    Thank you! You did a good job teaching. The leaves really gave away the difference.

    OMG what a fabulous and beautiful video! I recognize it was created two years ago but I have to say I enjoyed and appreciated this video immensely! Bless you sweet girl! Your energy and your explanation honestly compelled me to comment and let you know how incredibly appreciative I am of your little video! I have a large property and I have both Poplar and Birch tree’s I’ve been trying to figure out the difference and today I decided to do some research. Found your video and it was amazing! Short to the point and very very well done! I never comment on UA-cam videos but your energy is also spectacular I suspect you are a true angel walking among us! Bless you sweet girl and thank you 🙏

      thanks! Tats for sure and the varieties of poplar and birch can make it hard to discern the difference.

    I bought a house in Serbia recently in the mountains, and it has many deciduous white bark trees and I was aware of the two trees and decided to investigate so I can identify which I actually have there. Incidentally, there is a variety widely used in landscaping which is a weeping version.

    Enjoyed the lesson. I found my way here because I intend to tap some trees for birch sap and I have both trees on my property. But, I also enjoyed your Godly tie to the lesson.

    I found this when I googled the difference between poplar and birch, it was really helpful, thanks!
    I agree with what you said about the Bible too. Unfortunately it's very easy to force the words to say what we want to hear instead of being humble and willing to change.

    the photos from a distance does not easily reveal their identity. Under poor light they can be mistaken. The poplar bark does not peal off in layers like a birch. birch being white and poplar can be grayish green as you said

  • @ssgg23
    @ssgg23 5 місяців тому

    Those are gray birches right? I didn’t realize their bark peeled at all because it’s so much more subtle than paper birches!

    How about Alder? 60 different Birch. About 3 Aspen.............. Trees are tricky.

    • @husch05
      @husch05 2 роки тому +1

      Aspens are poplars. Alders have leaves similar to hazels sometimes and have cones, which are kind of spherical. Alder trees also like to grow in wet areas. But overall alders are very similar to birch trees, as they are related to each other. Aspens/Poplars however are more closely related to willows. Those are two different plant families (Betulaceae and salicaeae).

      @idahopotato5837 2 роки тому +1

      @@husch05 I know aspens are poplars but I usually differentiate them. I take downed trees to mill and some people call the same tree either name here. I usually go by the bark but actually either have the same uses to me. People tell me their tree is a X and I take it. It's fun to try to figure them out though. An Aspen to N. Idaho is different than a N. Californian. Lots of trees out there😊

      In our neck of the woods, and many others I presume, we sometimes get Birch/Aspen hybrids which only confuses the issue!

      All trees are popular in the eyes of the Lord....apart from GM ones.

    An old woodman once told me about a strange phenomena. It was when a lone tree of a particular species, when surrounded by that of another, would adopt the characteristics of its neighbouring trees.
    Wish I`d jotted down his words because I cannot remember the two species he mentioned.
    As for birch, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn`s novel The Cancer Ward, refers to the chaga mushroom found on silver birch.
    I`m fortunate enough to come from an epidemiological family that respects the innate immune system God provided. No mark of the beast for us.
    I have a healthy self-seeded birch in my garden, now c10ft tall and c5yrs old. Beautiful tree.

      We find and harvest Chaga now and then. Sure is good that God made beautiful and healthy tings all around us.
