Magnificent! I have PTSD and this kind of reminds me of feeling "stuck" in the muscle memory of trauma. Logically, we know we arent reliving the same thing over and over, but our bodies react as if we were from something as minor as a smell or word or a piece of clothing. Beautiful song!
Been thinking a lot lately about the ghosts of *places* - my childhood home that's been demolished, my grandparents' home that was also demolished and turned into condos, the building for a job I loved that got liquidated and taken over by a bargain retailer that has let the building completely deteriorate, the job I work at now that has a plaque in the lobby commemorating the hotel that burned to the ground on the spot a century ago. Thinking about how even landscapes change with time until even memories of what they used to be is gone. Thinking about how life is the inheritance of the living and how the ghosts of the past linger. What do we owe to the ones who came before us? "We used to live here/ And now we're gone"
This hits home and in the heart in strange ways. Separation and the feeling of a space being haunted by memories of loss is such an odd, intangible thing.
The house haunting the ghost instead of vice versa-- you've inverted the entire concept of haunting, and it works so well. Everything about this is exquisite. (And yeah, add me to the list of people who cried watching it)
@@grabble7605 I meant that the typical perspective is humans/a home being troubled by the presence of a ghost. The perspective in this song is of a ghost being troubled by the home where he lived his human life.
It's beautiful. Simply amazing. I can't wait to hear more from you. And hats off to Filippo! I love the production and the dancing. He makes one hell of a dancing ghost ❤️
WOW, this hits deep. The pace, the crescendo, the longing, the ~feels. Goosebumps all over. Amazing song, a proper banger as the kids would say. Love every single track you release, Dave! And the oldschool vampire movie style video is a masterpiece to itself 🖤
I spend weeks listening this song in the backroud and thinking "I dont know the original, but this is just better" and then i found out its an original. You guys are great artist!
This is beautiful, wonderful and totally gorgeous. Dave, your voice is totally beyond compare in this song and as a whole package it's amazing. The video didn't make me cry, like it did so many other people (which in itself is a wonder because I usually cry at the drop of a hat if a song gets me in that place - but it's not a bad thing by any means), I think I was too busy letting your vocals wash over me while I was taking in the beautiful and atmospheric video. Totally 100/100. Thank you.
Love this. I always try to listen to the originals of artists that I found through covers but rarely do I enjoy them and listen more than a minute. This one had me hooked instantly. Bravo!
Just found this channel after being recommended the "You're gonna go far kid" Offspring cover. Checked out a few of the other videos and knew I had to find the originals section and was definitely not disappointed. I know your cover videos will likely get far more views, but I really hope you continue to make more originals as well as these are fantastic. Bought the Campfire Tales on Bandcamp to show my support.
Fantastic! Feels like a past life memory. Drawning into the story happens so naturally... the music and your voice are so captivating... it is all so magnetic! Bravo! :)
I want to say that I really enjoyed the song, video, and production and still want to share a bit of constructive advice: Ilaria's gloves fell down during dancing in a single shot @2:22 and that may have impeded the intended dreamlike perfection (by a microscopic, pedantic percent). I am reading that as the intent, but may be wrong. I can imagine that real gloves, even period correct ones, tend to do that but a propmaster or costumer might consider using a mild adhesive such as wax, athletic stick spray, or a rubber band rolled up in the cuff during the shoot to correct this if it is a perceived flaw. People look at and follow specific things in video depending on visual texture and such. It might have become something I noticed because of the "handshale" prelude to the dance which focused on their forearms and then this scene puts her arms in the spotlight, again. I don't know if anyone else on planet earth would notice this continuity. Honestly this is in my heart the most minute observance. It is not an error or a flaw or a mistake or a fail or anything. Everything came together so well for the video. I know that a craftsperson is always on the lookout for ways to improve- be it the director, technician, or artist. I loved details like the grime on the keyboard, the grain and lens choices, and the lighting. I'm honestly wondering whether it was shot in daylight and toned or if you shot at night with creative lighting. Dave, you look very dashing in that cloak. So much care was taken in the video to match the pervasive care taken in the music.
Hi Patrick! First of all thank you for your advice! As the filmmaker and ghost of this video I’ve never noticed that but you’re right 😅🙏🏻 Actually the gloves were “historically wrong” because our dresses represents the 1840’s period and they should have been short at the wrist, but at the time of the video we didn’t know that. Unfortunately we didn’t have a propmaster (all the dirt on the piano was already there) plus we shot that part in a rush because it was late so we didn’t notice that they fell, our fault 😅 To answer your curiosity, the “haunted house” parts with Dave singing are shot at dawn while the part were he’s playing, at night with led lights. The dance parts were shot another day at night in a theatre 😊
Loved your covers, but your original songs are amazing! Two of the best new songs this year, in my opinion. Thank you so much for creating such beautiful pieces of art!
Well done, Dave, and everyone involved! A very enjoyable song. I always love hearing originals. Keep up the great work? Would you ever consider singing in Italian? I love learning songs in languages that aren't mine. ^_^
Je suis heureux de constater que vos compositions originales peuvent être aussi réussies que vos brillantes reprises inattendues. ;) Courage et persévérance à vous, vous avez du talent à revendre!
The song is out now on Spotify too! open.spotify.com/album/0d8fCipjimGnW5oyRlDogl

