Epic, vintage, & gated Seelar hydraulic elevator at Baldwin Hall - Mercyhurst University in Erie PA

(📹 7/2024) Here is the oldest, 110% original elevator on the Mercyhurst University campus. I've been wanting to see this specific building for a while now as one of the staff members here tipped me off about this place. This is a completely original gated Seelar elevator at Baldwin Hall, which is the female freshman dormitory on the campus. It has GAL fixtures. I kinda wished it had the regular old black buttons, but the "pre-RBW" black halo buttons are still quite nice too. I was always wondering if this was going to be a piston pump hydro since my guess was they may have had something like a Rotary or whatever in here, but this just ends up having a generic dry power unit that sounds nice and quiet. I can't tell if this is fully single speed or if there are quick leveling stages. This definitely overshot the stopping on the third floor. I still have no clue why they needed to put keyswitches for the hall stations on this. Of course, one of my classmates from the CREATE program was panicking the entire time while I was riding this "death trap" (as you can tell)
Please note that this building isn't open to the public on this campus as they are strict with the visitor policies in the dorms. However, I was able to get in via a friend of mine who originally lived here last college year.

@@dmvelevatorsandmore Yeah, there's not much left i'm afraid, the oldest ones i've been on were a 70's Dover classic with the non ada panel (at least i think it's from the 70s), and a 70's Lexan.
