True fan, still watching. Seems like the channel has changed a bit recently . Like to see you fix the Scorpion Crawler and wheel.
I was just thinking this. I haven't really watched that many videos from BJ because the content has changed so much. Plus I'm not really a fan of the new contributors.
I have to totally agree and haven’t been watching much lately either. What happen to Bleepin Rose? Seems the channel has changed but I’m sticking around to see if the gimmick stuff will stop and get back to builds and repairs like what made me follow in the first place.
@@thosegrays1 We have a few good builds heading up soon and we plan to continue with "How-to" stuff always👍
@@dobermanracing agreed, I will still watch a video if I can use info from it, but after the beach video I unsubbed
@@kylancook3477 yes, I couldn’t even make myself watch the entire thing. Hopefully it’ll come back around.
Awsome update. It’s good to see some of the “mundane” things. Every project has them and as you mentioned they eat up a lot of time. I think it makes your channel more relatable, which is something I’ve always appreciated.
This is one of my favorite builds ever, love it
Suggestion: behind the cab on the driver's side, install a holding bracket that carries a Hi Lift farm jack. It would be cool if you could cut out the bottom of a metal ammo box so that the jack would appear from the outside to fit into the ammo box.
Looks good, glad to see everything from the shop to the FC coming together. Keep up the great channel and progress.
That space between the cab and bed looks like a great spot to build a small cubby to store a high lift horizontally.
Hey Matt! 👋 Looks like you’ve been busier than a 1 legged man in a butt-kicking contest 😆 Thanks for the updates! Looking forward to seeing the final wrap up on the FC and the new shop! 👏
I owned one of those Cab over Jeeps in 1969. I was out hunting about 10 miles in off a very little used road, another 15 miles after that to home. It was snowing like crazy and it died.Problem was a stuck float in the carb as it had happened before. I had no tools ,ended up using a dime as a screwdriver. Took it apart , did a little adjusting all inside the cab which was relatively warm.
I wasn't for this vehicle, but now I am. This is frigging awesome, your doing a great job!
Just an idea - custom storage with the slide out setup for 4x4/off-road jack mont, between the driver side cab and the bed area. If need to you can always weld dedicate truck lift point on both side of truck. So far I like your project. Well done and thanks for sharing!
3:14 now that`s an ammo can. I was aviation ordnance USMC and we used the mini gun. We didn`t have ammo cans that big.
In my studies of the history of the infamous little Willy's jeep this is one of the numerous formats they configured it to be used.
awesome to see how bj has grown over the years. im excited to see what happens next!
Cool Build ! You could set it up like a prepper bug out FJ. Load it up n GO !
Cool idea for fuel tank. I would think about putting a pipe from the bottom of the boat tank w a ball valve so you can have a reserve. Or run a pipe thru to the cap and vent it into the tank.
Pipe the water back to the rad. Build a heater box and use an up to date heater core, mount it any where you want. Trans cable can be mounted steady and rods and pivots to operate this. My cabover international had this. Gas vent can be screened and vented to air or back to the engine. Gas cap depends on what pump is used, electric or mechanical. I'm sure you can figure out the gas pedal.
With the simple lines of your design you should go with a simple bumper, probably a 3-4 inch steel bar with some hollows with the winch hook plate in the center, hiding the winch motor in space inside under cabin
Aluminum electrical conduit works well for coolant lines. relatively cheap, easy to bend with a conduit bender and durable when ran underneath the vehicle. Just need a couple short pieces of hose for either end.
Thumb looks nice. Been there many times. Jeep is looking fantastic. I’d cruise it with a huge grin. As for the “gas can”, I’d use a Jerry can. Cut it down and shorten it just higher than the bedside. It would look more offroad than the boat tank.
The FC is looking really good. The shop is really nice also. It's so nice to have room to work.
FC is looking spectacular!! The person that gets that is going to be very fortunate👍
I remember the 1 finger shifting video w/Novak cable shifter, i bought one and did the gate mod.
1 finger shifting, just like the video
For the trans and transfer case: JB Fab out of Oregon does a slick twinstick cable shifter setup that I run in my dual case Cherokee... Use one for the trans and one for the 'case... It'd be clean with a single mounting point.
Don't put steal on the walls and ceiling until you've been in one and experience the noise level . As much metal work as you do it will be deafening .
