- In this video, you'll learn about the general structure of amino acids, which include an amine group, a carboxylic acid group, and a unique side chain (R-group) attached to the alpha carbon. In addition, we'll explore where amino acids fit in terms of biological metabolism. By Tracy Kovach. . Created by Tracy Kim Kovach.

I don't understand what is the problem with these people her voice is fine
HAHAHHAHAHAHA
@@mhikeasielebico5240 Shut up you gummy bear.
Finally!! an organized video with simple clear explanation,,,, ohh god that feels good :D lol
Helpful video, but i'm confused about the transition of the amino acid structure to the fischer projection. I thought that since the H is on a dashed line, then it would be on the vertical line of the fischer projection not the horizontal line? Confused on how in general I'd be able to place all the substituents onto the projection.
Regarding the fischer projection, isn't the COOH (Carboxylic acid) supposed to be on the right side instead of on top? Since if we combine different amino acids from one another, the right most side should be the Carboxyl group and the left one should be the Amino group?
1.25 speed. Thank me later
I am sending "appreciations" your way x
1.5 speed better
Thank you
I downloaded a Firefox addon so that I can watch at x3 speed
Thank you!!! Lol
KhanAcademy, You guys always make great videos for biology. Really helpful for a Pre-Med Student. Thank you.
wow beautifully explained.. never understood amino acids soo clearly in my life.. thanks soo much
Thank you! I learned a lot from this video of yours. :D have a good day!
don't mind them mam. thanks for this information. i am a student. to be honest i love your voice
You are so great!
I get to hear you when I want to study science
It makes me focus
Thank you♡
Hey, shouldn’t the hydrogen be across from the r groups?
If u guys are here to simply learn then you can ignore how her voice sounds lol . I had the video on 1.5x speed and had no problem paying attention and learning the material. who cares what she sounds like ~
amazing handwriting
GoToHellHermen lol you noticed it too.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I don't understand why people are complaining about her voice, there is nothing wrong with it lol
Why is everyone being trash here?
Thank you for your works!
5:16 Chirality does not refer to optical activity. It refers to the fact that a chiral molecule cannot be superimposed upon its mirror image. Some chiral molecules have no detectable optical activity due to the nature of the substituents on the chiral center.
MolecularArts thank you. Its an odd inversion of assay for the mechanism... which she didnt describe at the time that she was discussing the basic molecular model. How many kids will go on confused by this...
At what pH are the amino acids in the NH2 and COOH form, as shown here?
You used a Fischer projection for determining whether a molecule is chiral or not. That would not be practical... You need to draw the wedges and dashes for it to make sense.
great video, thanks
Thank you, that was really easy to understand
Beautiful respect
Great explanation. thank you.
Her voice is lovely.🙂
OMG your voice is incredible 😍
Great video very helpful
So nice video thx!
Thanks 🙏
Thank you .
What is the significance of - R group
Nice one lecture
I'm here for Biology class
Porsche 911 is a track weapon, good choice
I do like your videos on this stuff... however, it is near impossible to follow your cursor.... it almost disappears into the coloured text when you are pointing things out. Can you make it more obvious next time please? This is the same in a number of videos that you narrate. Thanks.
Thank you : ]
I still have many doubts regarding amino acids
wait, aren't the aminal group and the carboxyl group opposite each other
Your favorite car is Porsche 911, that's enough for me to respect and love you
Just from your voice and flawless handwriting, I can tell you're little miss perfect irl ;)
3:03 DNA encodes 21 amino acids in most organisms. Selenocysteine is found in all major life forms except fungi and plants. There is even a 22nd amino acid, pyrrolysine, but that is quite rare -it was discovered in Methanosarcina barkeri.
if you just rotate the L amino acid, don't you get D form?
I'm sure you can figure that out yourself
Nope. The carboxyl and R group will just exchange places too.
Just like your hand, you can rotate the left one anyhow but it can never be the same as your right hand. That's a mirror image still.
Hope this helps:)
Are you telling me Cells at work is real? xD
Toyota AE86 Sprinter Trueno :)
why did you mention Takumi's car?
Bro it’s so small though.
its not the maths guy xd
press 3 for lols
Sing song 😂
Khan Academy, please re-make the videos with someone who doesn't have extreme vocal fry. This is impossible to listen to.
Porsche???? IM HERE TO LEARN ABOUT AAS just get to the point
word
I was so irritated with her voice!!!
Then i checked the comments , and understood that it's not only my issue!😂
Great video but her voice is about to drive me up a wall
Holy "vocal frying" ~ so bad for your vocal folds!
my favorite car is 458 Spider :D
ure voice is really croaky lol
+Theodore Apropos You sound like you know from experience...
+Theodore Apropos You're a perfect example of why parents should monitor their 12 year old on the Internet
That sluggish American accent and that small tiny drawings made me close that channel for ever!!!!!
Voice is simply too much. The search for knowledge must happen elsewhere
10mins with this voice that's makes me dizzy ,please change the way you give the lecture ,coz khanacademy put really good lectures ,and we need you to help us to understand ,so with this voice it not ganna work, thank you
I agree, sort of. I was so mesmerized by her voice that I don't remember anything about the amino acids. Hopefully, I learned it subliminally🙂 I love her voice.
Wheres the guy? You can't even explain girl
thank you!
Thanks!
