3:35 Soren has learned from the last time he tried fighting a dragon. That was a hard lesson for him but he definitely learned it.

5:27 The creators did confirm that the spell does wear off after a few days. So the soldiers in season 3 did eventually change back. Also I think the reason that everyone was still able to speak and didn’t turn into monsters this time was because the spell was being fueled by love instead of hatred.
The creators also confirmed that the last line of the spell not being reversed, along with Viren’s face returning to normal after the spell was cast, was meant to be symbolic of him transcending the inherent evil of dark magi in that moment.

I vaguely remember the soldiers looking normal after the battle, when they were being led away in shackles.
I love that! Viren worked so hard to get away from the evil of dark magic, and even though he had to use it again, he did it for pure and selfless reasons. Perhaps in the end he did finally escape that darkness.

Viren's last words were also King Harrow's last words. "......a servant."
    Brothers to the end.

I love how Viren had such a different tone saying that line here versus how he said it to Amaya. Before, it was in anger; he was spiteful that he had a lower social status. Here it was with heartbreak, but I think he truly wanted to be a "servant" to humanity. He finally was.

It was so well done! The music, the flashbacks, the cinematic shots, and the callback to Harrows last words to him.

tragic though this episode was, the revelation of Sol Regem having a mate he's apparently missed for at least a thousand years (implying that she likely died even before humans 'discovered' dark magic) does clear up my confusion over a couple of his statements from the prior season, and how this may have changed him even before his meeting with Ziard:
"I lost my hope long before I lost my sight. The sun will never rise again for me. I've lived centuries in this eternal night."
as for the peculiar flames/sparks that flew after his death, my initial assumption was that this was something that might naturally/magically occur upon an Archdragon's death in correlation to their primal source, and that perhaps if Avizandum had died a more natural death, his flesh might have turned into lightning or something else sky affiliated, leaving only his bones behind as well

    • @Dare_to_Nerd
      @Dare_to_Nerd  2 місяці тому +2

That's a great connection to the line, "I lost my hope long before I lost my sight." I didn't think he was talking about a loved one at the time, but it makes sense!
I like your interpretation about the lights. Perhaps it was the primal magic itself releasing from the body?

18:36 Terry is not having this. It’s also sad because earlier Claudia asked Terry to tell her what to do, and he said that he couldn’t because Claudia had to find her own path. Now at her lowest moment, she asks Aaravos that same question, and he takes advantage of it. I want to see Terry stand up to Aaravos next season.

I would love to see Terry stand up to Aaravos (though I can't imagine that will end well). I think he feels something is not right with this situation. But he wants to give Claudia the space to make her own decisions and offer support, even if he doesn't fully agree with her.

Another good hint was how Claudia needed it to release Sparklepuff from the chrysalis, so there was definitely a Star connection.

In the end Viren faced his end with humility, after living a life destroyed by his ambition.

  • @LauraM96829

Viren’s sacrifice was the perfect end to his arc. He always claimed that he was fighting for a bright future for humanity, when really it was about his own need for power. So now he is giving his life to save his son and his people, even if no one other than Soren ever knows it was him who saved him. Viren’s last words being a callback to Harrow calling him a servant to the people was beautiful.
And I also loved how Viren was inspired to do this after seeing Soren offer his own life without even being asked. Soren spent his childhood admiring Viren and wanting to be like him. And in Viren’s final moments, he chose to follow Soren’s example of selflessness and courage.

@@hannahburke7328 And since no one knows about Pharos being controlled by Aaravos, Janai and Amaya might think destroying Katolis was part of Karim’s plan. And even if he can convince them that this wasn’t his plan, that doesn’t matter since this is still his fault.
Sol Regeam would not have been able to do this if it hadn’t been for Karim healing his wings. Just like with Kim’dael, he was willing to release someone dangerous onto the world, putting countless lives at risk, for his own benefit in the short term.

6x8 and 6x9 are my favorite episodes of the whole series. My favorite scenes from this episode are when Aaravos revealed himself to Sol Regem and told him he manipulated him for centuries and then told him he killed his own mate and then watched him die. And when Viren sacrificed himself. I even cried today and I've seen this episode a lot. And when Claudia found him and cried. And also when Aaravos revealed the quasar diamond. This episode is deliciously good. I love rewatching it. Very excited for next episode 😊

when I first watched it I genuinely thought Aaravos would say "delicious" instead of "you" in the "it was you" line. Like I had the "I swallowed her" line from season 5 in my head and really was expecting Aaravos to deliver the coldest and the most disrespectful line in history implying that he killed and ate Sol Regem's mate

    • @Dare_to_Nerd

@Dare_to_Nerd yes I appreciate how they animated him in this scene, the look on his face was kinda scary how much he enjoyed it.
I will say that just for a moment I felt a bit tiny small bad to him, but only because I thought Aaravos make him feel humans killed his wife and that why he was so hatred to them, and yet he just a monster that was always look down upon humans, even Ziared that tried using dark magic for good.
