join TGC and immediately wasn’t given a score. Come to find out that the flick just past half doesn’t register and is considered cheating. Sufficed to say I was pissed. But I prevailed, Took me another month or 2 to get consistent again but I got there so I could play on TGC. Still not sure why it really matters but it does or at least it used too. I was going to post this as well but saw this. Might want to warn people just in case. ;)
Got to wait till Monday to have my first round. Buzzing for it. Thanks for the videos and your helpful input to wet my appetite. Really looking forward to the 3 click button swing.....I'm 55 and old school lol Top channel Top man 👍
I've only been using 3 click so far and my drive and pitch shots are a lot more consistent than it used to be with the analog stick. My chips and putting has become way worse though. It's not as "free" and easy as everyone makes it out to be. Still fun though.
@@jjsixtwofour I’m not DC Kelly, but the game is really fun. Absolutely worth a pick up and you can probably find it on sale I’d imagine. They just introduced a ranked play system which has been fun. Great community of course designers too!
QUESTION? I am in the last course to win the entire season in 2k23 PGA Tour game and I am stuck in practice mode and cant figure out how to take it off so I can proceed??
Please help. I can’t start a new round once I’ve done my 18 holes. It takes me to all the options such as replay, round results, scorecard, etc. All I want to do is start a new round. I’ve pressed every button, I’ve restarted the XBox and when it reboots it takes me to exactly the same place. I’ve been sat here for almost an hour trying to restart a game and have had no joy. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Quick question, how do I turn off the power meter on the left ? I’ve been coming back to this video for the last 4 nights replaying it and practicing. Thanks for this
when i've tried to not go all the way up with the right stick it either doesn't even swing or i swing super slow , the pinch method doesn't work for me
Thank you for these tips. I’ve been using the 8bit Pro 2 controller shaped like a PlayStation controller on this and EA’s golf game. The length on the 8 bit do’s joystick makes it perfect for the swinging mechanism. My opinion. Much easier than a regular or pro Xbox controller that I tried. Anyways just a heads up
You have to keep playing it. It takes a long time to get good at a game like this. I can drive it 250-300 yards fairly accurately , but I can't make the long putts. Lot's of double and triple bogies.
Video helped alot. I became more consistent in shots. I hit alot straighter and I can putt from longer distances. Still trying to work on my chips and bunker shots. I am also trying to get the flick down but I won more online matches too.
I did wanna say you can hit the housing on your down swing as well as your upswing and still hit a straight shot. I do it all the time I also wanted to add that your tips are spot on in this game. And your putting video for 2K21 works really well on 2K23 as well
Green side chips are all about the touch. The timing doesn’t really change but you have to be softer on the stick with the downswing. Think about how a real golfer would hit something like that, nice and easy.
Hi Man, l love your tutorials, l am just learning this game and the settings, some how l have turned the swing meter off, so now when l take a shot the blue line that shows how straight your swing was in the white space has disappeared, l take a swing and there in nothing in the white line ....could you tell me how to turn it back on please,👍👍
Dude my problem is it’s always slow or fast … how do you get perfect !?! I switched to 3 click like a noob bc I’m so tired of ruining games..especially online duos… killing it for my teammate a lot
The swing temp makes 0 sense to me... 2k21 i was always striping the ball. This game i cannot hit anything.. Im always either insanely fast or super slow....
im finding it difficult to read the fairway and green. I don't know how to compenasate for spin and roll. when you press triangle it gives you a rough area where your ball is going to land but I can't accurately hit the area. for example if im approaching a green and my preview shows around the hole. when the ball lands it can roll completely off the green and I don't know how to get around this. the grid on the green with the lines that move doesn't give me enough info, Im very frustrated about hitting the preview area
On ps4 and 5 you have to hit the top pretty hard on "normal" shots or it gives you an automatic slow. It's way over the top protection against flicking.
This probably sounds stupid, but i wanted to thank you. After watching your video, i hit 3 eagles on my next full round just practicing the control techniques you went over. No shots into the rough. Thank you.
been playing these games for years and never have a problem. this new game my swing is terrible. it keeps saying my swing is fast when it clearly isnt. any help?
You do a great job and have an awesome attitude bud I appreciate the direct no fluff style. I am hitting much straighter now, thank you. On to the putt tutorial!
This is amazing. You do such an amazing job teaching this! I was about to give up but all these tips really helped. A lot more practice to go but I’m finally not nervous every time I address the ball. Thank you!!!
