  • Chelsea's New manager shortlist has been revealed. With Chelsea looking for a young manager, I cannot help but believe the Chelsea sporting directors and Chelsea owners are missing the core fundamental issue that has surrounded our club for the past 12 months. Chelsea's inexperience on all levels of the footballing hierarchy have seen us struggle and hiring a manager lacking in experience will only exacerbate this issue further. Let me know your thoughts on Chelsea's new manager search in the comments below!

      There is nothing wrong with the options of managers available. Your problem is that your owner wants instant results and at the same time he says to you fans "be patient with me". He should show the same patience with the managers he appoints.

I love Reece, but if guy is on 250k a week and isn't able to play at least 3/4 of a season then sorry but it's time to move on. We either invest in medical staff to bring him back to full health or sell him if there's no chance for him to stay fit. It doesn't matter if it's Reece or any other player, if you have high wage then you must deliver results. Don't get me wrong, i don't support our transfer bussines and imho our board made tons of bad deals in last 2yrs. Selling Trev and Connor would be another two bad deals on their part

      I'm calling it now today 23.05.24 that when the new coach gets Chelsea into the top 4 next season- whoever it may be- the same hypocrites George Benson and Younes who were cursing the board and wanted Pochettino out will be so quick to say sorry they got it wrong and start praising the coach and stupid fans will be quick to follow suit. Pochettino only got top 6 because he was forced to change his style with THE SAME PLAYERS. If he had just concentrated on just coaching we would have made top 4 this season. We were only short by 5 points and 2 goals ahead of Villa. Why tell someone not to coach Chelsea. If the person listen to you he is a coward 😤 and don't like challenges.

    People are wanting the old regime back.
    In 2017/18, we finished outside of the top 4, almost 30 points behind Man City. Sacked the manager.
    In 2018/19, we scrapped top-4 in matchday 37, again finishing 25 points behind Man City. Sacked the manager.
    In 2019/20 we scrapped top 4 matchday 38 finishing 33 points behind Liverpool.
    In 2020/21 we scrapped top 4 matchday 38 because another team lost. We finished 19 points behind Man City. Sacked the manager in January. We did win the CL but that obviously papered over the cracks.
    In 2021/22 we secured top 4 in matchday 36, finishing 19 points behind Man City.
    In this time we played 6 domestic finals and we won 1 and lost 5.
    We had a squad assembled for and by 4+ different managers with WILDLY different principles of play. We had a MASSIVE wage budget that was way out of control.
    In short, we were about 25 points off the Premier League title for 5 consecutive seasons, we lost 5 of 6 domestic cup finals and had a squad incapable of dominating

    • @Skutnu
      @Skutnu 4 місяці тому +1

      Completely missed the part where we won the CL and had a transfer ban in the middle too? Our standards under him was directly linked to his cheque book.

    • @pochluak7555
      @pochluak7555 4 місяці тому

      @Skutnu That champions league win papered over a lot of cracks, it would've been different if we won the CL whilst challenging for the league also but we weren't. Tuchels brilliance got us that CL. Roman injecting money into the club wasn't a sustainable model, no other top club in world football relied on their owner to bail them out because its risky.

    • @Skutnu
      @Skutnu 4 місяці тому +1

      @@pochluak7555 We won the CL in dominating fashion tbh, it's not like we had a crap squad. I agree about romans cheque book, that's why the standards were Romans standards, us being in the top 4 playing CL every season, winning it on the odd occasion, and winning smaller cups here and there is Romans standards. Nothing to do with papering over the cracks. For some reason, we have kept those standards, the standards that relied on romans cheque book into this new ownership. Full domination like we had in the mid 2000s was not possible like City are doing rn, so to think we were failing near the end of Roman's reign is crazy. First time we have gone 2 seasons without a trophy in 20 years? Roman left the club in a good state, wiped of all our debt to him, wiped all losses.

      Ultimately this project is far more ambitious than under Roman. It was always going to get worse before it got better.
      As Jacob Steinberg said, IF we can pull it off, we are going to be one of the best teams in the world and likely for a very long period of time.
      Would you rather win a carabao/ FA cup now or win back to back leagues and consistently get into semi of the CL. People aren't realising that man city have overtaken us in so many aspects when we had the foundation set by Abrahamovic to be doing what they're doing but we were letting each manager have power over transfers before Sacking them a year into their contract, leading to a messy looking squad. I would rather have the scouts assemble the squad and the coach get the best out of them, just look at utd, they gave ten hag all that power over transfers and he'll probably leave and players like Antony won't be favoured by the next coach.
      We have signed Cole Palmer, Caicedo, Nkunku, Malo Gusto, Kendry Paez, Estevao Willian, Carney Chukwuemeka, Andrey Santos etc. We were also close to signing Endrick.
      Our scouting of young players and our hit rate on signings are significantly higher than under the previous regime.
      I understand people don't agree with the project at present and they've made some bad decisions (selling Gallagher and Chalobah would be the worst) but we're more likely to be a dominant team again with this ownership than if we'd stayed under Roman

