  • For episode 13 of Machinedrum Mondays I am reacting to the Dark Funeral drum cam performance of Vobiscum Satanas! Dominator's performance BLEW ME AWAY! I was extremely impressed by his stounding speed and visceral mastery of the drumset. Black metal really is a genre all of its own with intensity like this!

    Nils is a force of nature behind the kit and his live performances is always better than the studio version because of the improvisations he adds, you can go and check the original track but you won't be able to hear the drums that well and yes the kick drum is triggered which is completely normal.
    One last thing to notice that this track is one of the fairly moderate or easy tracks by Nils, he has a lot of other live footages that will absolutely blow your head

    "Ridiculously intense" is one of the better describes for bands like Dark Funeral and 1349 that you can use. Some Black metal bands just push that stuff.

    I know this is a bit of an "older post", but im glad you touched on how time consuming and the amount of work involved for a high production "react" video. I know its just out of ignorance since the majority of creators that do "react" content, actually do just use a cheap webcam, hit play, and spend maybe an hour or so to trim the video a bit and upload. But for me, within the first 5 seconds of the first video of yours, I knew immediately that amount of time, talent, and work you put into these videos is such high production value, which just screams Quality and is 100x more appealing. Thank you, again, for putting so much that integrity into your content instead of taking the attitude of " ehh, Good enough, Im getting views"...I might have made a comment before but this is also coming from a music of 15+ years, whos done video compositing/editing, an Audio technician/engineering with mixing/mastering, among other jobs. I reoognize that bar youve set and I genuinely appreciate it.

    Ok. This is Dark Funeral. There is only 1 nils. BUT the band Marduk is sick and also Swedish black metal. I suggest something from album “world funeral “ for production purposes though I personally prefer the album those of the unlight. Older, rawer, but fast af too.

    As a Gen Xer, Dominator has been the "level up" from Dave Lombardo, IMO. I don't like many of Dark Funeral's songs, but this guy is one of the best drummers of my lifetime. You have to wonder what else a guy like Dominator could do if he changed music styles (particularly if asked to play more at slower tempos or just in a death-doom metal band with lots of moderate tempos). Oleta Adam's husband can blow you away live, similarly, but in an utterly different style.

    I’m not much of a black metal guy, but I am slightly familiar with this drummer. And I think he might be the fastest drummer. Especially in terms of playing that fast for an entire set. Red Bull gives you wings!
    Edit: I’m not a drummer, so please do correct me if I’m wrong. But there’s something awkward about his technique in terms of movement. Like his cross overs and when he fills across the kit. Am I wrong?

    • @DrumlionMusic
      @DrumlionMusic  Рік тому

      Its interesting that you point this out. I really think its mainly because hes a southpaw drummer and his drumset is set up southpaw too. So his approach to fills and overall movement is different. Sometimes its subtle and sometimes it really stands out.
