I really want our country, society, to approve DIY a ton more because it legitimately brings the best out of people, our community, our environment. Born & raised in Oregon. I wish more things like this & burnside can occur in all sorts of different ways. Not just skateparks but environment adaptations.
you're so right: we should be giving people DIY parks to improve our country & society. Fuck making sure everyone has a job, home, and food in their stomach first. It's like you people go about everything so backwards, go through all the empty & meaningless feel-good gestures: "Just let them skate, bro! That will fix everything!" = mind of an idealistic child. I'd be pissed off if my community got more DIYs before it got a better infrastructure and then had someone tell me they were "helping the community". 99.99% of the people around you don't skate...so a skatepark isn't going to solve anything, other than for self-serving people who wanted one.
I was thinking along these same lines about old great malls across this country. these places are ghost towns with great foundations to build upon
@@i-never-look-at-replies-lol and this concept doesn't just apply for skateboarding. In modern America everything is a nightmare headache to get done. I've done 6+ yrs of independent contractor work/remodeling/etc. *I just wish that if people were willing to put the effort into something, they communicate with the people around them, that we can do or get things done around here.. it could really enhance our way of life/surroundings in a small local manner and then it would spread out naturally as more areas get into it.. idk how to describe it?

I was already going that way...but AFTER the r.r.r. I went nuts trying 2 hit everything n anything I could put my wheels under no matter how far away...the final courtesy 2 the veterans who ve survived the concrete crusade is a diy retirement village we can all grow old in...
We made a diy spot in the early 2010’s that got torn down by construction guys.
Made another one that I haven’t been back to since we finished it. Probably gone now, too.
Best one in our area was made on an abandoned overgrown lot of damaged overpass concrete slabs that were stacked in piles all over the place. Various transitions poured up against slabs in various states of brokenness. Wallride spots everywhere.
Was called Legoland.
