    Tito’s guide to folding your arms:
    1) Move your arms slowly, really telegraph it
    2) Make it look as though you’ve never ever folded your arms before. You want it as unnatural as possible.
    3) Fold your hand directly under your armpit. You want it to look like a stiff hug that you’re giving to yourself.

    The ironic this is that TNA had all the money they could've ever wanted. They were owned by billionaires but they refused to invest in the product, and they also refused to let Spike TV purchase a minority amount of shares in the company. Ultimately, TNA's biggest financial problems were due to the parent company not wanting to invest money in Dixie Carter's play project, and Dixie seeing herself as the female Vince McMahon. From all accounts she could be a cold hearted businesswoman behind the scenes, but time and time again she proved she wasn't Vince McMahon or a very good businesswoman.

Sometime you don't have to beat your opponent directly, just go into business where they don't have the reach. It happens with regular companies also. Going on the road is very risky to do due to lack of crowds as mentioned but it probably wasnt the best idea when they did it. I think when TNA was white hot they could of sold out small arenas and made it worth it. However it still costs a lot to do so im surprised they even did it at all

      It probably didn't help that in 2010 the US economy was still recovering from the Great Recession. In a fragile economy it's a lot less likely people are going to spend money on tickets for a wrestling show (or any entertainment really).

    • @Noobie2k7
      @Noobie2k7 2 роки тому

      @@jerrybarry3148 Well attempting to go live while staying in the Impact zone could have potentially cost them just as much, having to fly in and out the talent every single week. Much more manageable to do a number of shows taped in a row as it allows them to just fly in everyone they need at once, film like 5-6 episodes over a weekend and then send everyone back again and do it again in a months time.
      The issues with pre-taping though is not only that it leads to leaks happening it also means a lot of weeks of TV end up looking very samey as they only have access to whoever they flew in for those 5-6 shows so people end up facing eachother over and over in various matches for over a month of TV. Which then also leads to a very stale product.

    • @Matt-cr4vv
      @Matt-cr4vv Рік тому

      Touring could’ve been a great thing if they actually committed to doing it over a long stretch of time to actually give it chance to catch hold, had a strong television product, and marketed it so people would actually know of events to attend. The issue with the impact zone is it’s usually the same people, or disinterested theme park guests, which diminishes a lot of the appeal. They also weren’t allowed to charge admission to the stage so they trained their audience to never pay for their product. They needed to make a genuine commitment to build up a live brand because eventually it would’ve brought more revenue lines outside of fully depending on Spike. They could’ve funded it if Panda actually committed to making such investment but Oanda wasn’t interested without an immediate return on investment which didn’t happen. Until Panda basically disassociated entirely in the 2015 or so the money to do it was there but it would’ve taken some time. But it would’ve finally trained an audience to actually pay to see your product and grown revenues.

    I do give them credit where credit is due in touring, when they did the Hammerstein Ballroom in 2015 it actually worked to their favor they needed big venues that weren't so big when you think about it, like the venues that housed old ECW shows would have been the best places for them to work.
    NXT Works in a small intimate environment but you can never say that the shows are boring and are dull because the crowd give no interaction.

    Johnny Fairplay was likely a complete waste of money. His substance abuse likely made him difficult to use a least. But Survivor was huge in the US at the time (top TV show frequently), he had been a popular character (the heel of the show), and he was more well known at the time across the US than any of the guys who wrestled on the show when he appeared, even more well known that someone like Jarrett.
    Additionally, he was trained as a professional wrestler for about 6 years and was Roddy Piper's assistant for a year and a half. It made some sense, and if he had been more put together it probably would have worked. But he was not.

Foley shouldn't be included on this list because it's not like he didn't bring anything to the table. Would I have paid him that much? Pacman Jones was hired for all the wrong reasons, but there was a lot of potential there, hear me out.
    By all accounts, Jones was ready to put his working boots on, and wrestle for TNA. That was the plan when he was signed, anyways. American Football players have classically been very successful in pro wrestling, whether its guys who converted, or made appearances as celebrities. An athletic, charismatic pro athlete with some surprisingly large name recognition, hell yeah, that was a gamble worth taking. I wonder how it would have gone had NFL not stepped in.
    One of the cooler things was when Pacman Jones personally bought 1,500 tickets to Bound For Glory for kids as incentive for good grades in school. Of course, he didn't even end up wrestling on that show. Classic TNA. It seemed like he wanted to clean his image up after the incident that led to his NFL suspension.

Then he Debuted... with Bischoff, Hall, X-Pac and Ric Flair. As soon as I saw them all there I instantly thought that these guys saw TNA as a potential cash cow since WWE were the only other legit big money opportunities at the time and they were going to milk TNA for all they could. I was right. Hogan and Bischoff actually surprised me for a few months. Things seemed to be improving. Everything except going back to 4 sided rings. I think TNA had 2 really bad habits. 1. They would sabotage every good idea with a bad one. For example, the ultimate X match, and king of the mountain. Ultimate X, kick ass. King of the mountain, WTF? It's a backwards ladder match with pinfalls and submissions, followed by timeouts. Imagine sitting in a penalty box, and watching as your opponent goes for the win. You know, because the pin or submission isn't decisive enough. When you have good and bad ideas in the same place, they counteract eachother, and you run in circles. 2. They would always try to be bigger, than they really were. Granted, the showed guts by trying to compete with WWE. The showed that they were willing to go for it. But they just don't have as much money as Vince. Therefore, they run out of ammo sooner. They're like a small army with pistols, trying to take down a much larger one, with better weapons. Some of TNA's stuff I like, and some of it I think sucks. It would be great if they could compete with WWE, but sadly they're on life support, if they're still around. I'd like it if they got huge, but I think they'll always be the mouse, that thinks they're a T rex.

Never let someone convince you that all you need to solve sexism is to put a woman in power; the Knockout division was obliterated during her run, both financially and literally.
    For those who don't know what I'm referring to, women like Daffney got hurt doing dangerous stunts with the assurance TNA would handle medical bills, yet after the stunt when in hospital they'd find that Dixie refused to pay and sometimes wouldn't even answer the phone for questions.

    I'm new to your content so new comment on an old video. When TNA went on the road the first house show was recorded in my hometown of Tupelo MS. They taped 2 weeks of TV in the Bancorpsouth Arena. I'm sure their numbers varied, but for that set of tapings the arena was packed. On par for the WWE house that would frequent at the time.

    Hiring Russo, Bischoff and Hogan. Those 3 do not know how to budget at all. And work within the limitations they had.

      I love how Bischoff loves to claim every week on 83 weeks how strict his budget was in WCW. He's so full of shit.