No matter what I do when I use an iron or a wedge it says I'm swinging too slow no matter what, unless I flick out super hard and then it's way too fast
i made it through lots of seasons, and all of a sudden something changed where i am hitting it low on all shots...short distance....over par every hole.....i cant figure out what changed....i hit it low off tee
!!WARNING!! It was said a couple posts down but I think bares repeating. Now this used to be thing and have no idea if they will implement it again but if you decide to join TGCtours and use a flick method that does not hit the front, your score will not be counted and is considered cheating. I’m 53 and been playing these for a long time and I use an index finger method of a flick. When I joined The Tour I wasn’t given a score because it wasn’t considered a full swing (basically cheating) I couldn’t find anything in the rules (at the time at least)… Suffice to say I was a little pissed. Anyway it took me another month or 2 to get my consistency back up by hitting the front of the swing MUSCLE MEMORY IS A THING 😂😂😂😂 now every once in a while my finger would fall off the stick and that seemed to be just fine so guessing there’s a certain percentage type of thing going on with it but if you use it all the time… your score will not be counted. Again this used to be thing and don’t know if they still use it or it’s not a thing anymore. Other than that love the channel and a lot of good info going on. 😊
Ngl, I’ve been playing this game off and on since 2002 tiger woods on ps2, and I know a lot has changed, but sometimes it’s just as simple as getting a good feel for it. Whatever works. This video is awesome, but now I’ve somehow taken the swing I’ve done for years and years and trying to fix it and it’s messing me up! Good news is I’ll be ok! 😂😂
Have they fixed the issues with the left swing stick? I have a brand new controller so I know its not because of the controller. I've been using 3 click because swing stick does not work.
Been practicing for nearly 2 hours and always seem to get the grey area in the fast area but if I change the pace even the slightest bit slower its then too slow
On partial shots, what you are saying makes sense. In real golf, you make a 11 O'Colcok, or 10 O;Clock swing, etc. Now, I am watching this even tho I play with a mouse. But i am here for the education Zane. nice video.

Excellent video. Helped me a lot, used left stick before and now start using right stick. Easier to find right tempo and much straighter also😊
how about using really thick tape to keep the stick straight?
The fact that it's so convoluted to just swing the club is an issue with this game. It should be simplified like hot shots golf.
I personally disagree. I like the challenge. It's what makes me feel like I'm 'Kinda' playing real golf. Maybe try using the button system? Maybe you'd like that.
Turn vibration off and get used to how far back you need to go for partial shots and you will be more accurate. The vibration throws your swing into a panic
i cannot get the timing on pitch shots for some reason
great tips. I switched to make my swing use my left thumbstick and that made a bit improvement for me, so if all else fails try that.
TGC will pull your scores if more than a few shots the API does not show data all the way to the top and the system completes the data on the top 1/3 or so.
I have played the TGC Tours for 6 years.
Might want to warn people just in case. ;)
Oh and if you use that a lot with no penalties, maybe you’re just their buddy. 😂😂😂
Got to wait till Monday to have my first round.
Buzzing for it.
Thanks for the videos and your helpful input to wet my appetite. Really looking forward to the 3 click button swing.....I'm 55 and old school lol
Top channel Top man 👍
I've only been using 3 click so far and my drive and pitch shots are a lot more consistent than it used to be with the analog stick. My chips and putting has become way worse though. It's not as "free" and easy as everyone makes it out to be. Still fun though.
How’ve you come to like the game? Any review ?
@@jjsixtwofour I’m not DC Kelly, but the game is really fun. Absolutely worth a pick up and you can probably find it on sale I’d imagine. They just introduced a ranked play system which has been fun. Great community of course designers too!
QUESTION?
I am in the last course to win the entire season in 2k23 PGA Tour game and I am stuck in practice mode and cant figure out how to take it off so I can proceed??
Dude my swings are shit
Jesus I’ve been playing this game wrong for years. So helpful with the partials dude
How are you swinging when you let go of the stick? I have to push it right up with pressure for it to swing.
i still have no idea what I'm doing differently between slow and fast . it seems that I'm doing the same thing every time and it's just random.
THE NIPPLE THINGY WORKS!! 😂😂😂
Can you break down the swing on the controller a little more in detail. Kinda hard to see what you're doing.
Quick question, how do I turn off the power meter on the left ? I’ve been coming back to this video for the last 4 nights replaying it and practicing. Thanks for this
Just when I put the clubs away for retirement already, your video sucks me right back in. I hate and love you all at the same time. Great video man
when i've tried to not go all the way up with the right stick it either doesn't even swing or i swing super slow , the pinch method doesn't work for me
Thank you for these tips.
