Ive been collecting mainly the 1920-1945 un peso’s 🙂 they are .720 silver and i just absolutely love the design of them lol but i do collect the others, im waiting on getting a 1960 10 pesos.
Up until the the early 1950's the standard of living for the average Mexican citizen was similar to that of the average US citizen. Inflation robbed the cucaracha!!! :)
That's a great score, as a child in the 70s living in Texas- I can remember picking up Mexican silver with my dad. I'm not near the border, but anyone who is should cross and connect with a MCS- Mexican Coin Shop...
The '57-67 peso coins are nice, they used to be cheap. Its hard to find them for a good price. Today on ebay they sell for $7 to $9 and Apmex charges $5, .051 ozs of silver times $27 is $1.33 silver value on them.
Yeah the un peso you want is 10 years older, same design (morelos) a lil smaller in circumference but %50 silver content you can pick em up about $5-6 in my area ive got a few tubes... now the ‘47-48 cinco peso is where its at bubba! They are a lil bit pricey however coming in at $35-40 but even though the one you featured is only %10 you can definitely hear that silver “ping” when you shuffle em!
I actually really like those 1 peso coins... They’re like pirate coin treasures! 👍 And they don’t have a ton of silver value, so I don’t worry too much about losing them lol. I also like the Balance Scale onzas. It is a huge coin, and is made of sterling silver, but it has 1 oz of actual silver weight.

There are .925 silver coins from Mexico, any 1993-1997 Diez,Veinte,Cincuenta pesos have a .925 silver center as well as 100 pesos coin

I love the looks of a clear tube filled with Mexican silver with edge lettering. Many of the Mexican coins show the percentage of silver they contain.