5/8" OSB painter brite white would be my recommendation. It will be loud AF with metal panel liner in there.
Yes it will make your audio quality a challenge .
It's at $50 a sheet right now 😅
@@bleepinjeep Sheetrock with some stucco smeared on it , fireproof , cheap , high quality audio . :>)
Apply sound deadening material on all metal surfaces before covering it and it will eliminate most noise and it will stay cooler in the cab.
Vent will have to go to the top of the can. Otherwise you will lose all the fuel in the can. Floor mount throttle and brake peddles. Mini Heim joints and rods to the T-case and trans. Keeping in mind that the cab still needs to tilt. Use tube to finish the flairs.
That is a great looking Jeep. Never seen that model before you got one.
you can always add a linkage like a triangle shapes to lengthen youre shift cable you're T-case linkage.
The vintage Evinrude gas tank you eant to use is not self venting.
Look closely at the area where the fuel hose connects you will see the larger "pin" that simply aligns the fuel connector. The two very small pins get depressed when you attach the hose. One opens an internal valve that alows fuel to come out, the other vents the tank.
The long and short of it is you will need to ad a way to vent that tank.
Keep in mind that the two positions of the fill cap is to seal the tank when in use and and to vent the tank only when it is in storage. When the cap is in the first posision for storage it allows fuel vapor to escape as well as keep pressure from buiding up in the tank.
Hope this helps.
Looks good. Lots of hard work. Please just put a regular gas cap on the driver side of the bed, behind the rear fender.
Use six inch sch.40 well casing capped on both ends for bumpers, to give it the Hillbilly look ,also it would be cool and add to the patina of the jeep.
Great job your doing there and can’t wait to see the FC finished.
Wish I was in America so I could enter that competition.
Love your new work shop I’m sure we will see some awesome projects come out of there too.
Keep up the good work.
Cheers
Andrew from Melbourne Australia.
I'm definitely jealous of the shop lol
Me too👍
Last I knew, Novak is still making the cable TC shift linkages, but so is Savvy and they're almost identical. I put one on my '04 TJR and it was worth every cent.
Why not terminate the shift linkage where it is, make a bracket, and run a rod or short cable to the shifter to actuate it
I thought about it,, it's super tight in there.
Any video on this is a good day even if it’s something short just love seeing it
That void would great for your hi-lift and shovel
The vacuum doesn't know where the cap is except that it should be up as high as possible else to match the height of the fill. Look at an original fill cap and see how the factory vent relates to the fill. Maybe a mil spec Jerry can with the vent between the outer skin sitting in a pocket.
Put a false bottom and hinge boat gas tank to reveal proper cap and vent. All hidden by gas can.
You could also use the stainless steel exhaust tubing for a gas filler line down to the gas tank and run the filler neck out the side of the box and weld a filler cap fitting
on the end of the tube and for the vent run a small metal tube up to just below the fill cap and drill a hole in the filler tube and weld the small tube to the filler tube to vent.
I would X the gas can idea but that's just me I think it would look neater.
Used cable linkage for the transfer case and the throttle cable and casing
I would have installed the radiator between the bed and the cab.. just for convenience of the bed usage. And not worring about getting a hole in the radiator by chance or accidentally puncturing it. Food for thought 🤔
Theoretic idea of space betweem bed and cab... Storage space for a high lift jack perhaps???
It’s always the last ten to fifteen percent that takes the longest. It’s looking great and will be an awesome rig when finished.
I love this thing so much .. I'm hoping I can get one like it one of these days.
To solve your coolant line problem you could take weld - 22an ends on to The thermostat housing and the radiator and just use 90° or 45° fittings to make it easier and more low profile. There’s also a company out of Australia that makes retro fit an fittings For radiators and thermostat housing’s.
damn i wish i had that front 44 in my XJ. a stubby TJ bumper would look good on there, might be able to find a used one. no big crazy stinger on it though.
You mentioned in an earlier video that you were setting where the cab would sit front to rear by measuring the wheel openings and centering the axle in the opening. It looks like the front tire is actually several inches back from being centered. IMO this look detracts from an otherwise unique and neat build.
As for the shop I'm sure you are covering the fiberglass with drywall as it only works when it is covered on all six sides. Ceiling will be flat I'm sure. Sure like the welding you do a very fine weld.
