Great review. My wife and I go to Cuba each year although we prefer the Ancon Peninsula (Trinidad). We did go to Cayo Coco in 2023 ( 2 weeks then a return later in the winter to Trinidad - the fun of retirement)but stayed at the Melia next to Flamenco. We liked it but we do like the memories properties so for 2025 are thinking of the properties you reviewed. We do wildlife and bird photography and flamenco is an amazing location for bird photography....but caribe is adults only....Anyway again really good review. Just an addition to the tipping is to make sure the bills you use are in good condition, no tears or deep creases.

Thanks to you guys, we just came back from this amazing resort! Loved it( except for mosquitoes:), amazing clean resort with beautiful grounds right on the most beautiful beach! We had a great time ! Upgraded to Diamond Club and enjoyed every minute of it !
I was at Caribe in November. Old standard room. Clean and comfortable. The beach is spectacular at low tide. We didn't have diamond club. Didn't feel the need. Food was great at the buffet.. Love the staff. Looking forward to your review of the Valentin. I was there the first week it opened. Nice resort, but they weren't quite ready. Haven't been back but love CSM. Ensenachos also has a beautiful beach. You will love the Coral level.

Cuban coffee turned my wife from someone who never drinks coffee, to a complete coffee snob. Not only does she have to have her coffee everyday, not only does it have to be Cuban coffee, but she's super picky: it must be Cubita, and she will only buy whole beans so she can fresh grind them before each cup!!! We stock up and bring a lot back whenever we go there, but we also spend far more than we should acquiring imported packages of beans.

We were in building 5 at Flamingo. We were on the 3rd floor and had partial ocean view which was awesome. The lay out of the Flamenco was pretty good. Easy to get around and was easy for the kids. Congrats on the 1k subs. Took me a while to get to that milestone as well. Look foreword to more of your videos

Just came back from Caribe. Had a wonderful time. Everything was great. There were a lot of Jellyfish during our stay. Bring bug spray. The staff are amazing. I love this place. Going back very soon.

You are so fun, down to earth and kind! My family really love Cuba also. We have visited 10+ times. My husband and I actually met in Cuba in 2011 and got married on the same beach in Varadero in 2018. Our favorite place is in Holguin Hotel Sol Rio De Luna Y Mares. My mom's favorite hotel is Memories Flamenco and building #2 just like you guys. Looking forward to more of your awesome content! Heading to Cuba again on April 25th. Been to Memories Caribe multiple times. Really enjoy the feel of the smaller resort. They had done an amazing job re-building the resort in record time following the Hurricane in late 2017. The property is mature and very well maintained.
Best part about Caribe is that it is adult only. Not knocking anyone with kids, but we have done it when our girls were younger and enjoy the adult-only vibe at this point of our lives.

We visited Caribe Memories in last April29. The jacuzzy pool Spa was broken. No others complains. Best sea, sand, beach entrance. Best à la carte restaurants. Spices and sauces from Canada at Buffet. To revisit. QUIET. PEACEFULL.Very clean resort, good food, climatised bars, weelchair beach accessible. Wonderful staff all over. Thanks.r

How much Canadian per person cost to upgrade to Diamond?
Great video. Hard to find a video experience on non diamond club though. Can't justify an extra $200 pp for July 5th. No beer in the room may already be a deal breaker but hate the menu board on the beach that states "Diamond Only" for snacks...

I was just at the Valentin Cayo Cruz and the coffee was so bad. It was like swamp water. I have never had such bad coffee in Cuba! I hope this coffee is good at the Caribe in March! :)

Been to Cuba 7 times but never to Cayo Coco.
We will be going in April
We just came back from Pullman. The beach was fantastic, food was simple and tasty. We got a room in building 43. It wasn't a good experience at all. It was partly in the process of cleaning/renovating. Very dirty room and very dirty hallways. The ground floor looked like a tornado went through all 7 days. The whole Cayo Coco had water issues the whole week. So we only had 1 warm shower in total. And maybe 2 cold showers. The rest of the week, no water (including toilets - public and in the room) or some water dripping. Good, the ocean was beautiful and had some water in it :) Pool looked nasty, and they used pool water to wash down public toilets (I really hope just for that). Overall, it was better to be in Pullman than in Ontario last week :) Not sure if I will ever go back to Pullman. Not worth the money for the higher price of this resort. I will definitely go try Flamenco, though and bring kids.

