Difference I noticed as a viewer was. In F1 24 there seemed a delay between you head movements and what was seen on screen. On iRacing it seemed instant, even over kerbs it's how you think it would look in real life.
I played F1 22 and 23 in VR quite a bit. It's possible to get it working fairly smoothly, but it takes a lot of tinkering with the settings. I assume F1 24 is the same, though I haven't played that game. EDIT: What you're describing as "compression" is definitely a result of TAA. Turning that off is a must in VR. iRacing is much easier to get working properly (although I had issues with the OpenVR mode, but OpenXR worked great; using a Vive Pro 2 here), and it's the only way I drive it (since I don't have triples). I don't use the virtual mirror, as relying on my actual mirrors gives me an even greater sense of immersion. You can use the "adjust graphics settings" black box to adjust the mirrors too (left/right and up/down), to give you the best view. I also play ACC in VR, but while it runs smoothly, that game requires a lot of tinkering to not be a blurry mess.
Modded Assetto Corsa with VRC cars is all I need personally for a VR experience like no other. Formula Alpha Beta is my current favorite open wheel car in all games.
damn me too, i was a 13 and can't afford any kind of setup that time, vr also haven't been a common thing in my country, so when i went inside a vr arcade because i got a coupon it was mind blowing
If you just want to jump in and drive a great F1 car I would say AMS2 is the best choice. If you want as much realism as possible the VRC Formula Car Mod for Assetto Corsa is the best. But it takes a lot of work to get it setup. It's not too bad if you know what you're doing with AC, but if you've never used modded AC it can be daunting.
Ams2, get some skin/ai packs for an authentic F1 experience across multiple generations. Of all the sims, Ams2 nails VR like no other. Iracing is pretty close though
agreed, I have the same problem with F1 and hate it. I'd love it if EA fixed F1 in vr but who knows when that'll happen, until them I'm not buying another F1 game:))
Hi Alex I was just wondering if you had heard or have had a problem when trying to save the F1 game on PC each time I try to play either F1 23 or F1 24 it keeps telling me that it is unable to save and to retry or cancel, I have looked online and cannot find any way of fixing this and I’ve also found that other people have had the same issue. I was wondering if you had any ideas on how to solve this problem many thanks
You have issue in your configuration in F1 24, i have the same OCUlus Quest 3 and 4090 and run smooth the details is amazing, there is a lot configuration in youtube for that, best regards from Chile
I'm running a 14700k and 4090 with the quest 3. iRacing is pretty much locked to 120fps and F1 24 was pretty solid but agree that it's not fantastic graphical quality. I'd question the stuttering that your getting us being cause by either core parking or other applications
It’s actually beyond comical how VR was added as a “feature” in F1 22, was broken the second it was put in and it hasn’t been touched since, it’s just there so they can say their game supports VR, it’s a joke
Ngl it is quite disorientating to look at it without vr to me(don't know if it will improve with it). And I was definitely getting quite dizzy. Anyways, question on your statement at 9:24 - obviously with a screen you get a lot and enough information to be really competitive, but do you see the room for VR to match the level of competitiveness (don't really know how to put it in a right way)?
Why not try AC and AMS2 F1 VR as well? F1 24 indeed has some weird high frequency stuttering all the time. Quite annoying, but you will get used to it after a while. Maybe lower some graphics to help the framerate, it's quite heavy in VR sadly.
You really should have solved your game settings before playing F1 24. Given my 6700xt can get about locked 90fps on higher resolution headset you should have no problem. One mandatory tweak for at least 23 is disabling TAA in settings file tho, otherwise it is too blurry always. 11:40 you can see reflections running at even lower framerate. Something very wrong. Pretty useless comparison given the issues.
I think it's a fair comparison of how the two games fare out of the box, without a ton of tweaking. iRacing does well, and the F1 games... don't. You have to mess with the settings to make F1 playable, which not everyone has the patience to do. iRacing mostly just works.
F1 VR has been a mess since it was first introduced. Essentially the game just isn't optimized for VR at all. You CAN get it running reasonably ok by heavily reducing the settings and the SteamVR resolution, but... yup, it's not good enough.
i swear ALL EA Sports games judder & stutter..theyve been getting away with it for decades I bought VR rig just for F1 racing..some flying..and UEVR mod..but mostly I need F1 VR now I bought EA F1 23..hopefully I can find a way to lower settings and reduce the stuttering effect AMS2 they say is best F1 but its mostly offline single player..iRacing is hardcore but I'll try it next
Alex. You should have tried proper f1 race track that is higher quality track with better textures in iracing. This track is old and low res. Very unfair and bad comparison ;)
Ooof! If you ever do something like this again (lets face it, VR is just cool). You have to do your best to not talk with your head (i.e less head gestures when talking). The image is stable for you, but for us, it is beyond disorientating.
Automobilista 2 - All generations F1 cars and tracks - Best VR experience for sure
Man if there only was a career mode😢 but i agree totally, the driving experience in AMS2 is on another level🎉
You should try beamng drive in vr as well to get the full crashing experience
Difference I noticed as a viewer was. In F1 24 there seemed a delay between you head movements and what was seen on screen. On iRacing it seemed instant, even over kerbs it's how you think it would look in real life.
You really need to try AMS2. Hands down the best VR experience out of the box.
AM2 is amazing in vr, I also only race Iracing in VR, I find I am faster with the sense of depth.

My first racing game in vr was project cars 2, I would suggest trying that one if you have it, theirs was great even back when I was on the quest 2.
damn me too, i was a 13 and can't afford any kind of setup that time, vr also haven't been a common thing in my country, so when i went inside a vr arcade because i got a coupon it was mind blowing

i got drunk last night and raced in VR for the first time, then this video shows up on my fyp while hungover
AMS2 is brilliant in VR
I think you should do this ad 2 player career 😆
Ams2 is the king
Alex can you acquire "big screen beyond" VR glasses.

Anybody know the specs he runs on his computer by chance?

When I saw your cockpit and the way you have your steering wheel, I thought you will be driving a school bus in Truck Simulator, not an F1 car 😅
Car on the left at 4:57 🚀
the new update makes the game stuttering without vr anyway so could just be that
Highly recommend a third-party strap for the quest 3. It made it actually wearable for more than 5 minutes. The strap it comes with is a joke.
I did get one for the Quest 2, but I feel like the default strap for the Quest 3 isn't too bad
Lmf is good in vr too

Senna's Mclaren in GT7 with the PS5 VR2 is a great experience imo
Why not try AC and AMS2 F1 VR as well?

I was able to get 81FPS In F1 24 before the last two patches but they've gacked it

My man asks the question which F1 game is best in VR and doesn’t try AMS2??
What about AC??

Yea I think next time I'd record the screen only, then we can stabilise it a bit in editing, because I agree it moves a bit too much
its just steam vr its bad optimised