"We used to live here/ And now we're gone"
This is probably one of the best songs I have ever heard.
Filippo's a pretty good dancer!
This hits home and in the heart in strange ways. Separation and the feeling of a space being haunted by memories of loss is such an odd, intangible thing.
music genre: emotional damage
it's so cool tbh. it got right into heart with first words. Thank you!
I love the Waltzy groove of the ternary rhythm !
I have no words to describe how beautiful this song is ❤️
I agree, I love it!
For real man. His Vocal work gives me woodkid vibes and I mean that in the best possible way
That's a weird lie...
The house haunting the ghost instead of vice versa-- you've inverted the entire concept of haunting, and it works so well. Everything about this is exquisite.

He didn't invert anything. They're ghosts stuck in a house.

I love the macabre vibes I get from this song!
I swear your voice is made for the haunting sad gothic vibes - love this!!
As many have said. Tears.
The rise of the instrumentation throughout the video is absolutely fantastic.
It's so beautiful! 😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰🥰👻👻👻 And the place is very nice! Ilaria and Filippo just 😻😻😻
I'm always so proud of people start doing original songs. Something so fond in this one with its deep longing. You nailed it!
It's beautiful. Simply amazing. I can't wait to hear more from you.
And hats off to Filippo! I love the production and the dancing. He makes one hell of a dancing ghost ❤️
Just a comment of encouragement.
The view count on this wonderfull song is criminally low! Please, keep up the wonderfull work!
Honesty, that was just so gorgeous. The music, the visuals.
*Thank you* for this. :)
Hauntingly beautiful. Now I'm longing for my lover that doesn't exist.

I'm kinda madly in love with this song
I don’t think I have cried to a song like this once in my life and yet here I am
One of the rare videos on UA-cam that make me wish it was possible to like multiple times.
That was epic! The key your playing guitar in at 2:50 was absolutely brilliant. It fits the tone of the song so perfectly.
This is amazing!
These set pieces are straight out of a Resident Evil game. I love it.
Oh, and it's a great song, too! :D
Absolutely stunning! As much as I love your cover songs this surpasses them all.
Случайно нашла, и так же случайно полюбила. Восхитительное исполнение, мотив, видеоряд... Вы вдохновили меня, спасибо вам!

It'a great song.
An extented version with longer and deeper instrumental parts will be awesome. You can do a 7min version easily.
Loved your covers, but your original songs are amazing! Two of the best new songs this year, in my opinion. Thank you so much for creating such beautiful pieces of art!
Yeah that waltz feel is awesome.
Ooh, deep gothic goodness. Thank you so much for this!
