I never thought I'd ever see a Thy Catafalque reaction. They're so musically diverse it's hard to pin them down, every song will have something different going on. They even did a somewhat more folkish/traditional song such as Embersólyom. But even in this song, even during the more electronic interlude, you can hear elements of folk melodies in there. Hungarian folk is very unique, has a blend of more celtic/central european folk with some almost Turkish influence (which makes sense given histroy). Great stuff. (BTW if you want pure Hungarian folk/metal, check out Dalriada).
Molekuláris Gépezetek is a hungarian word, means Molecular Machines, and Im quite surprised, because I didnt know about this band, although Im hungarian myself. The vocals are also hungarian, and I could hear some hungarian folk influence.
@@martinjakab Thy Catafalque, especially later on, is full of folk melodies and the lyrics tend to have folk song rhymes and wordings in it too. Hallgasd meg pl. a "Kék ingem lobogó"-t vagy az "Embersólyom" számot :D
Thy Catafalque are a project by Tamás Kátai. He's currently based in Scotland but originally from Hungary. They are a very interesting band and I'd be more than happy to hear more reactions to them!
I’m just getting into this group. Discovered their new album this year and had a “what the heck is this” moment! It’s usually a lot to digest, so I’m taking my time.
Thy Catafalque are really great, I just discovered them this year with their newest album and work my way slowly back to through their discography. If you like a diverse band with some really short, poppy tunes, but also really LONG songs, check out the UK band Archive! They go from Pop to Trip Hop to Art Rock sometimes during one song lol.
That was quite a song, I really liked that. Been binging through a lot of your videos lately, love the stuff you do. Discovering new music together is very cool and seeing you highlight bands I love never fails to make me grin. As a composer I think you'll really appreciate Gazpacho - I've Been Walking (I & II). Phenomenal work from a severely underrated band.
You seem to be hitting all of my favorite bands lately. Try Sigh, a hard to classify Japanese metal band. Very different from album to album, but maybe Musica in Tempora Belli from Scenes in Hell would be a good place to start.
i found them last year and im in love with last 3 records, im really confused why someone would choose their old stuff over new, thet evolved so much and became so much better.
You should give another try, with Malmok Járnak. I think, it is Thy Catafalque at its best! More metalish, but still lots of different sounds etc. And you should check out the album Geometria. Kátai Tamás, the band himself, if a genius! ;)
I like how you were describing your confusion in the non-metal part, meaning that a loop-based electronica was mismatching with the jazz fusion elements, and then the whole thing is a journey that "doesn.t go anywhere"... I guess they make one feel unsatisfied, on the other hand, both are deeply grounded in the lyrics, which was, of course not the scope of your review.
You should react to Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks down. It has like 12 singers and many musicians. It's a great song and an album (The Source).
React to Koza Mostra - Lianochortaroudia . As a greek, im suggesting some good alternative music of our country, they are a ska / punk / rock band that often cover traditional songs and it has that greek vibe.
“intronaut - literal black cloud” A metal supergroup consistent with the best slugged metal musicians. I believe literal black cloud is a good start with them.
Like your comments , greetings from PT. Avantgarde Metal week??? where is Borknagar , Arcturus ...??? For sure any Arcturus song. For Borknagar First song latest album -thunderous
This is one of my favourite bands of all time, but this is definitely not one of their better songs IMO. Kék ingem lobogó, Trilobita, Mezolit, Esolampas, Neath Waters, Elo Leny, etc would be ones i'd recommend.
Have you listened to Nightwish's latest? I think the second disk "All The Works Of Nature Which Adorn The World" would be interesting to hear your analysis on. It's 31 minutes long.
You HAVE to do "A change of seasons" from Dream theater. I like your reactions a lot. You did Octavarium and Count of Tuscany, trust me this one is better, you'll love it
Thank you very much for this.
@Tamás Hi !!! Here is another one of a TC beautiful song

Okay I listened more, and theres literal hungarian folk in it.

@@qgloafhun Azóta hallgattam pár számot, szerintem egész jók, viszont a keverés minősége nem nyerte el a tetszésem.
Greetings from Hungary. Tamás is our national treasure.

I like the mix of musichal genres. And they take their time to develop the song. It's almost hypnotic at some parts.

or their track Scarlet Dream.
I'd recommend Imaginary Sonicscape as a starting point. It's (still) their best work, I think. In Somniphobia is pretty good, too.
This is another master of his craft. Rengeteg, (I think is the album after this one) has almost only "bangers". Very, very consistent.

I also like this one the most and wanted to suggest it. Just listened to it today like 5 times :D
Please do "A Forest of Stars - Drawing Down the Rain"
new album 'Vadak' came a month ago! also worth a listen! :)

Thanks so much for this video, always so fresh to see your thoughts on the more niche and obscure bands.

Just fyi the drums are programmed and this is a one person project band.
Said it once, will say it again - Diablo Swing Orchestra - Age of Vulture Culture please!
yes

It's like Café del Mar with metal. What's not to love?

OYEA THY CATAFALQUE thanks !!
I think it's time we get some Invent Animate or Erra reactions on this channel
Invent Animate - Monarch
Erra - Drift
you should try tigran hamasian, I would recommend drip at berkley or the grid

Yet another great reaction man!
Will you be reacting to more Alter Bridge soon?
I did Alter Bridge last week (or maybe the week before) and checked out Blackbird. That was a crazy powerful song about loss.
@@CriticalReactions indeed you did and your creation was awesome.
Just looking forward to more from them when possible 😉
Hey I made it through this one. I'll never replay it but I survived 😂
We'll all make it bro!
that drummer must have some hams for forearms
Reminds me of March of the Poozers
try blot by btbam
