I went in blind on your recommendation. I watched it with my wife and mother of our infant. She almost took MY head off. I can never go into a movie blind again. A little advisory would've been helpful.

I watched it after your recommendation on FNT. I really liked it. It was very well made. The narrative was well told and I thought the characters acted realistically given the circumstances. It is horrifying but the drama pulled me in and, despite the crushingly sad ending, I also found myself laughing in places... somewhat nervously.
What I find most interesting are those commenters who were so affected and repulsed by it. I do get it, it's an extreme situation, but I certainly wouldn't class this in the leagues of Salo, A Serbian Movie or Martyrs.
This film rules! Loved it.
I watched it and my anxiety level was at 112%. LOVED IT! I'm not going to spoil it. I just hope the subtitles don't deter people. I know subtitles are annoying, but the acting is sooooo good, you know what's happening without reading.
Frank Gore is back and crazier than ever !
Good call, Chris. Hitchcock + Mamet + Tarantino. I would believe this was originally a small theater production.
It's definitely a film I will never forget. Not sure I would sell it the way you have here, though.
Its a horror movie. What happens is pretty horrifying. It was sold pretty "on the nose" IMHO.

Chris is the reason I watched "RRR" and he is the reason I went to the theatre to see "Godzilla Minus One". I will definitely see this film.

Okay, I watched it. What Chris didn't share was it was the most disturbing, retching film I've ever seen. As far as a category call this drama-horror. Definitely a one-and-done.

@@FrawgfithAmblose I don't know about you but as the story unfolded I was horrified and wish I knew it would be horrifying or at least disturbing. I wasn't in the mood for either. But it did do something unique, I'll give'm that.
Now we need a follow-up video showing Alan's face after watching the movie.

One of the most deeply cruel and uncomfortable films I have ever seen. I watched it with my hands clasped over my mouth in horror and occasionally groaned in despair.
Its a horror movie, in which something horrible happens. What did you expect? It isn't gratuitous and doesn't even really show the horrible thing when it happens. Its all about the aftermath and "Oh shit, what do we do now about this horrible thing?". Noone is really bad, or evil, or The Villain, some shit just happens that could happen to anyone. Its called "dramatic tension" and this movie pulls it off magnificently.

@@FrawgfithAmblose The characters are NOT inept, they behave pretty logically, given the initial "circumstances". Maybe you don't understand how human behaviour works (people who are in shock and things like that)?
Also, stop cutting and pasting the same comment over and over, it makes YOU look inept.

Saw this in theaters!
This movie takes disturbing dark comedy to whole new level.
Saw it. The acting and drama were great but the movie dragged a bit at times, had some surreal moments that I didn't like and there's no way a coffee table would do THAT to a baby. Still, one of the better movies of the last few years, kept me engaged until the very end, overall I'd give it an 8/10.
Chris Gore enthusiasm sold me and I gave it a try. It was quite a ride, felt many different ways about the experience but this is indeed quality with little to work with.
Once the ride is over, the impression was strong enough to have a couple questions pop; I'd say I like it.

Yes, and the characters are NOT stupid, and everyone behaves in a believable way. The wife is kind of annoying, though.

What if I don't really like horror films. I also don't really like jumpscare movies either. Is this one you still recommend watching?
There are NO jumpscares in this movie. It is pretty horrifying, so if that kind of thing bothers you a lot, I would stay away from it.

Wow, what a nightmare. I was intrigued by it, but don’t know how I can recommend it to anyone. I might try anyway. Very intense movie.
If A Serbian Film is your kind of Netflix and chill evening, then go for it. I would recommend NOBODY watch this. Our brains don't need any more unpleasantness.

Based solely on this "review," I convinced a friend of mine who lost a baby a few years ago to watch this with me.
Yeah. So... completely blindsided. I turned it off about a half hour in, and apologized profusely.
May Chris find himself taking a long walk off a short pier.
Wow yeah that's crazy. I'm not a fan of "trigger warnings" in general bc it's so over done but damn in this case it would be warranted!!
I'll defend Chris so far as he was giving his opinion and passing the baton to us based on how he experienced it. Taking him at his intentions, it is much appreciated, as I agree that it's technically well-made (just my opinion). However, I think he could've described it as "shocking" or "devastating" or some kind of disclaimer, and it wouldn't have spoiled the experience and probably would've spared you yours.

Since the actual physics of the accident makes no sense at all, it took me right out of the movie from the get go. My humble opinion, save your money.
It fits my tolerance zone, where I can sometimes suspend my disbelief and enjoy it. It doesn't always work out like that, but I get it.
Spare yourself this ugly, unpleasant film and watch Last Stop in Yuma County. That movie IS MY favorite indie movie of the year. Hell, the last five years.

This movie is neither ugly, nor unpleasant. It is fascinating to watch a bunch of characters reacting in a believable way to something happening that is horrifying. Plus, there are no "bad guys" in this movie - even the "protagonist" is not really evil or anything.
That movie blows too lol they literally just kept the green pinto car parked outside of the diner even though they knew there was an apb announced on their specific car, it is so bad

Bro I just saw it and no way can you just straight up recommend this movie without a warning. At LEAST mention the genre.

If you cant handle "Antichrist"... probably avoid this.
If you can't handle The Mist or Hereditary, then don't watch this. If you can handle it then watch Dear Zachary.
Totally oversold. This isnt a horror film. Its a kitchen sink drama where something horrible happens that makes you feel sick and just drags it out for what feels like hours. The film feels silly despite its one grim event, spoilt by its attempt at dark humour and a terrible musical score. Other subplots are alluded to and go nowhere and the ending is as obvious as could be. The acting is ok. Felt like watching a glorified student film.
Amazon lists it as a comedy/drama but, yeah, it's still better than The Acolyte 😂
Yeah I think I'll go with Chris reviewed because he's a little more open minded and can spell spoiled too.
DON'T see this movie. There's art that engages with great art, which this is, but then there's art with such an unpleasant key stone plot element that makes you hate yourself for watching. This is it. Admire it all you want. Watching people drowning unwanted puppies could be done with great artistic skill. But watching it makes you trash.

Maybe there's a reasonable story out there where a messed up character drowns puppies and that's just fine if the narrative is cohesive beyond that. Where I draw the line is the unsimulated acts of animal cruelty in Canibal Holocaust. At least dress it up with some film-making slight of hand. Sheesh.
@@llamasarus1 Life's too short to polute yourself with exploitative entertainment. Don't kid yourself, the most artfully directed story about a beheaded baby IS exploitative. I'm no prude to the artform, and defend most things considered tasteless. But wrapping an agonizing narrative around something so unpleasant is beyond art. It is shock for shock's sake.

chris, Dude. I loved RRR but this one was pure Misery. Well made, well acted, well filmed, if a little long, but gezz, Painful to watch. Not horror. Just experiancing Misery. I cannot recommend.

RRR was one of the best "out of the blue" movies I've seen in a long time. This one goes on that list, too.

A very upsetting movie. Sure, objectively you can say it was a well put together movie, but don't do this to yourself. i bought it on youtube, and i wish i could remove from my purchases. very very upsetting.
