I'm about to strip my K4 it has the same fault, now very confident of stripping it down, a very professional video all covered, well done, we have of course subscribed and many thanks. JD
Perfect timing - thanks for taking the time to create this video. My K4 won't power on and I tried the letting the water run through it method to remove the airlock but that didn't work. Going to give it a proper service now and hopefully that'll fix the issue.
No worries and thanks for commenting. Looking online at spare parts, it appears Karcher has since adapted this design to make it more reliable. Hope you get your pressure washer sorted.
I wanted to let you know, that thanks to your video my k4 works again. I had the same problem with my k4 compact and was about to bin it, then i thought F it i'll open her up and take a look. I couldn't find something obvious wrong with it and decided to look what i could find on youtube and there you were. Now that i greased it up the k4 works like new again. Thank you very much, although now i have no excuse for a K7 premium power.
Thank you for the taking the time to comment after watching this video, I’m glad it helped you fix your pressure washer. Although I’m with you…I too was just about to upgrade to a K7! 😂
Es la primera hidrolavadora que veo que en lugar de aceite lleva grasa en el carter, pareciera que tuvo una fuga de agua, se mezcló con el aceite y se convirtió en una pasta color cafe
karcher hd series One of the Best model and 520M /MH old model robust design, kranzle Best model,my experience i repaired lots. very good video use full.
Thanks for commenting. I've seen the Karcher Professional range but not had the experience of using one; I'd be interested to know how they differ from the Karcher Home and Garden range (colour and price aside!). Kranzle also look impressive but they look to be marketed and priced a level above Karcher. That said, I wouldn't mind if Kranzle sent me one to review and compare to my current Karcher K4!
So this just popped up in my feed while i was scrolling........yeah i didnt know this was a thing and about a year ago i had this problem, thought it was knackered so took it to the dump. £500 later my Nilfisk is doing well 😂
I didn’t know either until a user commented explaining what might be causing it - typical that a small plastic part is generally Karcher’s Achilles heel!
I believe silicone grease is basically silicone oil combined with a thickening agent. I used this because it’s safe to use on plastic and rubber parts. What was in mine looked more like grease than oil. Was the design of your K7 pressure switch the same as my K4? I think if you had oil in yours then replacing it with something similar was the right thing to do. My line of thought was that a thicker lubricant would hang around longer than an oily based alternative; however only time will tell! This part only moves when the tigger is engaged/released, so it isn’t moving anywhere near as much as the piston heads beneath it.

Awesome! Yes. Its that little white plunger piston that gets sticky for some reason.
Isn’t it ironic that whatever goes wrong on a Karcher is made of plastic! 😂

Helpful video! Pls leave a link on that “water proof silicon grease”. Thanks!
Thanks for watching and good point! I've included it in the description of the video.

Just wondering, when i serviced mine k7 it had oil in it instead of grease. Isnt it better to remove grease and use oil?
