So glad Otis is ok and you didn’t decide to collect the adder! Growing up in the Okanagan Valley, rattlesnakes were quite common. When moving irrigation lines in our hay fields I’d often hear the rattle and I’d just stop and watch the waist high grass wave as it moved away. The only time they were really dangerous was spring when they exit their dens and be sleeping in the sun. My uncle set the world record for side jump when he passed about 3’ from one and I pointed it out to him. 😂
So glad Otis is ok. What a lovely little dog he is with a gorgeous personality. What a shock for you though realising he had been bitten. I thought an adder bite was deadly so that’s reassuring. Still don’t want one though and hope it doesn’t happen again. Best of luck with all your hives and hope you get lots and lots of lovely honey (Heather I guess?). I did send you a small E voucher from your chosen supplier but found their website a bit confusing -probably me- so hope it reached you. All the best. 🌻🌻
Hi guys! Oh my gosh, poor Otis, so glad he's doing fine, that must've been scary, love how you both keep us updated on what's going on in your part of Scotland, you're both so hilarious, thank you for making my day better, give Otis a hug from me, enjoy your day, hello from Orange County,y🤗🐕🐝💚💚
Glad Otis is ok,also glad that the few snakes we’ve seen while walking have been sliding out of our way. Jeez… the mess from the delivery😮,bit like some of the cages where I worked.will you be able to show us the difference between the bee breeds? Awesome vlog, can’t wait for the next buzzing instalment xx
You are definitely good parents to your puppies.i really enjoyed the video today about the bee's because you explain everything which is lovely. Have a lovely weekend all of you 💕💕🦴🦴
Just 45 minutes ( or less) we have rattlesnakes...no thanks, you couldnt pay me enough to move south into rattlesnake territory. I have friends heading for Scotland, i will have to remind then that while trapsing thru northwestern Scotland tomkeep an eye peeled...theu are going to a school to learn falconry😂😂😂.i am so glad to hear Otis is fine now....❤❤❤love you both and puppers too XOXOX...AND AN EXTRA FOR OTIS XOXOX
Re: the word Apiary, Victorian Gents toilets often had a bee pattern or shape near the water level. This was to give men something to aim at when having a wee, and so keep the surrounding floor clean. The reason why a bee was chosen was that it was a pun on the word Apis.
You guys just make me smile. I have a stupid question - sorry. But bees in the wild live in groups like ones in your boxes? In hives? I don't think I have ever seen a group of bees or a hive. Looking forward to more Bees, Sherlock, Otis, Ollie and of course the two of you. Have a good weekend.
No such thing as a stupid question 👍🏻 Bees do love in groups (colonies) in the wild, although their numbers are falling drastically. Some species live in large colonies, some in smaller family colonies, and some live alone.
Glad Otis is fine now. I love watching the Bees, it is quite relaxing. You guy's are so fortunate to have all that space around you and also to live in the land of my birth. I would love to live in Montrose where I was born but I am stuck with Manchester. Keep well and safe. James.
When I was a kid there were always kids getting bitten by adders. Every summer, playing in the bracken. It doesn't seem to happen now as kids don't go exploring as much.
oh this is wonderful how your croft is growing, all the bees, chicken and soon Mr Sherlock, not to forget the cuties Olli & Otis! Keep going, this is so interesting 👍👏🐾 🐔🐝🐕
Please, please don't change your styles. I have been a fan for many years. You two are great at presenting less BS and giving great insight (with humor) to your real life adventures. You always add a smile to my day. I sometimes find myself actually laughing. The world needs you both.
Don’t like bees, no innuendos till the outtakes, made up for it though. Would have loved to meet “the boys”, was not to be, glad Otis recovered after his ordeal, bless him. Full of admiration for your knowledge of beekeeping, you make it so interesting, good luck with the project just send us a jar when your in production. Keep up the good work, don’t work too hard and stay safe, love to Shaun, Otis and Ollie.
Oh poor Otis!!! He has been through the wars! He is so bloody lovely!!! Your apiary news is so freaking awesome - they are such beautiful creatures!!! God bless you all...
Hi Colin and Shaun ...while living in the Scottish Highlands I once came across a road sign on the moors saying : Beware of Adders ..someone had written under it ..And Subtracters !!!
Omgoodness, my darlings, I'm so glad that Otis survived his snake bite! Absolutely brilliant vlog about the apiary! May your queens survive and multiply!😊 😘😘😘😘❤️
So interesting about your bee story. You’re really getting serious about the bees. Great to see. Good luck with everything there. Take care you two. Cheers!
Such an interesting vlog and so glad that Otis recovered from the snake bite and wonderful to see him. Take care and I hope the bees all settle down and make lots of honey for us honey lovers!
You two get me giggling when Colin gets creative with words that sound downright naughty! Shawn is your biggest fan, Colin - he’s always laughing at your stories! Kisses to Otis from Ontario 🇨🇦!
Really fascinating info on bee keeping! Keep it coming! So glad to hear the pup is healthy! Our venomous snakes are no small matter here in the USA. A friend has lost two of her dogs to copperhead bites. I’m glad the adders are a lesser problem!
