Garth has so many great songs. The Dance, Friends in low places, The Thunder Rolls, If Tomorrow never comes.....so many more! In the late 80's throughout the 90s, Garth's concerts outsold everyone Country and Rock. He played and sold out the biggest venues.
"The Dance" is one of those songs that everyone can relate to. The video hits me right in the feels especially when Keith Whitley is shown. His death was the first celebrity death I can recall.
Garth Brooks is the biggest country record selling artist of all time over 157 million records sold and second biggest in all music the Beatles being number one with 183 million. He surpassed Elvis in 2000 to take the second spot.
When I was married to my first wife we lived in Southwest Michigan and her mom lived in Ohio about an hour south of Dayton. We would travel there several times a year to visit, this would have been back in the early 2000s. There was an area we would pass through where there was a radio station that Garth Brooks had bought and it would play only his songs 24 hours a day. Every time we hit that area I would tune it in for as long as we were in range.
That song was featured in the movie Hope Floats starring Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick, Jr. Great movie to watch on your movie channel, if you haven’t seen it.
@@tiffanytosh1569so, crazy story about that. When Forrest Whitaker first invited him out to LA to watch the movie without the soundtrack, he asked Garth to play him a rendition of that song, and he recorded it for reference, then went and recorded it at Allentown, his studio in Nashville. He goes to the premiere, the song starts playing, and he realizes it's not the studio version. They put the raw version they recorded in Forrest Whitaker's office, in the movie!

#1 best selling country artist of all time! He "retired" at the peak of his popularity for about 13 years! His comeback tour was amazing! See him live! 🎉
He told folks up front that it wasn't a retirement, just a protracted break while he focused on raising his girls until they were old enough to not have to have constant parental supervision. He wanted them to grow up knowing "Daddy", not Superstar who is gone all the time. I admire him for that. You know how many millions he likely walked away from to be with his family? Not many people would be willing to do that. Shows strength of character whether you agree with his politics or not (I do, but not everyone does, especially hard-core rednecks)
@@TonyM1961 the labels HATED him for that. he told em all to go fuck emselves when they bitched and pissed and moaned and demanded he stay and ignore his family.
What a voice. Listen how he pumps out that Southern twang in his voice. You can definitely hear the pain and passion. I agree 💯, this is a 5 ⭐. What I love about rodeo, is it's purely American tradition and it is alive and well.
I've been lucky enough to see Garth in concert twice. Once at the small Wiltern Theater in LA at a private party for Capital Records at the beginning of his career and 2nd at the massive Pacific Amphitheater in Orange County. NO ONE can command a stage of any size like that man! From his softer hits like The Dance, to his standard hits like Friends in Low Places, and even of his cover of Billy Joel's You May Be Right (I May Be Crazy), he is a force to be reckoned with! If you ever get a chance to see him in concert, run, don't walk, to the ticket booth!
You really really should do We Shall Be Free. It is an amazing song that has a words we all need. If you can’t find a live version or one where he is singing, he did one with Seasame Street. It truly is a powerful message.
Okay, Randy Travis kept country music above water, in the 80s. In 1990, Garth Brooks took country music to a level that it had never seen before. He is the highest selling artist of all time, in domestic sales.
Some of the country artist's that saved and helped country to go beyond what it had been are : Randy Travis , George Strait , Alabama , Garth Brooks , Clint Black - to name just a few. For better or worse country is a different music then it had been.
Garth is the greatest concert entertainer of the last 30 years. If you do another reaction, try to find one of his live performances, especially for “Friends In Low Places”, “The Thunder Rolls”, Standing Outside the Fire” or “Ain’t Going Down (Til the Sun Comes Up)”. If you can’t find the live performance of Standing Outside the Fire, the original music video is very inspiring and will move you. Amber will get a bit choked up but it’s worth it! You won’t find very many of Garth’s official videos on UA-cam. He’s very protective of his music and the copyrights.
I grew up in a country music household and Garth Brooks was my mom's favorite in the 90s so I heard a lot of him. Brings me back to being a kid in my little rural hometown.
