I had an LG phone with the self healing plastic and it definitely worked. It wasn't really for deep cuts with knives but rather like grains of sand or keys scratching up against the phone in your pocket.
Or deforming ?

I still use my G flex 2 to this day. Mainly as a remote for my receiver and for the lights in my house. You can actually bend the phone quite a bit, and it will flex back. The healing back works great for smaller scratches from keys for example. Best phone finish has to be the leather on the G4 by the way. Felt super premium at the time and never seen anything like it again.

I really liked the glasstic samsung used on the note 20s, it looks and feels really nice without being as fragile as glass and is cheaper for the manufacturer and I'd really like to see more of that. I was never a fan of glass backs for the fragility and how easily it got scratched.
I liked the glasstic on the A51...A shame they actually went down a big step for the A71 visually...The colourfull reflections on the A51 were really nice
It still works, just only with really tiny scratches. It doesn't work with big scratches like Arun did. Clever marketing technique, though.
I'm the exact opposite. I hated the glasstic
i think the fold concept is amazing, it’s like having 2 monitors on a pc. I could watch youtube and go on snapchat at the same time, Be in a music app and change songs and see my playlist at the same time i’m gaming… etc. I just love the idea, just not a huge fan on android, that’s the only reason i don’t have one. The trade off of having everything linked together by my apple account, plus facetime is just too much to leave behind

I have the LG G Flex and you can push down on it to flatten the phone completely because the screen is bendable.

I had a g flex. It was one of my favorite phones. Very comfortable in pocket and the screen curve reduced pixels but had a cool immersion effect like curved monitors have when watching videos... I kept it in a case so I didn't really experience the self healing part.
Also had the zte dual screen phone... actually it was what I got after my flex. It was useful for showing friends video clips when they're on the other side of a table and we could still both watch at the same time.
Considering that most people cover the back of their phones with a case, I think making it glass is just a waste.

LG had that on one of their phones. I think it was the G flex. I should have listened to the whole video. He said the LG flex in the video. But I remembered that because I am a long-time LG user. For me, it started with my first smart phone, the Optimus G. It was a fabulous phone for the time it was released I think 2013. The back was glass and had a very unique pattern. I didn't even realize until just recently that it also had face unlock. From the Optimus G, I then bought a G pro (5 of them-good deals on E-bay). Then a Korean model of the G-pro 2, which LG never released in the U.S. (complete with the TV antenna). Then I bought a G3, which was the first phone to have a 2K display. Then I got into the V-series. Since LG decided to abandon the cell market, the last LG phones I bought were the velvets. They received a lot of lukewarm reviews, but I think it is a gorgeous phone(especially the illusion sunset). That's my rant. I do use other phones, too, including Samsung, Nokia, Xiaomi, Sony, Hauwei & Motorola edge+.

The screen mirroring on the Axon m was useful for sharing a video with someone sitting across from you. You could open it a little and make it stand in landscape mode
My preferred finish is a durable plastic with a nice matte texture. Glass is nice at first but after a day or two I realized it is slick and prone to picking up micro scratches pretty quick. Holding onto glass just doesn't give me confidence like a really sturdy plastic does. Plus plastic better dissipates heat so there's a performance advantage there as well. I should throw out there as well that the plastic displays they're using on foldables right now are not great, they need to improve the resistance I feel when touching the screen.

As for Android e-ink devices, Onyx proves this can be done. They have a whole line of Android-based ebook readers, one of which I own, and they don't draw a huge amount of power while not in use. That is really silly to have to carry a bag everywhere or only where clothes with specific GIANT pockets to carry a laptop?
I can easily fit a double screen phone phone in any clothes and have it easily accesible in my right pocket.
There is a reason why people have their phones on them 24/7 everywhere they go but this is just not the case with laptops that have powerbricks, and are a hassle to pull out and I can't just easily work with my lapop anywhere, I need to find a table and a chair. I can literally pull out my phone standing or on a bus or car easily while commuting.
You're trying to make a comparison and it is falling short all over the place.
Plus I have vision problems, I'm legally blind. It is a pain in the ass to work on a laptop and I will be breaking my neck to see it.

To start self healing on phones, you have to establish a Bluetooth contact and file transfer of some 8 mb files with an activated Windows, leaving 5-10 m distance between the two devices. Then, Google Maps positioning is needed, and the compass (rotate around with the phone), then you are done. The battery needs an appropriate usually 1A charger with 150 mA input. Better phones need 2A. The battery starts its refresh, and the phone is fixed. New phones and tabs need their battery unplug for few seconds, only once.
