I'm not sure what some here are fussing about, but everyone who has kept up with the news knows that the Higgs Boson was discovered. It exists and that it takes a huge amount of energy to make it 'visible'. The conclusion was that there is a large energy field around our universe and everything and it is that field that balances everything out.
Was anybody else reminded of Jodie Foster's Jane Aroway whenever the main female lead was talking? Also, the main male scientist reminded me of Jeff Goldblum.
Theoretical scientists are becoming more philosophical about the universe as it is far stranger and mysterious than they actually realize. If you watch this movie in it's entirety, the physicists elude to a supreme observer that 'carefully' constructs our reality (Higgs' God Particle) for us to have our collective experience. This is a brilliant movie. How ironic they open and end the documentary with Shiva;) Hari Krsna x
If you like this drama, you should like the real life drama currently unfolding at Focus Fusion. In the short run this could be much more important to the way we all live then anything going on at Cern.
Yeah, but what is the deal with that bit about 10 seconds in, with the center of the Milky Way in the background, and the galaxies zooming past in the foreground? Come on!
Multiverse, most certain. It'd be funny if we found that we are particles of a much more complex system. A single universe like ATP in Biology. A spark of energy. Then again anything is possible. Mind blowing and boggling.
***** Well at least we know the whining white boy arrived with your head up your ass as usual. Thank God for Indian scientist and their understanding of religion and science. Double kudos to Cern(Europe) working with the Indian scientist.
mrzack888 The fact that it's *possible* is not evidence. It's also possible that your entire life was secretly a TV show (like the Truman show movie). but you don't believe that, because there's no evidence.
Amazing expertise in creating the LHC and studying the results and totally amateurish lack of expertise in explaining it's mission and findings to the public. The discovery of the Higgs-Boson particle 'DOES NOT' explain the origin of everything. It didn't exist until slight after the origin.
Watching this documentary I could not help but notice the sheer panic when the first result was that the Higgs Boson had a mass of 140 GeV, supporting a multiverse, and destroying super symmetry. 2 professors were discussing how they could possibly have wasted 30 and 40 years of their lives. Then, conveniently, they got it down to 125 GeV, perfectly between SS and MM. I am very skeptical. I feel like the science world would do anything to preserve the foundation their world is built upon, and most of all, keep Einstein on his pedestal. I also enjoyed the part when the economist asked the theorist "Why? What is the economic gain after all this expense?" To which the theorist had no real answer, so they badly edited the scene so it appeared that the audience were applauding. All Higgs really did is re-name Tesla's ‘aether particles’ which, although accepted by every major physicist in the 18th century (e.g., Maxwell, Fitzgerald, Kelvin, Lorentz), became relegated to persona non-grata when Einstein stated that light could travel as particles rather than waves in their journey, say, from the sun to the earth. However, this has wrongly been concluded that Einstein did away with the so-called aether, but what he really did was say it was undetectable, which is a very different thing. You can call it the Higgs field if you want, but the aether is indeed the medium existing throughout all of space. "Let the future tell the truth, and evaluate each one according to his ... The present is theirs; the future, for which I have really worked, is mine" - Nikola Tesla
Erik Søndergaard Gimsing You aren't really qualified to be typing in English, but hey, at least you are trying. You really think I am going to sit and fill this box describing the properties of a wave function? Then go from the Bohr hydrogen model to the solution for what the electron energy levels gives as in the hydrogen Schrodinger equation? Brilliant.. Lithium and sodium are Hydrogen-like atoms so might be expected to exhibit similar energy levels, but a strong orbital dependence of the energy is found for the electrons of low angular momentum. When the wave-functions for electrons with different orbital quantum numbers are examined, it can be found that there is a different amount of penetration into the region occupied by the '1s electrons'. This penetration exposes them to more of the influence of the nucleus, which in turn, causes them to be more tightly bound, and lowers their associated energy states. Now, in the case of lithium, the 2s electron have more penetration inside the first Bohr radius and is therefore lower than the 2p. In the case of sodium with two filled shells, the 3s electron penetrates the inner shielding shells more than the 3p and is significantly lower in energy. In closing, you don't know me or my background, so don't assume. I have no idea what I said above that stung your tail so badly, but instead of asking distantly related questions, why not just question about what I wrote in the first place. My theory: You are most likely a PhD student trying to validate your years of mental sacrifice by asking me a question that relates to something you are studying at this very moment in hopes of sounding 'above and beyond' some lowly internet troglodyte. I have a masters education and I am a successful electronic engineer, I have since continued my studies in physics and math since my days of academic servitude, therefore I am not shallow enough to think I need a piece of paper with PhD written on it to deem myself worthy of any level of conversation. We are not in the 1700's anymore kiddo, so go throw your credentialism around somewhere else.
In short they are creating "contained" black holes that people now believe are creating parallel universes or alternate reality. Hence the Mandela Effect movement.
it accelerates subatomic particles to relativistic speeds, smashes them together and then analyses the even smaller particles that come out of the collisions
The USA pulled out of building their collider in 1993 because of lack of Political Will (Mostly Religious Lobby Groups) One of the US politicians argues that if the Europeans were going to discover something useful first then the US should let them because they could just steal the technology from them later anyway....which got me thinking Isn't that like all of us arguing that we shouldn't pay taxes because we'll get the benefits of all the infrastructure that it affords us anyway...? And so following this logic....Should we not have a global tax on scientific discovery? Research is expensive and if everyone benefits anyway then countries should automatically be taxed.
i truly appretiate we have this but the money spent by europenas are crazy. european armies are pathetic compared to russia and us and they build this instead of building/buying some crazy army shit technologies?
interesting doc, but the main thing I took away was that physicists, whether theoretical or experimental, have terrible hygiene and are megalomaniac assholes
You put blowing up the world at risk trying to find the roots of creation. How wise is this? WASTE. Use the money on the creation that is here. DisCERN.
Thats crazy that CENA invented the internet. He is intelligent and such a great wrestler and rapper as well.
WONDERFUL DOCUMENTARY!!! I FELT SO MUCH EMPATHY WITH THE PHYSICS STAFF EVEN IF I'VE NEVER LIKED PHYSICS.
Saw this film today. I had chills watching it. What an incredible achievement! And how much more we have to try and understand.
This documentary was fascinating and beautiful.
This was sheer, utter brilliance. Bravo. So glad I watched it. Hari Krishna x
This is a brilliant documentary ! Watch it !
So glad there is science.
Gravity *does not* exist
@@sexobscura and earth is flat