Looking awesome! Definitely would say to keep the fuel fill point on the side. Maybe mount the boat tank where it is and have a pump to fill the main tank. Bumpers can be rectangular tubing. Keeping it simple but functional.
New bleepin shop looks great man! So excited for you to have a big shop you deserve it!
Thanks 😊
Lots of comments already on this video... but a thought on the front wheel fender flare idea. I like the idea of sort of matching the rear, but you might just keep in mind that getting in/out of those things is already sort of awkward. More so about getting out... having to watch out for a steel fender flare may be a pain the ass... literally!
Looking good on the FC Jeep! On the interior walls use OSB for interior walls instead of Sheet Rock then just paint it White! It will look great and take less time and money !
actually OSB is $50 a sheet right now and drywall is $11.
As for making the fuel can the gas fill. Instead of actually using it to hold fuel just run the fill tube through the can and connect to the can opening that way it looks like it’s what you put fuel in but it actually just goes straight to the regular tank
Then there could be a small reserve tank put inside of the gas can . Great idea is have a reserve.
@@jrforeman279 I was just thinking cause Matt said something about it building pressure. Yes a reserve is always a good idea I was just thinking of how to keep it from building pressure like a gas can does in the sun
Chicago radiator can build heater cores and custom radiators any size or thickness for any size motor. Check them out .great video love the FC. thanks for the video
Matt make the bumpers , for the radiator connections use some aluminium tubing run through and around frame then connect with silicon hose .
This thing is so awesome still trying to find out how to get in the drawing for it but as far as piping the radiator heavy wall exhaust pipe the hit it with bed liner to keep the outside from rusting and I love the gas can idea and glad to see the shop expansion keep up the good work and the geat videos
Ha the very last of the video you tell me lol
Haven’t seen one of those evinrude tanks for a long time.😂
How about just running a longer gas filler hose through the can without any gas actually remaining in the can and just mount of the top of the filler neck to the can with a gas cap
But everything is looking fantastic
it's also illegal to fill a gas can in the vehicle in some states so you wouldn't be able to get gas because you can't take the can out of the bed.
makes it real easy with the radiator if you use a dual pass radiator that has the inlet and outlet on the same end...but it's probably too late seeing as you already have a radiator installed....I put one of the two pass four core ones in the back of my 69 vw bug with a pontiac 389 in the front and it made things a lot easier to plumb...just a thought...fc is looking goooood
You should look into old cab over semi trucks for some inspiration in solving some of your problem areas with the throttle.
The roco building inspectors and the electrical inspector are pretty awesome ppl once you get to know them.... If can be annoying at times to keep everyone happy while also being able to continue using your shop
I think using the Hard Rock bumpers off of a late model JK Rubicon would look great if the width is correct and they're easily sourced. As far as the shifter I would use a B&M cable shifter they have cables of varying lengths and have both car and truck floor shift models. The void left by the radiator is a great place to mount the intercooler. 👀 Anyway, I've always loved the FC and I'm looking forward to the end results. Great build!
I would also use stainless steel tube to route the radiator hose from the rear mounted radiator to the front of the engine then couple with regular radiator hose.
If I were you I would keep it as my daily driver, back and forth to work. It looks real cool.
Have a look at a Land Rover 101 Forward Control for throttle solution I have one and the cable runs in a loop from peddle through centre engine cover to carbs at the rear of 3.5 V8...
I would use the ammo can that is too long. Just cut a section out of the middle to shorten the length to fit.
Make a pass thru drawer behind the cab
I wouldn’t try putting in the ammo can. I would try putting the radiator between the cab and bed and put the fans inside the bed. It will make the lines much easier to run. I like the lift it would be great with some 37’s.
For your extra long accelerator linkage, check out Matt and his Corvair stash. They have accelerator rods that traverse the distance from engine bay to foot pedal. As for Bumpers, make your own - they're simple pieces. Sit down w/ a piece of paper and design what you want. Keep it rollin'! Would love to have this as a DD. Spurs lots of conversation, like my Corvair, cause its so different.
Amazing work glad you are pulling this fan challenge off.👍
I'm looking forward to finally driving my FC home! You may end up having to put a cooling fan on the radiator. With no forward air to cool it...., you might need more than you think. It's all (shop, etc. ) looking awesome.
Don't hold your breath on the FC giveaway Chris, you'll be very disappointed as you watch me load it up on my deck over when my name is drawn. Look, I care about people's feelings and it's going to be heart breaking to see you let down...
