  • This video was taken Friday evening on June 23rd during the 64th National Waco Club Reunion at Wynkoop Airport in Mount Vernon, Ohio. We have video footage of an engine startup, airplane take-offs, landings and a low level flight over the landing strip. Some of the video footage was shot right before the storm so the sky and clouds really add to the look and feel of the video.
WACO Airplanes (pronounced WAH-CO) was founded in 1920 and ceased operations in 1940. They are known as a biplane and they have a very unique upper and lower wing design. I am fascinated by many of the engines on these WACO planes and the type of propellers range from wood to metal. Some of these planes feature open cockpits and some models have closed cockpits and the seating can range from side by side seating to inline seating. Something many people won't know until they see them up close is that there are models where the pilot sits in the back seat position which surprised me when I first saw one of these planes more than 30 years ago.
The majority of the population will likely not have an opportunity to experience one of these historical masterpieces. Ohio residents and specifically the residents of Knox County Ohio have been fortunate because we have an opportunity to see and experience the sites and sounds of these marvelous flying machines.
    Thanks for watching!