0x28 you should read genesis chapter one if you haven’t already.
Was anybody else reminded of Jodie Foster's Jane Aroway whenever the main female lead was talking? Also, the main male scientist reminded me of Jeff Goldblum.
seems like a bunch of young excited scientists who do not really realize what could be the bigger outcome of their experiments of colliding particles

The guy who giggles at 0:42 to be embarrassed at 0:43 goes down, way down, in history.
Such a good movie
I was expecting a Black mesa incident or the Mist. Damn
If you like this drama, you should like the real life drama currently unfolding at Focus Fusion. In the short run this could be much more important to the way we all live then anything going on at Cern.
I should now I studied particle colliders
Yeah, but what is the deal with that bit about 10 seconds in, with the center of the Milky Way in the background, and the galaxies zooming past in the foreground? Come on!
Great film!
I'm here just to read the comments.
The TROLLS in here are very entertaining, unfortunately.
VERY COOL Documentary by the way.
I appreciate that information, time to see the movie.
Wow thank you for the internet
The Higgs Boson in song ("Way Back Before Dirt"): www.reverbnation.com/rantcaster/song/19744575-way-back-before-dirt
Pick your side: Supersymmetry or Multiverse?
If we are part of the multiverse, we never going to know WTF is really going on. It's a never end story.
Multiverse, most certain. It'd be funny if we found that we are particles of a much more complex system. A single universe like ATP in Biology. A spark of energy. Then again anything is possible. Mind blowing and boggling.
Multiverse!! Ive learned to love the questions themselves.
Never ending multiverse never ending questions never ending answers!!
Multiverse... but only when you're not looking.
Im shocked. None of the first few comments mentioned we are playing God. Did the Christian's take a day off?
***** im here enjoying the video mate dont you worry about me :D
***** lets not make generalizations my friend its rather unfair and it makes it really hard for us theists who love physics
***** Well at least we know the whining white boy arrived with your head up your ass as usual. Thank God for Indian scientist and their understanding of religion and science. Double kudos to Cern(Europe) working with the Indian scientist.
lmfao!!!
the big bang is the dead end, we arnt going to find anything passed that
Science is cool and great. But I am here because Walter Murch.
i believe we live in a simulation. we are not real.
I am real. It's the only thing I'm sure of. If I were not real I would not be here to ponder my existence.
your belief is not supported by evidence
Azureus9999 yes it is. plenty of physicists have hypothesized that we live in a simulation.
mrzack888
That isn't evidence.
mrzack888 The fact that it's *possible* is not evidence. It's also possible that your entire life was secretly a TV show (like the Truman show movie). but you don't believe that, because there's no evidence.
I'm interested in seeing what has everyone acting like they have a new toy or new toy flavor candy and its for everyone in the world.
they are looking for something a outside your self. you already lost
The Flash is coming!
Anyone has a link to the full length movie??
Have you seen it yet? It’s on UA-cam.

Erik Søndergaard Gimsing What would that prove on here? Copy and paste is an internet warriors best friend.
Yes, I am incapable of copy and pasting. Your theory has been proven and a Nobel Prize is in the mail.

**Grabs popcorn**

I'm confused..what is it anyway?
+blitz krieg Are those numbers legit?

What was the the reason mass was created.

Yes it's called capitalism. When they begin making things which are valuable, they can then sell said things to others...

kaminoneh Its not a diss , it's true, i really did. And I am 38 actually.
kaminoneh no your not
kaminoneh stop lieing
Really are you not aware of the Mandela Effect?
EAGLE EMPIRE nope, what is it
boring!
um, DMT costs about 1 billionth of what this shit costs....
