As a french, i would like to thank this man, Bob Bowman, for helping Leon to reach his best in the pool. Together, they achieved something very special and it was so great to watch.
Thank you so much, dear Master Bowman for everything you have taught our dear Léon. You are the best coach in the world. It's just a pity that coaches are not granted medals, because you would get them all... We all love you in France.

I suggest swimswam to eliminate the comments made by some recently created IDs who are sponsored by Chinese propaganda team. These comments, repetitively referring to purple face and asthma, are baseless and misleading.
Yes we do lol. Whenever he talks on TV its obvious he is a very smart guy. And we know he is moving to Texas and has the best trainer ever as well. We do not live in a cave you know.
Where do you get this? Were you in France while this was going on?! I was!! And yes THEY DID TALK ABOUT IT!!!! Did you talk about Simone Biles having a French coach?! Yes...I watched an m interview with her coach... she's French!! Any comment on that!??
Regan's 100 back was so disappointing. She came in as WR holder and lost by 0.33. And went over half a second slower than her WR. Her 200m back was her best performance imo.
Bob is an incredible coach, Léon is an extraordinary swimmer, but I can't accept he refused to shake hand with the chinese coach. If Sport is politics I don't want to be interested in it anymore (and btw,Pan is incredible, don't let any purple person tell me otherwise)
What skill level of coaching are we celebrating here? Clearly this is an example of one who is good at coaching the cream of the crop, the top 1% of talent. I can't diminish the expertise involved in that. How does this skill level differ from the coach that develops those swimmers from start to the one percent? I am being overly simplistic but in the interest of brevity....
The skill level with that 1% is paying attention to slightest detail. Bowman mentions lactate levels indicated need for more rest and these minute adjustments make difference.
@@scotmoser8716 I think that is pretty overrated. There was a coach who said it best "What makes a good coach? A good swimmer." I saw Bob Bowerman exclaimed his enthusiasm with the French, not 🚭🚫 the Americans, but at least he is recognized worldwide, an international coach only, so give me a break!! But that is only me!!! Congratulations to Bob Bowerman for his success as an international coach and now director of an international swimming team!!!
Denis Cotterell, the famous coach of Australian Grant Hackett also coached SUN YANG to beat australia for years, he is not the first and this is pretty common for coaches, as long as USA athelete did not join other country to beat USA i think it is fair play since coach need to live and raise family too, at the end of the day there is only so much a coach can do, 99 percent is still athelete themself, thus is why he coached the french team but all their medals is still just from one guy.
Bob is Leon main coach he was not going to leave him during such an important moment of his life/ career. What a superlative for Léon Marchand refusing an autograph to a 10-year-old child! For your information, an autograph takes 3 seconds, so what's the superlative?
You have to look at it from the perspective of the number 1 swimmer in their home Olympics-every second counts in terms of warming down and preparation. The girl asked him for an autograph on the day of his double. If he had signed hers, then who’s to say that no one else will ask? Signing autographs is not the proper time while preparing for multiple swims.
Oh pleeeease give us a break with your story. There were 15 K people who would have loved an autograph or photo with him everytime he swam & won, and that would have been in the arena, so imagine in the whole country.