You gotta watch him live in concert. "Ain't Goin Down", he actually flies across the stadium on a wire up close to the people in the nosebleed section, while his band is jamming.
I think that Garth hands down is the greatest country singer. He’s got an insane amount of songs that are just amazing. Please check out “New way to fly” or “ if tomorrow never comes” so deep and so amazing!❤ BTW my brother was a bull rider. He got severely injured on one of his rides. The bull crushed his ribs, collarbone, sternum and half his face, also the bull picked him up by his eye with his horn and sliced his eye. He’s recovered quite well for all the injuries. Rodeos are not for the faint of heart. But it’s amazing to see the family aspect that comes along with these riders.
Was never a big country guy, but back in the 80's Garth could grab my attention. He had so many hits a many crossovers. He was everywhere at times. He also had a reputation as being a great person. He was never arrogant when you saw him on TV or during radio interviews. There were never bad rumors about him either.
@@Kiernan5 it really wasn't reported in that much until after the divorce. It was speculated upon somewhat, but it was never this spectacular splash of headlines. Garth, his ex and Trisha were always very adult about it and put the children first.
In the 1990's, Garth Brooks WAS country music. You could not turn on a country radio station and not hear a Garth Brooks song within the first 15 minutes of listening. His concerts still sell out and he is even better live than he is in the studio. My favorite part of Gath, though, is the fact that he is still quite humble and actually seems surprised that he sells out venue after venue. If you are able to find any live video of his performances, you should watch them, as he and his audiences have a great connection. Great reaction to this song. See if you can keep going down the Garth path.
The first Garth Brooks song I ever heard was "Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)". It's another Rodeo song about the wear and tear on your body riding bulls, but any person can relate to it. It's a great song and my favorite of his.
The live version of 'Standing Outside the Fire' is my favorite. The live version of 'Friends in Low Places' that has extra verse is fantastic too. Garth just rocks. So glad y'all are doing some country. Miranda Lambert totally rocks as well.
Yall have to experience what's called "The Class of '89". It was a group of artists that all hit the charts at the same time and were amazing. Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Clint Black, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Travis Tritt. Then you have artists that were already working before, or came just after. Kathy Mattea, Reba, Brooks and Dunn, Restless Heart... I would LOVE to see you do Troubadour by George Straight. It's a fantastic song.
I'm a metal/rock person but my best friend of 35 yrs. Was the only person who got me into Garth and country . don't know how she did it but she did. This is a really good album. ❤🤠
Some of GB’s musical inspiration came from non-country greats like Billy Joel, Dan Fogelberg, James Taylor and Elton John. His 1991 hit Shameless (which HAS TO BE next) was written by Billy Joel and it was Joel Inducted Brooks into the songwriters hall of fame. This is a deep, deep rabbit hole that is worth exploring! Forgot…GB graduated OSU! GO POKES!
Shameless is one of my favorite country songs, let alone Garth songs. I think you both would really appreciate that one. You haven’t even begun to get into Garth Brooks yet. Please keep ‘em coming!
I saw him in 96 in concert. Tickets were so hard to get. People waited all night to get them.. this was before internet. This was the best concert ever!!! He has so many good songs.
I believe you did the Dance mistakenly thinking it was Garth. No worries a lot of reactors have. If you can find a link to a live version or are lucky enough to find the official video (which is even more powerful) I highly recommend doing that. Even if it's not a reaction. If Tomorrow Never Comes and Thunder Rolls are among his most fantastic! Outside of Garth Martina Mcbride God's Will, Independence Day and Where Would You Be(live version at the CMA Awards). Blake Shelton's The Baby, God's Country, Old Red.
I listened to country for the first 16 years of my life and then fell in love with new wave, rock, and some pop and the many concerts that went with them. In the '90s I saw Garth in concert. I'm 56 and his was the best concert I have still ever seen!