@@Finding-Fish I'm at the Pullman right now, arrived Sunday night. The "plumbing" issue has been resolved. My understanding is that it was a main line services the Pullman , Melia Cayo Coco, and Sol Cayo Coco.

Have you guys went to Pullman or Milea del jardin on cayo coco? Which one you recommend for family with kids on cayo coco.
We have not been to either but if you’re thinking Melia- Flamenco for kids has a bigger and better beach.
Im actually at the Pullman right now, Strongly recommend you stay at the "collections" side of the Pullman. It's pricey via the tour companies, however you can book a regular room via your tour company, then upgrade to collections upon check in for a lot less. Naturally Subject to availability.
Collections is adults only, a- la-cart every night, restricted beach area, etc.

@Finding Fish we upgraded to the Collections at the front desk for an additional $80 per night - totally worth it my humble opinion. The difference between the regular side of the Pullman vs the Collections side is like day & night.

Does memories flamenco have the same type of sit down snack bar / grill on the beach as you mentioned at caribe for diamond club?? Also, are we able to use the facilities at caribe if we are diamond club and staying at flamenco?
no memories flamenco doesn't have the same type of sit down eating area, and no you can't go to the the other resort and use the facility, you can go and look around but not to eat and drink

Great video. I hate the large resorts where you need a golf cart to get to the beach. Last time I was in Cuba a woman came up to me to exchange about $10 worth of "toonies" and was upset I gave here a straight exchange in Canadian dollars. I understand USA is the only option for $1 or $2 bills. Even the Euro has coins like Canada?
Cubans can't deposit coins so USD $1 are great or i just bring $5 $10 CAD and trip when i feel i need to

Your UA-cam blogs are very insightful Mike. We stayed at Memories Flamenco this past March Break (2024) as a family of three. Will agree with much of your description BUT as non/diamond club members in Building 9. The rooms there awful. No water pressure, no hot water, non-flushing toilets and mould. Hard to get linens. Wifi near impossible to connect to even in lobby area. We were upgraded to DC later in week but also want to mention it takes over an hour at the regular beach taco restaurant to get the taco/crepes. Long story short, unless you are a DC member, good chance that you’ll be disappointed with quality of resort based on price (in mid March). Barista’s were great, thought resort layout was actually decent, didn’t care much for the burnt nuggets at the snack bar but buffet offerings were decent. Watch out on walkways for the drain covers; some protrude and given most people are wearing uncovered shoes or sandals, potential for toe jams or lacerations. Beach awesome but resort itself needs serious capital investment in accommodations.

We stayed at Caribe last July and we could hear the music from Flamenco it was annoying 🙄 Great point about the beach being amazing at low tide. It's totally worth grabbing lots of water and walking past hotel cayo coco...Pristine beach all to yourself.🌞🌞

I always prefer 2nd floor, less chances for the bug walkers to get in. And i do find its safer from the patio door aspect as well. I wouldn’t worry to much about the bugs. Have fun

Thank you for your videos. My husband and I are headed to memories Caribe in March. I wanted to ask a out tipping. You recommend Canadians bills ($5 and $10) for tips. My friend mentioned that she had gone to a resort in Cuba and that there was an exchange office at the hotel. She exchanged her Canadian money for the local currency, which she said was preferable for the locals. Can you advise me on this possibility at Memories Caribe. Thank you😊
If you go into town you may need local Currency, but at the resorts they prefer Canadian dollars. You will get more info on the bus transfer from the airport to the resort. The travel guide will give you all the detail on the bus ride to the resort.

They’ll ask usually ask you at check in if you want to exchange and there’s also an exchange centre close to the lobby. It’s a good option for if you’re going out(also bring your credit card), want some singles and didn’t bring usd or tipping the person who helps with your luggage. Last time I was there during the meeting they also emphasized that one of best form of tips is bringing stuff (toiletries, clothes, food, kids stuff etc). Things they can’t easily get with money. Whatever floats your boat but keep in mind coins are a big no no.

you don't need Diamond club for that, just email the resort a few weeks out and tell them your request and that you are a returning guest .