Anyways just a heads up
My opinion is they made the game too difficult to enjoy the game online or maybe I just suck 🤣
And your putting video for 2K21 works really well on 2K23 as well
Drive, putting and even chipping (!) I'm on top of. But I just can't my iron shots right.
Are you left or right handed Respawn?
Right handed. Which is why I use right stick to swing. Just works better for me.
@@MoreRespawn guessing this telegram thing is a scam?
All my swings are either fast or very slow, can't find the tempo in this game at all
Would you recommend pulling it back straight?
Very usefull, thank you. Always pulled the stick all the way to the housing in both directions. No wonder I almost never achieved a straight line. :)
Me too 🤯
Green side chips are all about the touch.
I switched to 3 click like a noob bc I’m so tired of ruining games..especially online duos… killing it for my teammate a lot
back to back perfect swings with ur preffered method, the nipple/pinch
Omg, these tips were amazing. Chomping at the bit right now to get on the course and practice what I just learned. Thank you!
Gonna have to let me know how you do!
Great tutorial thanks for this - going to watch some of your others :) subscribed
I am enjoying 3 click for now. I was getting frustrated but will try your techniques and see if it helps.
How's the 3 click working out? I've been trying but I was horrible at first I think I've gotten better
@@solidrockofjesuschristmini2423 Its pretty good. I like it better for me.
The swing temp makes 0 sense to me... 2k21 i was always striping the ball. This game i cannot hit anything.. Im always either insanely fast or super slow....
Thx so much bro new to the game and tried all the kinds of finger grips till I got perfect with the double side fingers 🙏
THank you, implemented the nipple grip and played an amazing round.
For me I feel I slight vibration on the thumb stick then I down swing it’s gets easier with practice
im finding it difficult to read the fairway and green.
I just played this on PS5. Same exact swing.
the intro statement got me to sub. "i like the way you talk." - Karl Childers
Man, I was swinging opposite. Short backswing and long downswing. Back to the range.
Thanks man! Helped a lot!
For chips I always add loft, seems to be more consistent for myself
This probably sounds stupid, but i wanted to thank you. After watching your video, i hit 3 eagles on my next full round just practicing the control techniques you went over. No shots into the rough. Thank you.
Doesn't sound stupid at all. Glad I could get you in a good spot with the game and its mechanics.
been playing these games for years and never have a problem. this new game my swing is terrible. it keeps saying my swing is fast when it clearly isnt. any help?
after 164 hours of play I cannot find any consistency in my swing😢,what fittings should rely on?Thanks
You do a great job and have an awesome attitude bud I appreciate the direct no fluff style. I am hitting much straighter now, thank you. On to the putt tutorial!
i really witch the devs would use the switch's motion capabilities to make a really interactive golf game.
I'm having trouble getting the ball to go straight even though my line is pretty straight. It's still hooking to the left every time
This is amazing. You do such an amazing job teaching this! I was about to give up but all these tips really helped. A lot more practice to go but I’m finally not nervous every time I address the ball. Thank you!!!
No matter what I do when I use an iron or a wedge it says I'm swinging too slow no matter what, unless I flick out super hard and then it's way too fast
i made it through lots of seasons, and all of a sudden something changed where i am hitting it low on all shots...short distance....over par every hole.....i cant figure out what changed....i hit it low off tee
after watching this video i was instantly better lol thanks man
As someone coming from playing a ton of 2k21 the swing timing is really pissing me off. I can rarely get my shot to not be fast or slow.
Am I trying to hit the grey, white, or red!???????????????? Where do I stop the top swing? On the grey, white, or red? This game is pissing me off.
Why are you holding your left thumb on the left joystick during your swing?
Is this a stupid question?
Swing calibration is broken on xbox. Ive tried everything. The game is ruined after calibrating.
Where is this driving/practice range for the PC?
How does time swing works?? I can´t hit the middle!!
Been practicing for nearly 2 hours and always seem to get the grey area in the fast area but if I change the pace even the slightest bit slower its then too slow
need a tutorial like this with a mouse cam
On partial shots, what you are saying makes sense. In real golf, you make a 11 O'Colcok, or 10 O;Clock swing, etc. Now, I am watching this even tho I play with a mouse. But i am here for the education Zane. nice video.
I use the 3 click method, I find it much more consistent.
I took my control freaks off and it helped immensely.
I have heard that as well from others.
How are you zooming in to preview where your ball will land? My camera just lifts slightly but does not zoom in
After you hit the ball, up on the d pad