Garth is simply a LEGEND!!! Only one act has sold more albums world wide than Garth Brooks, some group called the Beatles...170 million to 183 million...Garth is the only Artist to now have 9 Diamond selling albums. Here's the company; Those with 3+ Adele, Elton john, Katy Perry, Michael Jackson, Shania Twain, with 4 The Eagles, 5, Eminem, 6 Led Zeppelin, 7 The Beatles, Garth now at 9. Your OKie is the best individual selling artist of all time.
The Dance is my absolute favorite by Garth Brooks . I think of my parents who are both gone . My mom died first of a cancerous tumor on her brain stem it tore my dad up . He could have missed the pain of losing her but he would have missed The Dance which was their life together ❤️ . I cry every time I listen to that song.
The Dance is my life. From my BF in the marines during the gulf war. I was 22. My first love. This was the song we shared. We are obviously with different people. Have kids in the same schools. And enjoy our friendship. We weren’t the one for each other but we did have The dance.
Rodeo is one of my favorites as well as The Dance. Friends in Low Places and The Thunder Rolls MUST be watched in his live concert performance - then you get the extra THIRD verse in each song. Enjoy the rabbit hole.
I'm not a country fan. But Garth Brooks is one of the few country artist that I have in my collection. He's amazing. Please enjoy more of his songs. Ain't going down and Friends in low places are fun. Just to feel my love is a sweet love song and one of my favs.
Garth Brooks is AWESOME! I'm not a country girl but I used to walk to work in my twenties and listen to Garth Brooks Greatest Hits along the way. Great CD!
I think ya'll would like Dwight Yoakum!! He pretty much created the Bakersfield( CALIFORNIA) sound! His mentor Buck Owens was from there and became enamored with the people and culture enough to create a whole sound! Magnificent songwriter and actually actor as well! Lol i think you would like the song " Fast as you"!
This song gives me chills me about what rodeo entails and simultaneously makes me want to drop everything and go do it, LOL. Thank you for covering this one, hadn't heard it in years.
This was a version done by a tribute band. Garth gets blocked a lot on UA-cam so you really need to enjoy the real version on our own. Music and vocals are much deeper. Keep going - love your reactions!!
You should check out videos from his concerts, great performer. He get’s everyone to feel like he’s playing to them, very energetic all over the stage and into the audience
I worked on a ranch with my ex. During the off season he would rodeo. This song really hit home with me. I felt every bit of this song. I've been there. Every time he entered, I'd sit in the crowd scared to death he would exit in an ambulance... or worse, a body bag.
Back when Garth was really popular, my son was about 3yrs old and he knew all the words to all of Garth's songs (well he thought he did anyway lol) .. his favorite was "Shameless" but he would sing it out "I'm shaving!" LOL omg it was so cute ! Thanks for bringing back that memory =) Some of his best songs to me were "Shameless", "Friends in Low Places" and the Thunder Rolls.

"Ain't going down (till the sun comes up)" by Garth is one of my favorites to dance to.
I agree! It gets me moving. I wish I had someone to 2 step with.
Papa loved Mama, Friends In Low Places, and Thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks.
I absolutely love Garth Brooks! My favorite song of his is, The Thunder Rolls (extended version). Everything he does is awesome !!!!
Garth has a ton of great songs, Papa loves Mama, Callin Banton Rouge, shameless, Friends in Low places, Thunder rolls 3rd verse. The Dance
Okay, Randy Travis kept country music above water, in the 80s. In 1990, Garth Brooks took country music to a level that it had never seen before. He is the highest selling artist of all time, in domestic sales.
And it's sucked ever since. 😏
Some of the country artist's that saved and helped country to go beyond what it had been are : Randy Travis , George Strait , Alabama , Garth Brooks , Clint Black - to name just a few. For better or worse country is a different music then it had been.
@@johnpaulbacon8320 don't forget Alan Jackson and Travis Tritt 😀
@@cindy844 Couldn't forget about them. Just too many to list. :)
I know these videos are y’all discovering new music to you. But for me, this is a rediscovery. Man, keep this stuff up!
So true!
If they do "The Thunder Rolls" they NEED to listen to the whole song. Including, the final verse, which is NEVER played on the 📻.
