Something about this trope of a person who's been put through the ringer by life, only to be suddenly adopted into a cluster of misfits with an unconstitutional, genuine love for the protagonist is something that imprinted on me and never left.
@@c0tc4ndy I don't know if this is off-topic but I imagine something kinda similar. I sometimes imagine the main characters from Big Bang Theory are my family. I like the way Roald Dahl was always very honest to children that just because people are related to you, doesn't mean they actually love you, and that adoptive families are just as valid and sometimes even more loving than "real" ones. Like none of these characters have the slightest blood relation to each other, they're all different species from different regions, and yet they love each other far more than James' aunts ever loved him. Same with Matilda, Roald Dahl doesn't ever force the message "Family is forever", because the unfortunate reality is that it isn't.
It was sweet…till you reminded me of the dark cloud that lines over my head every single day of my life…. One day my mom will die. But it’s not your fault. It is true…and I have been like this ever since I lost my grandma. Ever since I can’t get the thought of losing my mom out of my head either.

Love this song in this movie. Best part was the scene after the song. James: "We'll always be together, won't we?" Mr. Centipede: "Kid. You're stuck with us for life!"

Now you've made me imagine a new scene that could have fit in near the end of the movie: After the crowds and everyone else has left, leaving James and the bugs alone, the spirits of James's parents appear to them. After having a sweet reunion/ proper goodbye to their son, they turn to the bugs and say with a smile, "Thank you for all you've done. Take good care of him," and the bugs nod and bow respectfully to them.
They should have a alternate ending in which the rhino appears a sword of braveness appears when James confronts the rhino and kills it with the sword Or a final battle that James parents fight the rhino to help James and the bugs with a sword of heaven and James parents spirits fade to heaven with a bolt from the finger tips to weaken the rhino to let James stab the rhino with the sword and the rhino roars in agony and explodes up in the sky along side the aunts and a scene in which the rhino gets distracted by the military while shooting it and the rhino tries to kill them
Actually, I think it is more like this: -Miss Spider: mother -Mr. Centipede: father -Mr. Grasshopper: grandfather -Glowworm: grandmother -Mrs. Ladybug: aunt -Earthworm: uncle
I love the way they pulled off the romance between Spider and Centipede!! Their first moment together was very much like bickering siblings, and their last in this scene is him kissing her hand in the smoothest way possible and her swooning. 😂 It’s adorable. ❤
And with a beautiful message. Family doesn't just mean those you are related to. It also means those who care about you and stick with you through both the good times and the bad. Those with no blood relation but love you every bit as much.
I watched this movie recently, and got the impression that the film was actually much, much deeper than just a happy go lucky kids movie. I don't think the cloud rhino, giant flying peach, humanized bugs, ghost shipwreck, robot shark, ect. were meant to be taken literally (unless you're a kid, of course). I got the impression that these were all things in Jame's imagination as he tried to escape his aunt's abuse. I think it was all meant to be symbolistic.
I’m getting Winnie the Pooh vibes and I think you’re right, the robot shark made fish head plates out of the fish it gobbled up. James must be pretty messed up psychologically from all the abuse he’s endured that he made up characters for each of the bugs, it’s like he’s projecting himself on to them.
True, but let's not forget there are other beautiful disney songs out there. my top five are this song, Baby Mine, When She Loved Me, Someone's Waiting For You, and of course When You Wish Upon a Star.
22 years old and just got done watching this movie. I wish I could go back in time as a little kid and I’d appreciate and enjoy everything so much more lol
Never really understood it as a kid, but having recently rewatched this as an adult, I’m fairly certain that those are meant to be the spirits of James’ parents at 0:56.

Such a great song. The comments alone do my thoughts justice for how I feel when listening to this and nostalgia of it when I first seen it as a kid. It doesn't matter what family you are born into, family is what you make it. There's always someone out there to welcome someone who needs it.
This song hurts me to hear. Whenever I'm away from home or like recently parted with friends. This song comes into my head the words "we're family" just ring and I think of all the happy moments.

This song made my friend Vee cry when me, them, and one other friend watched it together. The very end delights me but always gets me surprised at the same time. x3 I'm not sure why it was decided that Mr. Centipede and Miss Spider perform a short dancing duet right after what seemed like a perfect finale, but all I can say is: THANK YOU for that!!! :D
When you're going through shitty times as a kid, not understanding what the hell is going on, and still stuck with family through times. This movie was one of the few that helped me escape from all those rough times...Honest to say that this movie along with this song is the best representation of what family means. Best disney film in my personal opinion. Wish disney would invest more in artistic, creative and story telling than the money grab bs they've been doing.
I LOVED the Centipede when I was little... I mean, I loved them all, but the Centipede was my favorite and when my grandma and mom got me a set of James And The Giant Peach dolls and the big peach, all I played with the most was just was Mr. Centipede. lol xD
Earthworm= David Thewlis= Professor Lupin in Harry Potter. I couldn't believe it at first. The man could sing and has been a part of my childhood a lot longer than I had realized. I love that man.
I cannot believe Susan Sarandon did Ms. Spider, and I especially an't believe David Thewlis was Earthworm! I love them! They sound so different! Awesome movie!! Can't wait for the digitally restored version will be out in 2 more days!! =D
+MegaAniLinkFan To be fair, most of the songs are pretty forgettable. Except for this one. I was really disappointed to see NC's reaction to this part, it's great!
JTH Studios Woah dude, that one was amazing. It doesn't matter that he didn't sing like broadway quality, what mattered was that you felt is loss, his desire, and his acceptance of leaving is only dream until the magic man offers him a way out. I felt something from that song when I saw this movie many many many years ago, aside from this song, that one stuck with me for a long time in the back of my mind.
MegaAniLinkFan That makes a lot of sense, and it's really not that bad, I just think it could have been written a little better. The performance itself really was quite good for a child actor...
I forgot how much I watched this film as a kid. That part with the Peach being a part of the Solar System as an ornament made me cry. This film is a masterpiece. It’s not about the family you’re born with, it’s about the family you make along the way.