    At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter who they appoint as head coach and how that role works. If Chelsea win games then all is good. As much as it is fair to criticise these potential hires, if they come in and get this team playing well and winning then their name doesn't matter. Just because you don't have the CV doesn't mean you won't be successful. Pep was Barcelona B team coach for only 1 year before taking over Barcelona and leading them to a treble, Hansi Flick had only ever been an assistant coach before taking over Bayern mid-season and winning 6 trophies in a year. Not saying that our options are going to be the next superstar manager but experience isn't as important as getting your ideas across and getting buy-in from the squad
    I think that if the squad is talented enough and they have a clear tactical plan and the motivation to play at their best then they will be a competitive team. I do really rate Chelsea's squad and they have started to build their chemistry within the group so it is a good squad for any manager to inherit

      These guys are judging this issue based on their recency bias. This was the same Poch that started the season by abandoning everything he did in the preseason that worked well and then reverted to playing Cowill as left back and Chillwell as a winger and even as we were losing matches he continued doing so. The reason why we had more injuries than every other team was also down to Poch's training methods.
      I can't all of a sudden think that Poch is the best thing since sliced bread.

We also conceded a record number of goals and, even in our good run, we were scraping by the likes of Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth and relying on collapses from Utd and Newcastle. I don't dislike the guy and I'll give him credit for what he did achieve, but it was never a good match (similar I would say to Benitez) and both parties probably got the most they were likely to get out of the relationship - so this was probably the right outcome.

    when arteta joined arsenal, he didn't have years of experience. now everyone is raving of how brilliant a decision it was to hire him. Football isn't the same as it was when Abramovic took over, there are FFP, PSR considerations. Lawyers, accountants, agents have more power in football than ever before. Poch was demanding that Chelsea cripple their ability to buy anyone and agree to top money for a new Gallagher deal. If we sell Gallagher to fund an Osihmen deal, (Gallagher £50m pure profit, £100m Osimhen amortised over 5 years) we'll be a much stronger squad. Get sterling, lukaku, kepa, and others wages off the squad and we'll have space for a new GK and CDM/CB. We'll need to sell Hall, Chabolah, Broja, Gallagher, Maasten and some other academy players to afford it, that's just the rules of the league (stupid as they may be, we can't change them).
    2 months ago everyone was saying sack Poch, I've never heard of other Chelsea fans being pleased with Poch as manager. We've questioned his tactics, criticised his training that led to injuries and botched the final vs liverpool. Let's give a new guy a chance, even if he's not coming in with the reputation of Pep or Klopp, he just needs to train the players well and have a good system. I'm hoping for Enzo Maresca so we play some possession based football, we've got the players to do that

      Poch was asking to keep Gallagher, one of our better players last season. He finished 6th, a massive improvement from the previous season, and found good form 2nd half of last season, and in the last 5 games found an identity. Improved a number of our players too. Our crippling financial situation is because of the stupid £1bill + wages of amortised costs we have split up over multiple seasons, that we have to hit, there was no need for that. Now instead of building a new identity, by trying to keep the one rock in our squad for next season, so the manager can stay on and we can see some major progress next season, the owners are getting rid of a proven PL manager for a championship manager, and looking to break up the harmony of the squad, and spend more ridiculous money so we can sell more stable team members and promising youth players to meet p&s every season? This makes no sense, and is shaping us up to be a slightly bigger version of Brighton.
      The next manager will be sacked earlier, no way is he going in with a new playing philosophy and culture, getting the players on board so we can finish top 4. Especially, as it's looking to be a Championship manager. The disrespect for Poch's work is crazy and only shows the level of plastic in this fanbase, who think we should be top 4 and winning a trophy every season because that's our standards...completely forgetting the fact that our standards were directly linked to Romans cheque book. Clearlake still think that's Chelsea standards, and will go and spend big again to amortise the cost over multiple season on the gamble that a championship manager will get us top 4 🤣 What a joke the level of patience from this fanbase and owners is turning this club into a banter club.
      Also, 2 months ago, I barely heard anyone at Stamford Bridge calling for Poch to be sacked. Heard a few boos at half time, that's it. That noise was coming from the online plastic fans. Also, Enzo had a period where the Leicester fans at the ground were calling for him to be sacked, because he let go of a 17 point lead. Don't forget Leicester had the highest wages in Championship history too. He's an average manager.