Thanks guys, I'm glad that Otis is well the poor lad, this was a brilliant and very interesting vlog. I thought that lorry drivers were a bit more professional than certain van couriers, it looks like he just pushed your delivery off the side of it. Great fun as always and I hope that you four are doing well. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Otis! Glad he's ok. You're building quite the bee neighborhood! Put me on the list for jars of honey and beeswax candles. I will knit you both wool socks! xoxo's Sandie
You’re eventually going to have to build a honey retail store at the end of your drive! (Kidding). Exciting times at the Croft for sure! Give Otis a kiss for me, and a good lecture to Ollie so he knows not to mess with snakes! ATB
Awwwww, I just love Otis! He is just so stinking cute, I have a small Golden Retriever and she is our honey, spoiled rotten of course! I am so happy he came through this ok! ❤
Sorry to hear about Otis, your lucky your up North, down here Otis would be gone. At the beginning of the year we lost a Jack Russel to a brown snake, it died within minuets. Never would of thought pommey dogs could get bit by a snake!
So glad Otis is all good he’s so cute 🥰. You’re definitely going to be an expert on bee keeping with all those hives. Wish you could send honey to the US but I don’t think you’re allowed some dumb rule I suppose. Take care ❤
Hi guys. Pray tell how many boats fit in the canal, one going and way, the other the other way? Make sense! Greetings from Australia. Enjoy your videos. So pleased your puppy has recovered from the snake bite
Now I have to go and find out what distinguishes honey bees. You make me stretch my knowledge about things I never really thought about. My very aged mind gets a reboot 👍
So nice to hear and see Otis is doing great. This was so lovely to watch. Who knew watching bee keeping could be so relaxing? Huh! Thanks boys; another wonderful Vlog ❤
You are both very busy boys, just keep going & forget about going to Edinburgh for a while,August is Festival season and the crowds will be too much for BOTH of you. Staywell! Yes another good vlog and very instuctive.
I’m glad Otis ok , I would have freaked out. My daughter got bitten by a snake in Cornwall. Not an adder luckily the doctor in A&E was South African. He recognised immediately that it was an exotic snake. Some intelligent individual had let their pet snake free. She had a week of treatment it wasn’t good very painful. So lucky she got the doctor from South Africa. It appears this is a regular event people get bored or the snake gets too big. I cannot believe people are that stupid. My daughter is an adult what if it was a child.
Hi lads we love your videos but they are way too short! Loving the info on the bees. Sadly im finding more and more dying bees in my garden. Saved one tbis morn tbat looked dead. Put him in the sun with a bit of sugar water . He looked bedraggled and wet. Half hr later when i checked he had gone. Thats made my day. Saw a slogan that said we die you all die. Kt was jnder a pic of a bee. Keep up the good work lads.
Speaking of blowie Colin it's blowie where I'am in bewcastle in Cumbria😂😂 and rainy nice to see that Otis is looking well you both done well getting Otis to the vet's both you and Shaun make me smile every Friday at four o clock.
Pleased as about Otis. Geez Leweze nice mess left by the driver. Did you talk to the company and get an explanation? These Buckfasts are one colony? If they run into another one of the other colonies would they make love or war? Nice job gettin 13 hives built in a cupla days! 👍 Nice job m8, hope Sherlock and all the others and you are all well. Thanks m8s
I’m so pleased Otis is ok :) also good news that the bee hive supplier sorted you out with new hives! Is there a capacity for the number of bees you can have in a certain area?
Glad that Otis is ok after his snake encounter. That’s a lot of hives. Are you planning on selling honey once they are well established? Take care. Nick
Hi again from Oz , so glad it wasn't an Ozzie snake boys, it would have possibly/probably been "lights out" within an hour. So glad it turned out ok. Cheers from Oz
You are such loving puppy parents. So happy Otis is well
I can see a distinct change in your happiness; this is such a joy to see. It must be working with the bees.
So glad Otis is ok and you didn’t decide to collect the adder!

I’m so pleased Otis is ok :) also good news that the bee hive supplier sorted you out with new hives!
Is there a capacity for the number of bees you can have in a certain area?
Not really. as long as there's enough for them to forage.
Big big Big ☺ watching you 2
I love these about the bees, learning so much, really interesting, can we also see more of the chooks please ;-)
We do lots of vlogs about the hens 🤣
Beekeeping is so much more technical than it would appear! Absolutely fascinating video
Glad Otis is ok. I HATE snakes. Looks like you're all over the bees. Looking forward to update about Sherlock. Thanks gents.
"The man's bizarre." The man makes you laugh and that's a lot.
What kind of snake it is matters more in the US than in the UK because we have many more kinds of venomous snakes over here in the States
And I'm not just talking about the politicians!
Love the bees very interesting.
Me too!
Great transfer super interesting brilliant 👍🐝
Many thanks
You are both so funny! I love your videos. I am glad Otis is okay 👍
Us too!
Gosh, you’re so busy. Great job Colin.
I’ve always heard the UK had no snakes much less venomous snakes.
There are plenty of snakes 👍👍
Glad that Otis is ok after his snake encounter. That’s a lot of hives. Are you planning on selling honey once they are well established? Take care. Nick
Yes we are 👍👍👍
Very interesting video learning a lot about bee keeping love from Queensland Australia