I would add one caveat to the no bad rumors/great person reputation and that would be his very public affair with Trisha Yearwood.
Well, it wasn't a "very public" affair.
@Penny Anderson Why wasn't it? It was big news at the time that he was cheating on his wife with Trisha, everyone knew about it.
He has so many hits, it's ridiculous, and hs's SOOOOOO good live.
Yall just don't know, this man ruled 80s and 90s country so many great songs check him out!
I'm not a huge country fan, but Garth is a LEGEND! You should do a DEEP dive into his catalog -- it would take you a looooong time!
GO POKES!
Garth Brooks started me on my country music journey years back. Shout out to those cowgirls that do the circuit along side those cowboys.
Saw Garth in concert two years ago... tickets sold out in 10 minutes!
This man is brilliant and a true showman!!! ❤️
Shameless is one of my favorite country songs, let alone Garth songs. I think you both would really appreciate that one. You haven’t even begun to get into Garth Brooks yet. Please keep ‘em coming!
Garth is an absolute superstar. You really need to check out more of his songs.
I was 11 years old in 1991 and I got my first CD player and this Garth Brooks album. I played the heck out of it
I saw him in 96 in concert.
Outside of Garth
Martina Mcbride God's Will, Independence Day and Where Would You Be(live version at the CMA Awards).
Garth is amazing! Basically every song is a hit.
Jay, as a huge fan of the fiddle, you will love his song "Calling Baton Rouge"
Such a great song!❤❤❤❤❤oh glad you mentioned the football player! Prayers are powerful!❤
One of the best movies I think ever made was 8 Seconds. It’s about Lane Frost who was a Bull Rider.
OMG! I can’t believe you actually did a Garth Brooks song.
He's not known for being generous on YT
They did the dance by garth a few days ago
He really interacts with the people in his live shows. One of the best concerts I've ever been to.
One of the best to do it and still throws the best concerts. Need to do more Garth!!!!!!
Garth is unbelievable he has a huge catalog so many songs ballads and upbeat fun songs.
Garth is my man. Try The Dance. It's incredible!
They reacted to a cover of The Dance but not Garth Brook's version.
The Dance is my life. From my BF in the marines during the gulf war. I was 22. My first love. This was the song we shared. We are obviously with different people. Have kids in the same schools. And enjoy our friendship. We weren’t the one for each other but we did have The dance.
Another great one about rodeo is The Beaches Of Cheyenne, gives me chills.
LEGEND. Amazing live performer. I'm English and absolutely love this guy. Watch some of his concerts. You won't be disappointed.
Rodeo is one of my favorites as well as The Dance. Friends in Low Places and The Thunder Rolls MUST be watched in his live concert performance - then you get the extra THIRD verse in each song. Enjoy the rabbit hole.
Shameless is by far my favorite song by Garth. Well that and Unanswered prayers.
I'm not a country fan. But Garth Brooks is one of the few country artist that I have in my collection. He's amazing. Please enjoy more of his songs. Ain't going down and Friends in low places are fun. Just to feel my love is a sweet love song and one of my favs.
My dad was the MCA 1970's steerwrestling champion in Tulsa Oklahoma. Grew up with this culture. Love it.
Love Garth Brooks.
Friends in low places and thunder rolls 2 of garth greatest hits, pbr professional bull riders association would be a great event for you to see
Reba McEntire is from Oklahoma... React to "Whoever's In New England", "Somebody Should Leave", "Only In My Mind", and "The Great Divide", by her.😀❤
I LOVE early Reba. Her voice is amazing & those older country songs just have a different feel to them
This song gives me chills me about what rodeo entails and simultaneously makes me want to drop everything and go do it, LOL. Thank you for covering this one, hadn't heard it in years.
He has such energy at his concerts early in his career! Loved it❤❤❤❤❤
I saw him August of 2022. He still runs around the stage like he used to. Great show!!
This whole album is awesome!!
Love your reaction videos!!!
The Dance.... Lots of emotion in this song...