I'll take y'all for a ride in my new FC before I drive back to my house
Use tailgate hinges for that side door, I would dump the filler neck out the side. The fuel tank as the fill point is fun but not really practical with the pressure requirements for the fuel system
Shop looks great, that will be a big help for future projects !
Turn into the new shop will be tight.
Matt, The FC looks good. The gas tank, if I understand what you are doing correctly, either needs a vented gas cap or a vent tube at the highest point. If you use a vented cap (vented only one way so as you use fuel in pulls air in from outside else you will eventually stall the fuel pump) that would mean that you do not need the tank vent tube that you pointed out in this video as long as the inlet from the upper tank goes to the highest point in the lower tank. The one way vented cap also prevents the loss of fuel in case of a roll over. Sorry if this is clear as mud but send me a message and I'll give you a hand with figuring it out. It should be pretty easy.
Clear as mud 😁
Great work so far bro. I have to say i hate where you put the radiator. But love all the rest bro. Keep going, I can’t wait to see its running and crawling.
Compare the square inches of the radiator face to the area the air flow has to go through (between radiator and side of the bed, top botton and sides) to see if there will be an airflow restriction.
It looks kinda clase to me.
coming together nicely. the brake set up came out nice.
Thanks! Now to figure out the gas pedal. You have a video on that??
@@bleepinjeep I used drive by wire so I didn't have to me with it.
Wow! You're an amazing fabricator
Just a question, you don’t want to build the radiator and gas filler so that it doesn’t interfere with cargo in the bed? With the radiator there in a mesh shroud, you’ll cook anything near it in the bed. The gas can idea might get blocked off you put anything like a rack over it.
awesome to see more on the FC build. Can't wait to see how it turns out in the end. Also, I am super jealous of your new shop tons more room to work. That's exactly what I need.
It's gonna fill up fast 🤪
1991 - 1995 Toyota MR2 are equipped with about 10ft radiator hoses. That could help or give you some ideas for the FC.
no they aren't 10FT hoses, there are pipes under the car in the center. this goes for most mid ship/ rear engine cars...
That radiator location concerns me.... not enough air flow - the bed seems to restrict it. Even if you put electric fans on it, you may have to put a grill/air slots on the outside to get enough cooling. Just a concern, I'm not an expert. ymmv.
No doubt going to need some air flow across the front of that radiator. Fans or not. Bottom of that radiator will be useless for heat exchanging. Top and sides will be really stained.
Love the work though. Want to see it all work out.
Ya, it's not finished 🤙
New looks great..
I’m a little late to the game but you can also use an early Ford style brake switch that just gets plumbed into the brake line.
Looking at the space between the seats and the engine/grill…would be a neat spot for a cool center console for a small drink frig/storage device like what full size trucks have for laptops/work space. Just a thought!! Also, let me know when you need a free hand!
I'd put a tight front bumper with hidden winch to avoid the fat lip look. It would be clean looking and give better approach angle for the front.
Stick the filler neck out the side. Already eating up bed space for no reason. Radiator looks like it might fit between the bed and cab. So only the fans would encroach the bed. Definitely needs lowered. That bed extension that matches the cab looks amazing. Sad we didn't get to see it come to life
Pretty tired of the shenanigans episodes. Good to see this update. Miss seeing Bleeping Rose
Agree 100% to both statements.
I suggest looking at old Volkswagen gas pedals. Its set up for the engine to the rear and is readily available for cheap. And it comes as an assembly.
Cool ill check that out.
You should run a big I beam down the center for heavy lifting!
Shop is looking good and the FC is amazing--I want it so badly.
Love that rig 😏 look up glade top trail and if you ever get to Missouri come wheel with us Mark Twain Mafia ....🚙
all that space....plenty of room for a turbo.
A gifted metal fabricator you are sir.
You got vision!
My body is ready
Awesome! Would love to get a FC150 on my channel one day, very few in South Africa tho.
Really appreciate the update! Great work!
Hey Matt... I subscribed! I would give left or right for that FC! lol I've been watching all of your videos. If I was a better welder, I would take a shot at it myself! Awesome stuff, good luck to you moving forward!
The evinrude tank probably won't feed fast enough, and it WILL leak . . .Why not put the filler neck out the side of the fender A La The MORRVair?
Love the gas can idea
