Tiki Death Punch is created by Monica in Friends Season 1 Episode 4 aka "The One with George Stephanopoulos". In this episode Rachel's old rich friends from her rich days show up at the coffee shop she now works at to rub their richness in her no longer rich face and gloat over the spiraling abyss that is Rachel's now non-Mrs.Orthodontist life and it feels bad man. Rachel is so distraught over the whole thing she shows up at Monica and Phoebe's slumber party and drinks a whole blender of something called Tiki Death Punch. We never find out what's in it except that it's pink and made of rum, but I did a deep think about it and decided it was probably sherbet.
Also, I was never really a fan of Friend's when it was on TV. I was more into Frasier if I'm honest here. I watched this episode for the first time in like 20 years for research purposes and I need to point out just how repellant I find Ross to be. Like, he's so sociopathic and obnoxious, the fact that this person has "friends" does more to damage the show's suspension of disbelief that the outrageous apartments they all live in. Ross is horrible and I had to cut out a lot of things I said about him in this episode because they just went too far.

Fun fact, my sister works for a non-profit that deals with abuse victims and they cut the laugh track out of clips of Ross Geller to highlight common forms of emotional abuse in relationships.
Live audience. Everyone seems to think everything is prerecorded laughter for some reason. Seinfeld, Friends, Cheers, etc. all had the vast majority of episodes filmed before a live audience with their laughter used in the show.

A good indication is the first yellow bar on the video counter. It pinpoints when he stops pontificating and begins crafting. If it's more than 1/8th of the video, he's feeling his alcohol from the previous shot. Usually will be from 1/4 -to 1/2 of video used for monologue when he no longer qualifies as a Designated Driver.😁

@@MrKteach To be fair most sit-com characters are pretty awful people when you really start to think about it; we just often get tricked into liking them because they make us laugh. And it's also why It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is the best sitcom; because it fully embraces the fact that its main characters are all thoroughly unlikable scumbags.
Since Ross is the larger od the friends, why did he not simply eat the rest?
Hot take. Ross is the most fleshed at and well performed character on the show. The world is out to get him, but he makes it work.....hes also literally the only character (besides Rachel, kinda) that has a steady job. And definitely the only one with his shit together.
I’m not the biggest friends aficionado but isn’t it a bone of contention between them that Chandler, Ross, and Monica have steady well paying work while Phoebe, Rachel, and Joey are poor and always between jobs? I actually feel like Ross is extremely one dimensional, like most sitcom characters. At least Monica is a clean freak AND used to be fat (two whole dimensions, yay)

The sheer rage towards Ross was just a mood.
Ape hangers slightly over shoulder hight are actually SUPER comfort over long highway distances, though you do lose some low speed maneuverability. Anything too high though is just about looks and does get kinda uncomfortable
its sort of like making a tiki drink from the 60s as a novelty or throwback even if its too boozey and horrible.
As somone who rides a sport bike over long highway distances i can probably see why, low bars mean your core has to support your upper body to keep your weight off the bars which is what you want. Obviously at highway speed the wind helps a bit but it still gets tiring after 600 miles.
You can tell roughly how many episodes they're on by the redness in his cheeks

I absolutely loved this drink! We used coconut rum instead of 3-star (I left mine at my house a few hours away and didn’t want to buy a new bottle but I had coconut rum at my girlfriend’s house) and that made this SO good! Thanks Greg!

Never really a friends fan, but wasn't that the whole point that they were aholes? Like Seinfeld or always sunny in Philadelphia, totally horrible people.
I wouldn't mind having Chandler or Joey as a friend, although Joey can definitely get to be a bit much at times; Chandler can be an asshole, but he usually apologizes for it at some point if it was something really awful. Monica has too much of a "type A" personality for me to deal with, Rachel is the embodiment of all the stereotypes of THOSE GIRLS which I absolutely cannot stand, and Phoebe is lowkey psychopathic. Ross is a sociopath with tendencies towards actual psychopath, and just an all-around awful person.
@@travisrolison9646 The point wasn't just that they were assholes; rather, being an asshole was a highly prized attitude. Other shows like _Seinfeld_ or _It's Always Sunny_ would use comedy as a clever and ironic take on reprehensible attitudes and the despicable humans who enact them, I think.
I never got into Friends, but if I were a slightly older generation maybe I would have. Thing is, I got into Community, which takes that premise of "everybody in a friends group thinks they're all awesome but actually they're all co-dependent, flawed people" and dials it up to 11, and if I could find that semi-nihilistic "everyone actually sorta sucks" angle appealing I guess I could've liked Friends. From what I've seen of it, the only difference, really (apart from the obvious fact that Community is a way more smartly-written, layered show) is they obviously set you up for punchlines (hey, it's a sitcom) and the laugh track explicitly tells you where to laugh.
And really, there's a good psychological reason why we like these shows. When we see all these people being terrible, we laugh because we simultaneously relate to all the actual terrible people in our lives while being relieved we don't have to personally be there. It lets us laugh _at_ objectively terrible behaviour from the safety of behind a screen, because the alternative is having to actually deal with your insecure ex, your cousin's bitchy girlfriend, your friend's emotionally manipulative/abusive partner etc, and that's just not funny at all.

Hi, just a little recommendation. My favorite part about cocktails is the liquors. I like when you talk about them a bit.
Even if you just say “this is a Jamaican rum, it’s very funky, use a whatever funky run you have” or “this is an over proof rum, you can use any rum that burns your feet when you drink it” helps me understand what kind of cocktail your making.

thatissosf add a small amount of vinegar to preserve the syrup so it’ll last longer than a couple of days and be sure to refrigerate it also!

I too would like to know the answer to this. I just ordered a cocktail shaker set that has the strainer and a jigger. Do you recommend any easy recipes for beginners and do you have any suggestions on a starter kit of sorts? Also, any alcohol suggestions to keep on hand would be appreciated.
