Ok son, just like I tell my son, and my grandfather told me several times. When it comes to your drill bits, High speed steel means slow speed drill, don't get in a hurry, it goes so much faster that way. God bless you, and yours.
Pastor I have been a welder fabricator for over 35 years and companies that I have also been trained on Laths, mills, and surface grinders. You do miticulous detail to your work I can see. I have welders, cutting rig, and all that other stuff I have collected over the years for my trade and do a lot of side work also, I can see you are a very tallented craftsman I entend to make some kind of saw mill myself. Thank you for being so inspiring, but of course thats your other job also as a pastor.
Thanks again for posting videos of your sawmill project. I found a hub like the one you use that fit the go-cart axle I am using for my mill. I just started some welding and I will post videos with my earlier concept and parts videos shortly. I sure hope mine works as good as yours.
Wacking the shaft in through your bearing pillow blocks like that will make the bearings noisy right from there get go, use tubes that push on the bearing centre onto the shaft, putting the force on the inside race not the balls will keep it as new, hitting the outside race will mess it up
Hi Pastor, I really like you sawmill and the music that goes with it, I saw on some reviews Satan doesn't like it but that is understandable. I am a missionary in Botswana Africa training church leaders as well as doing some skills. We have lovely Teak wood here. I was wondering if you don't have any plans for your mill that you can sent me. Blessiengs Freddie
ay man. I know the feels with struggling with a blunt drill bit. my heart goes out to you for keeping preservering.. I would have got the shits and beaten someone up by now hahahaha great music bud. I dig it !!!
You should step drill your holes. Anything from 3/8" and up should have a smaller hole drilled first and the larger the bit the more steps that should be taken to prevent burning up your bit.
PastorBCoy would you make some plans for it with measurements so its possible to bring the son out and make it here in europe as a father/son project ?
Hi there, I would like to see how the hinged section is put together. And we're you bought the wheel hub and axle from. Could you also show a more detailed view of the saw mill cheers.

Hi PastorBCoy, I am building a mill similar to yours. I noticed some people put an angle adjustment on one tire and others put an adjustment on both (so one of the tires ends up with an angle and a tension adjustment). It looks like you put an adjustment on one tire for angle and an adjustment for blade tension on the other. Is that correct? Or does one tire have two adjustments? Can you elaborate please? Thanks!
Did you have any issues getting the blade to track? The research that I've done suggests the wheels must be "towed" in order for the blade to track. On your sawmill is there some mechanism that accomplishes this?
No one ever told you how to drill a small pilot hole first then use larger drill bits...Damage large drill bits trying to drill a hole from start to finish.
Don't know if you still monitor these comments but I would love to know where you got that flange (6 min. mark) for the tire and what it cost ...thank you
don't drill at full speed it wears your bit out faster I use a variable speed drill and watch the chips, you want curls coming out and I use a bowl with used motor oil and keep dipping drill into bowl. Don't let bit get hot
Pastor you look pretty skilled in welding and fabricating do you have to do side work to supplement your income, but none of my business our pastor also does extra work also.
when drilling steel ...punch first ..then pilot ..then step up to finished size ... and use lower speed ... builds up less heat and preserves drill bit ..that was painful to watch !
Hi PastorBCoy, Amazing work! I have to get in line with the others here - where did the axle/hub/wheel assembly come from? It's one of the toughest things to source. Thanks!
+Jim Murphy I built this away from home and was extremely limited in my tool selection. The only drill bit I could find was borrowed from the neighbor. It was as dull as a stick and I had to suffer through it.

I've got a bunch of wood I need to saw with a bandsaw. Something like this I can make with some of the things in my workshop and my everlast welder.

Egidio Borg I will post an overview of the sawmill sometime in the next couple weeks. So keep checking in from time to time.
hi if you first drill a small hole then the bigger drill will go thru much faster
Will Hatting Yeah, I was away from home, because my house is of solar. Had to barrow that bit. It defiantly could of used a sharpening.
That was my first thought also...first small bit then a bigger... good working!

Did you have any issues getting the blade to track? The research that I've done suggests the wheels must be "towed" in order for the blade to track. On your sawmill is there some mechanism that accomplishes this?
No, I haven't had a problem with the blade. One of the wheels is on a hinge. A bolt runs through it to control the position of the hinged wheel.
The hinged wheel controls the tracking.
PastorBCoy
Do you think that maybe you could show a video on how the hinged wheel works, I really like your video's, great Job.

Can i ask were everyone is getting the bit that bolts to the wheel from or thy custom made
Go cart hub from ebay or amazon

The bigger the bit; the slower it should turn and more pressure applied. Always pilot hole with a small bit.
Nice series, but where did you get the tire hubs?
hi, where did you get the big pulley wheel?
City pantry house thanks
What did you use for wheels and hubs?
What is the name the cell mechanism where those bearing.
