This is the splendid 'String of Pearls' magnolia! It resides beneath a canopy of ponderosa pines, where the flowers bloom protected from getting roasted by the sun or fried by the frost. The creamy white flowers exude a vanilla-like fragrance. It was definitely a treat to come across this uncommon cultivar!
