In this Episode we install a 3 inch thick Solo springer seat or saddle from VPW Australia, 2 inch hairpin or scissor springs and a modified eBay seat pan on the project XVS650

Genius! I got the same seat and drilled two holes towards the rear to mount but ran into the same problem with the seat annoyingly bending backwards when I accelerate. Thanks for showing me how to make it more stable. I’m going to grind the sides off on the front and mount the same steel tongue to go under the frame where the stock seat is held down

Just did this mod and have a tip based on a mistake I made. Be sure to position the base as far forward as possible leaving the minimum overhang on the cross brace in front of the springs. If there's too much overhang the base will bend as it's rather thin sheet metal. Luckily it's an easy fix to slide it all forward and drill two new holes.

So my question is does the bottom of the seat pan rub the spring under it since you cut the little tabs off the front?

@@iRidetas the bottom plate that sits on the frame, does it rub on the spring that is under it? The reason I ask is because it looks like the pan dips down and I didn’t know if it had enough clearance for the spring or if it rubbed.

What did you use to add the tongue at the front??? Have same base but going with shallower seat.. want to make sure the front stats solid.
