Even a year later I’m still coming back and watching this video. I literally was jumping up and down cheering when I heard he was a finalist. To be able to say I performed in a show with him still blows my mind. Corbin, you are so talented! I feel so thankful to have been able to not only watch you perform but also perform alongside you. Please never stop being you. ❤
I think it’s important to realize that both Langston and Corbin are very talented. They also have very different voices and sang very different songs, so I’m sure the judges had a hard time deciding who the winner would be. At the end of the day there can only be one winner but I think Corbin really established himself with this performance. Great Job!
Put your hands in your pocket and tell the story kid. You have it in you and you don’t need the unnecessary and unnatural hand gestures…tough material to tackle at your age, really great stuff!
I've watched this video five times and I just don't get a sense of the stakes. Lots of theatrics but what emotional "truth" is he trying to convey through the song? I just can't find it, and it's unfortunate because he's obviously so incredibly talented.
Sorry, I realize this response is very late. I wasn't aware of this musical prior to my review, and I now can see that this performer chose one of the most complicated songs in the entire Broadway songbook. No harm in that, but it is definitely a huge load to bear. After looking at many, many other performances of this song, it appears that this extremely complicated libretto is ultimately about the father, not the newborn son. As I mentioned before, this performer is such an amazing talent, and I believe he will become a major Broadway superstar! So much talent, at such a young age!!!
I don't know. I didn't notice. Then I watched again when I saw this comment, but with the volume muted. He communicates all of the emotiona so well, and so naturally, then you don't even need to hear it to feel it. I think his hands speak so much, they are almost like the perfect visual accompaniment to the sound he is making.
His storytelling/communication in this performance was incredible. I thought he was going to win because of it.

WINNER WINNER! He had the entire room in the palm of his hand. We were on the edge of our seats listening to him tell this story.

@@girlscangame315I think we might have been in the same production. Was it at NTPA?
Moving.
This guy is a terrible guy irl like bro said the n word
Lowkey robbed
I would have said don't use the hands so much because they can become very detracting from the performance.
