The Power BI drill-through feature is an easy way to provide a more detailed view of your data. Afterall, it's always good to be prepared when you're presenting your data. Power BI Drillthrough is super easy to implement. You just need the right start. In this video I'll show you how to set up drill through in Power BI desktop.
You can also add a button to click on to drill-through to the details. Remember, in Power BI Desktop you have to use control+click but in PowerBI service, you just need to click. A back image icon is also automatically added to your drillthrough page which then takes you back to your original page. You can have multiple drill-through pages as well. That's great if you want to add different views of the data or if you can't decide what your audience might want.

I love how you say "let me show you". This does take an effort to predict operations needs but overall I love this tutorial. I have not really used the drill through options in power bi but I have added links to details pages in a similar fashion. I think this method will improve my methodology. Hey Leila, thanks for the useful video. Can you please elaborate on how to undo the drilltrough-filters on the drillthrough-page? In your example, if you wanted to undo your store selection, you would have to do it by removing the filter in the visualizations-pane, right? Is there an option to do this more user-friendly via a button?

Hi Leila, I've been following your amazing work for some time now and it has been very important to me.
That said, and regarding this topic (drill through) I would like to ask a question:
I have found drill through examples only with charts, however I wonder if it applies to tables? i.e. I have a table of summaries (e.g. order forms) but I would like to see more details (the respective articles) by drilling through.

Great Explanation on Drill through Function.
I have a query,
Just by clicking on Pie chart/bar chart--It has to show corresponding detailed tabular information in another page(it has to perform Drill through function and navigates to different page by one click on bar)
instead of going with button option(or selecting bar->right click->drill through->selecting page) or without using Drill through selection page.

Hi Leila, quick question, if you have a complete accounting balance sheet and you want to drill through to show detail of an account, would that he possible? The drill through feature only gave me the current month movement and not the breakdown of the whole balance. Would I have to make a date table and use a time intelligence function? Thank you very much.

Super helpful!! One additional question. After watching your video, I made a drill through report to a page that shows me the underlying claim details for a given doctor. The claims detail are show in a matrix table, that has a date hierarchy of (year, month, day). When I do the drillthrough, the hierarchy is always collapsed, but I'd prefer to have the hierarchy always expanded when I drill through. Is this possible? Thanks!
Are you able to hide the drill through page on the desktop app and still go to it on the web version?

Excellent work, may I suggest that you add some transparency to your mouse pointer, as its sometime difficult to follow which button you clicked specially for visual impaired.

May I suggest making the data (xlsx & pibx files) of their respective Power BI videos available for download? Excellent videos, by the way.
In their initial state (before tips are applied), we could replicate your lessons and tips you kindly teach us in real-time.
Maybe in some xelplus repository, if it is not much trouble for the servers, you have 2 million subscribers, after all. CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Otherwise, we need to start all over, from finding or providing data to making visualization compatible with the features you teach us. In Excel, we can make a small table and go on, but in Power BI, with such a variety of data types, visualizations, and field types, it becomes a little harder to be prepared.

We usually do share the workbooks. However, for Power BI it's a rather large dataset. We share it together with all other working files inside the course. Thanks for the congrats! 😊
This is very effective technique but when you click on the visual the buttons hides. I even tried by bring to front option but still the same. Can you suggest the solution

I don't know how to connect pages in the newer version of powerBI
I wanted to add a button to cover your bar chart showing in your video, and make it as transparent and clickable. The idea is let users to click on one of the bars on the bar chart and go to the details page directly, but I failed, because once I select action for my button, it automatically becomes greyed and I cannot adjust its transparency. Do you have any solution for this?

Pivot, Pivot Charts, and Slicers. Easy to do in Excel.
Can you create a dash board such that it can drill through?
@@ntimikk slicers and other filters to get criteria, have a pivot tied and double click on numbers to drill down. Most of my reports do this and not a dashboard.

I am using a different version of power bi desktop, my visualization pane looks different and does have a "add drill through", how can I switch to this version of power bi?