I Can Listen To That Beautiful, Catchy Song All Day Long !
was my favorite movie as a kid ❤️
I just love this song. I'm becoming a fan of Randy Newman music. Never knew he wrote so many songs that I loved as a kid.
Yes, Ms. Glowworm *SING!!* SING IT OUT!!!
The message of love makes me so happy 💝💌 ....Love does exactly what it wants to do, LOVE 💞💗💖💓.....were family were family YAY. Gods message has always been love !!!
This song never fails to make me cry 😭
so sad
Great movie 😊
this is my faviorte movie ever i watch it over and over again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! who else likes this video.
This would make a VERY nice stage musical.
It is!
James and the Giant Peach 🍑
The musical is here
@@AmandaBroadfoot Except, it lacks the songs from the Disney adapted version.
😭😭😭😭😭
Ow. My emotions. They are crying of nostalgia.
One of my favorite animated songs to this day
The very end delights me but always gets me surprised at the same time. x3 I'm not sure why it was decided that Mr. Centipede and Miss Spider perform a short dancing duet right after what seemed like a perfect finale, but all I can say is: THANK YOU for that!!! :D
You gotta admit, though, the animation of that dance is beautiful.
They do love each other. Finally! A real kiss 💋 in the end
Very under-rated song I find! And what a brilliant cast to sing it!
It's no wonder why this movie means so much to me! I grew up with it and forgot all about it.
I LOVED the Centipede when I was little... I mean, I loved them all, but the Centipede was my favorite and when my grandma and mom got me a set of James And The Giant Peach dolls and the big peach, all I played with the most was just was Mr. Centipede. lol xD
Sooo sweet. I’m a child again watching this at the movies with my mom ❤
Jane Leeves is so amazing.
Omg it's like mainlining nostalgia. Love this movie so much.
Doug Walker can shut up. This movie is a great kids/family film.

To be fair, most of the songs are pretty forgettable. Except for this one. I was really disappointed to see NC's reaction to this part, it's great!
Well except James, or whatever that one's called that he sings when making that mini hot air balloon out of the popcorn bag.

Yeah, that was by far the worst one...

That makes a lot of sense, and it's really not that bad, I just think it could have been written a little better. The performance itself really was quite good for a child actor...
I forgot how much I watched this film as a kid. That part with the Peach being a part of the Solar System as an ornament made me cry. This film is a masterpiece. It’s not about the family you’re born with, it’s about the family you make along the way.
This Song is so sweet :) ❤❤
man this scene alone brings back so many happy memories! I love this movie
This song brought back so many memories. I'm glad that I got to hear it again after so long. ^-^
Thank you so much for uploading it. :)
I always think about this movie, seeing everyone's comments.
I hope everybody gets the love they deserve, my heart is very happy.
🍑 In James and the Giant Peach, we fly so high,
With James as our heart, we touch the sky.
🐛 His love and wonder, the sweetest boon,
🐛 With Peach as home, our spirits touch the moon.
🦗 A Grasshopper's song, a cheerful tune,
🐞 Ladybug's grace, standing by his side,
🐛 With James as our heart, we touch the sky.
🐛 Centipede, wise, guiding afternoon,
A glow worm's light, love's eternal guide.
🍑 In James and the Giant Peach, we fly so high,
With James as our heart, we touch the sky.
🍑 The warmth of family, none can deny,
For in James's heart, we all confide.
🐛 With Peach as home, our spirits touch the moon.
🐞 So amazed by love, he starts to cry,
Together we'll dance, under the starry sigh.
🍑 In James and the Giant Peach, we fly so high,
🐛 With James as our heart, we touch the sky.💞🫂
Me and my friends watched this blazed out of our minds.
I cry every time I hear this song
Bruh me too, especially after all that’s happened in the last few years
omg the nostalgia..I used to love this movie but I also thought it was kinda scary I still do but it will always have a place in my heart.
I loved this movie as a kid
Wow. I just experienced massive nostalgia and feelings of childhood watching this.
That old man could've been any more right those magic croc toungues give James best thing anyone could ask for a loveing family
I adore this film! ^.^

Spider's line of the song is my fave.
i think out of the actual movie, I'd heard this song in a Sing-Along VHS growing up. had a few of them in our house when i was younger. might still have them somewhere.