    • @Golden-Joãoer

      Losing Gallagher isn’t going to ruin Chelsea, he’s not the level of player that we should break our wage structure to keep. People are talking like he is at the level of Lampard, Terry, Cech, Cole… He’s good and preferably he’d be an important squad option, should he accept a squad option salary. Ideally we’d bring in players that would put Gallagher on the bench.
      Did you hear any support of Poch? I doubt it. Name a time we cheered for him, or he embraced the fans at all. The feeling of indifference was mutual. Let’s get rid and start building with a guy that at the very least, wouldn’t prefer to be the manager of spurs

      arteta at least knew Arsenal and worked with Pep for a considerable amount of time (meresca was with the development squad at city for a year not actually with Pep). none of these people are worthy of the chelsea job. poch turnt it around and wasnt completely hes fault we had on average across the season 10+ injuries. from 12th to 6th is good. 1 loss in 15 games. 4th most points in 2024.
      if you want to play possession football show a little ambition go for a amorim or a alonso, flick etc , they want a yes man. actually look at the stats we were possession-based anyway. I understand your want for Osimhen but Gallagher and Chalobah deserve a contract more than Osimhen. plus Jackson whilst i believe has had incredibly poor moments, he was improving. dont spend another £100m on a player get Guirassy (£15m release clause)or Sesko (£55m). That way it doesn't block jackson development plus you have another striker competing and lifting the pressure off him.
      the rules are changing regarding ffp and psr next season so try as hard as you can to get maatsen, hall, lukaku and few others of the wage bill but not the players an incredibly expierence manager says he likes and want to keep.

    I’m not sure we all understand the conversations going on in the building. I’m also not thrilled with the decision, but I’m not 100% against the idea that Poch wasn’t the guy.
    I think Poch determined he was older and wiser than the directors, so he was going to do it his way. Sadly, I think Poch may have agreed to the project before coming in, then reverted back to what he knows and what he believes in.. which is not the vision the directors had when purchasing the players they did.
    Poch is a disciple of Marcelo Bielsa. Not sure if anyone recalls watching Bielsa’s teams, but controlled, possession football is not what immediately comes to mind. So Poch reverted to what he believes in when his limited ideas behind possession football weren’t working. We all remember him playing Colwill and Chilly out of position during this phase - it’s like he was trying to copy Pep without understanding what that required. It also limited the possibility of seeing a player like Maatsen in his best position.
    I think what we did gain this year, was the players learning each other. If they can get a manager who is truly aligned with the vision, I think it could still be a good season. Just need to get him in early and let him start building a relationship with the boys.
    I do want a club with a collective vision. I want player profiles to be considered. Unfortunately, Bielsa style football in the modern age hasn’t resulted in nearly the amount of hardware as teams who can control the game. So, there is something to be said for the club having a vision and they aren’t going to throw it out because Poch decided he wants to do it his way now.

They’ll finialise decisions but it’s not Todd saying I want him, I want him. So we can’t blame these ‘billionaires’ on poor transfers/form. Also the reason we have sporting directors and this structure is so that we don’t constantly have managers with different philosophies coming in year after year with their own player requirements. FFP is the biggest reason for this. There has to be order and by having the club make transfers the manager has to fit in and find a way to make them work. These are the conversations that will be had in the interviewing process. If the manager then decides to throw their toys out of the pram and demand transfers, they make their own bed.

    I have worked on Wall Street as an investment manager. The club is no longer worth what the owners paid for it. They have destroyed its financial value. They should have bought Brighton or Everton, it would have been cheaper. You don't buy an elite club and tear it apart, it makes no business sense. It makes Clearlake look ridiculous and damages their credibility as serious investors. Warren Buffett would not be supervising training sessions at Chobham. Clearlake will get bored and move on if the club doesn't meet their investment targets. If they don't make the top 4 next season they might cut their losses and sell up. Should we want Chelsea to fail to help get rid of them? There is a question to be asked about who picked these Americans and what was asked about how they intended to run the club. Danny Finkelstein is on the board. He was an adviser to Cameron and was given a title by Dave, he had contacts within the government which must have helped.

At Chelsea he won't be in such a dominant position like he was with Leicester in the Championship and certainly won't be coming into the most expensive assembled title winning squad like Pep did when he came to City and then went on to spend another £400mill on top to make Pep's way the successful way 😂 I think we are 5th or 6th in terms of wage bill in the PL, so he won't have that advantage too. The level of competition he will have in the PL won't be the same he had with Leicester. That was still a PL team, with PL wages playing in the championship. Downgrade.

    The muppet Egbali doesn’t seem to understand that top level Premier League footballers won’t bake advice nor listen to a coach from a lower league or small club.

    It was a mistake to let "Poch" go. But come on. Everybody is blowing it way out of proportion. Chelsea Football Club will be fine. It will likely take a little time to get, where we want to be. But we will be fine.

    How sad would it be if we take McKenna and Ipswich finishes above Chelsea. We'll fight relegation for the near future.