We stayed at the Flamenco…coffee was very good, as was the beach and the sea. Food was ok. The staff were friendly and helpful. But the noise around the pool and down on the beach was overpowering. Difficult to find a quiet corner anywhere in the hotel.

Very interesting. I booked a few years ago at flamenco but then ended up going to Caribe since I was solo. I think I’d try Flamenco if I wanted a more party vibe and was going with friends. I loved how the beach at Caribe was so accessible. My last stay at caribe I was in a suite right off the beach. It was the best room I’ve ever had in Cuba. There is no bathroom at the beach for anyone wondering. The regular side for beach food usually has really good pizza, sometimes ham and cheese. For anyone with mobility issues they can pick you up and drop you off in a golf cart. At the beach they will call the lobby to advise them. I wish there was a video like this for my upcoming trip in Cayo Santa Mario. First time there.

@@DelroyJWillis probably more so than Caribe. I find 16 plus tend to attract an older and calmer crowd. But since it’s an island cayo coco in general is less of a party place. Pick a place with a disco. Otherwise go somewhere like Varadero where you’ll have more options to go out and there are locals. But def make friends with entertainment staff if you’re any to have a fun time at night.

@@bogdantrzymaj honestly it wasn’t my favourite. I went in a small group and it was 2 people’s first times doing an all inclusive and they seemed turned off from going back to Cuba because of it. We also went at a time where there had been a very good deal and it was busy but they weren’t at full capacity. Long lines for the buffet. The beach was very long, the bar and snack bar were a trek to get to and chairs were hard to come by and weirdly placed. The pool, although massive and well maintained wasn’t that enjoyable because they took the chairs out when you asked so people would save spots, sometimes there were not enough chairs for everyone and none left. People sat on the ground and waited for spots even though there would have been enough area to have more chairs. It was very clean, only one room out of 4 from our group had humidity issues and seemed older. Service was good most of the time. Not a lot of hotels in Cuba will have servers working in the lobby and it’s a large space so that was nice. Always room to sit. Entertainment area was massive. Often ran out of cups even for water so bring your own although since then most places use brown paper cups now. Restaurant was a nice experience but hit or miss. The fact that the pool and beach situation weren’t great (although nice) really turned us off. I wouldn’t return personally and prefer a shorter beach like most resorts in Cayo Coco. Keep in mind this was one year ago we went.

I have traveled to Cuba and the Caribbean more then 40 and on 2 occasions I’ve seen a bug in my room.
That being said if you do witness a bug just let your made know and customer service and it will be dealt with immediately!!!!
Lower flower might have an occasional bug but it’s not typical

Im was at Caribe ,, unfortunately the coffee wasn’t as good as Mcdonalds coffee… it tasted watered down.. are you guys getting some kind of special treatment? The coffee tasted sub par.. im sorry but nothing like Europe!! I have to say for those of you who have gone to Jamaica, the coffee there is about 10 x better im not being sarcastic here or even exaggerating ! Finding Fish you have to be honest with your reviews! You are way too positive and in reality It isn’t as food as you say! I just got off the plane in Toronto from there!
My wife just made some coffee bought in Cuba and it was good not watered down tasting… .. btw do not go in late June the mosquitos are terrible .. could only go to the beach 1 time.. the sand flees are also abundant. Just a tip for anyone interested. We always go for the beach and this time it was off limits for us anyway. Bring bug spray .. it doesn’t deter bites but it helps. The people are great. The Beans cafe was not available during our stay which was low season also the Diamond club room not available. Btw they sprayed 2 x a day with this thick diesel like substance in the open air restaurant ( Bites) and people were sitting there ! It’s a-lot of smoke . A plane also sprayed over us as we laid by the pool.
Even with all of this we managed to have a good time

seems like you go to Cuba a lot. It wouldn't hurt if you learned some basic spanish, or at least the alphabet and how to pronounce words, so you can actually learn the name of the resorts you go to. Spanish is easy to read. All letters except silent ones are pronounced. The accent is always the 2nd last syllable of all words, unless the accent is specified in the word itself. ka-REE-bay, not ka-RIB. You need to pronounce the e at the end. (e's sound like a's in English) I noticed you couldn't say Patriarca as well. It might help your videos if you learn the names of the places you're visiting.
