This was, as usual, quite fun to watch!
I have been trying to work out a soapbox challenge for us in the discord. The problem--well the biggest problem--has been that because I want to make it a down hill time trial getting the car to start rolling from the Beam starting points doesn't work. At least all of the in game starting points are level. My initial ideas was to run Pikes Peak from top to bottom and just yank the engine in the cars before starting. I have looked at all the various possible courses and they all have level starting points.
I'm not giving up on this idea but have started to try to figure out the mission editor in Beam so I can make a custom course that I can also share with any potential competitors. That is taking me longer than I hoped it would. :(
I personally love weird builds like this and, in general, cars way, wat out of the ordinary.

Yeah custom course is the way to go
Not long before I left I was planning a soapbox challenge I had the idea to use the hill climb section of the Automation map. The ice section near the top makes it interesting. I think I was going to do it like a toy car challenge.
Have you tried placing ramps at the starting line?

could you drive in a normal car and then switch to the soapbox car when you are at a slope?
He has joined me in making silly goofy soapbox/downhill derby cars. I have a 5 horsepower 3 lb*ft engine that I put in mine that rev limits to 2.7k, it gives it just enough to go up a hill around walking speed. I have one that looks like an actual box and one that is just a 50's microcar.
I like the idea of a lower power showcase though, definitely gonna want a short course though

@@automotiveflux Yeah I did it on whim and it came up with a pretty interesting car. I ended up with a desil boxer 4 in a sports coupe. Just throwing ideas out!
I have a strange idea, but hear me out. It’s an EV hill climb car, but the model year is 1957, and it’s a big American car with a 2.8m wheelbase or longer.
EV in 1957 would be terrible
@@automotiveflux I should’ve specified the body as 57 and the powerplant itself being 2020 my bad. A 50s EV wouldn’t make it up, let alone quickly lol
