2021 Mercer University Elevator Pitch - Maëva Roquebert

Script: Hey! My name is Maëva Roquebert and I am going to present you an application called Match & Play. I am an athlete at Mercer University. I am actually in the tennis team. And my roommates are in the golf team. And every time we go and meet with football players, or basketball players, or baseball players, or lacrosse players, they always ask us if they can play tennis or golf with us, or because they want to try the sport, or because they play it for fun outside of their sport and they want to show us how they play. For example, I have never played lacrosse or softball in my life and I would love to try it. But I am not going to buy all the equipment to just to try it one time, and if I don’t like it, never play it again. It’s the same for golf and tennis. Golf clubs and tennis rackets are really expensive and most of the people don’t have them in their dorm. With my application Match & Play, people could learn new sports and make new friends all at the same time. You would pick a sport that you are good at, and a sport that you are trying to get better at. Then, you “match” with people that want the opposite, and they can coach you and you can coach them. You would pay a small monthly fee to be on the app, and if you have no sport that you would like to teach but you still want to learn one, then the monthly fee would be a little bit higher. Also, there would be a way that you can rate or give comments to your coach so other students can see it. Every equipment has to be brought by the “coach”, so if you teach baseball, you bring the bate, if you teach tennis, you bring the rackets, if you teach golf, you bring the clubs.
